Pretty stark contrast after four years on the job. Almost looks like a teenager in the picture on the right.
Wow...I think you see a little more fresher looking face next year
Happens to every single coach who comes through here. It's an exhausting job that ages you like the president ages.
Exactly my thought, Matt.
He likely had makeup on for the intro preser.
But he does look disheveled this year. He also can't exercise due to a hip issue.
He needs some times off. And he also needs to quit trying to explain every move he makes. Thats gotta be exhausting.
^^^I agree, this is being the Head Coach at Kentucky, lose your temper or act like you are upset brings the media howling. I think he does that to suppress the amount of negative press his team would get if he threw them under the bus. Plus it wouldn't take much for the media to start stories about him and the program.
Coach Calipari has said it himself, numerous times, that playing for Kentucky isn't for everyone. Being the Head Coach @ Kentucky isn't for everyone either. It is probably the toughest job in all of college basketball, but it also has the biggest rewards too.
And seriously, although he looks tired, with what he's had to deal with this season, anyone would look as tired & worn out as he looks right now. But in the end I believe this season will have served him as a lesson of what NOT to do in regards to recruiting going forward, and that having upper classmen on the team pays huge dividends.
Coach Calipari has learned from this year's situation, and I believe he will modify his thinking and recruiting process to better fit future needs.
I think this season, and many will cosign on this, has been particularly taxing on Calipari. Hasn't been his best coaching job IMO, but he's exhausted himself trying to get the absolute most out of this team.
The UK job was, is and always will be a 24/7/365 type-deal. It's just a year-round grind and you can't stay on the hamster wheel forever.
Cal has had some health issues this year--oral surgery & hi--too. Looks like to me he's a workaholic and needs to take some time off after this season.
I think he looks the same, difference is in pictures.

Hey Chris, out of curiosity: How much does Cal make a year nowadays? Is it $5 million big ones or more?
