For those that moaned all year long, I want to say I understand your frustrations, but it could be worse. We could have basically sucked since the 80s and be celebrating a second straight sweet sixteen. IULOL.
Honestly there shouldnt be much moaning or complaining. We lost our #1 NBA pick mid-season not to mention wouldnt we all take a down year for a Championship? I would just hopefully not as down as this year, hehe
I love our #8 hanging from the rafters, and I might even love #9 MORE next year if we get any luck at all. iu is celebrating back to back sweet 16s, bless their little hearts.
Did IU cut down the sweet 16 nets even though they lost again? lol
seriously, Crean is a TERRIBLE coach. His strategies doesn't work. I was watching the game against Temple, and what he was trying to do was simply not working. They almost lost to Temple. Which would have been hilarious.
If they continue to rely on Zeller, they won't go far. He is a soft center, won't be able to do much come NCAA tourney time.
If anyone is complaining about things put it to rest. What a joke and give me a break. Won #8 last year, and frankly, do not see anyone on paper who can give us a game next year. Boo hoo, we had some problems this year. Take a flame thrower to the program!!!!!!!! Arghhh. Probably 5 of these complainers actually went to UK with me. They really tick me off.
As long as Cal is here we are lethal and ready to destroy opponents and win it all. Also, get behind some of our other programs and divert the focus, if they have not noticed the FB team has more excitement behind it since 1977, probably more than it had then. The womens team is awesome and our other sports are getting better all the time.
Get a life man.
Nashwan is on point with his comments. If you are not excited about the future of our men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, and football teams...you are lost. You need to call a good friend and ask them to come and drag you out from under the rock where you have been living. If you are lucky, once in a generation you will get to see dominance like what I feel is on the near horizon. It is a great and wonderful time to be a Wildcat.
Serious question: as a fan, would you rather go to the NIT or be one of the favorites to win it all and bow out in the Sweet 16?
Bow out in the Sweet Sixteen.....at least you were dancing. For the blue blood programs, the NIT is an embarassment. It happens sometimes but it's still an embarassment.
Who can name the two teams that played in the NIT final last year? or even who won?
Who can name the final 4 team for the NCAA last year?
For me, the prestige of the NCAA is much greater that the NIT. I also like the great underdog stories that came come through in the NCAA.
As a fan, i would much rather go past sweet 16 more than once in last 20 years.
It's about big picture for me. We had a year where we lost our best player. COuld have made a run if healthy. This is why i want a coach who can have a team potentially win every year.
So, this year, we got the short end of the stick. Next year, we are favorite to win it all once again.
Truthfully, it's a double edged sword. They both suck, from a fans perspective.
I remember one of Tubbys teams being the favorite to win it one year and bowed out in the second round. I think now Zellar will come back and maybe even Victor O. I hope they both go pro but if they come back then IU will be good again and possible even one of the teams that could compete against us.
No, but I also wouldn't trade E8, FF, Championship for back to back S16's.
You never hear about a team that suddenly get amazing having same players. People don't develop that fast, that's the reality. That's why it's good that they stay. It will slow down the progress of other players with higher potential.
If anyone has played basketball, they should know this. Put an bigger, more athletic players against you and all of sudden, you were playing well and then get's shut down. There is a reason why with and without Lebron James on Cleveland goes from top team in the league to one of worst team in the league.
If WCS stays, i am pretty confident that he will be more effective Collegiate player than Zeller, next year. The gap between us and indiana is so huge. Not sure how you can compare the two teams.
I wouldn't trade 30 straight final fours for 1 championship so you know I'd much rather win a championship then go to the NIT than go to back to back SS's. All day any day. I'd rather do what we did than go to back to back final games.
They will ,crean might not
Indiana has 16 Tournament wins in past 20 years.
Coach Cal has 13 @ UK.
