You win some you lose some. My guess now is that we recruit the hell out of Shadrach Thornton?

Jared, there is your answer. God does hate UK football.
Seriously though, best of luck to the kid. He sounds like a quality kid and the appeal of a 'Name' program was hard to overcome.
Yes indeed Cobby, but we knew that right??? :)
you know i was really hoping that this time, just this once was going to be different, but SoSDD.
Do you forsee us goin after shadrach hard again??
They tried to get back in, but I don't think he was receptive. Seems like he just totally lost interest after committing during his visit.
I think we almost have to. I don't think we necessarily "need" him in this class as he is not as unique and different of a RB that we needed like Cross, but he is definitely among the top of the "best available" list for UK.
I am pretty much convinced that Core is going to Ole Miss. We have Henderson visiting this weekend, but its going to be tough to beat out Ole Miss for him as well. Madaris is supposedly down to us, Michigan and Cincy as his best options and his recruitment has been anything but great for UK, so I'm not holding my breath on that one. Moncrief is going JUCO. Cross just picked NU.
Other than some under-the-radar guys, that's about it (that we know of). So, I think we almost HAVE to go hard after Thornton and these others and just hope for the best. Maybe we renew the offer to Andrades? If we strike out on Henderson, Madaris, and Core, does Harmon get a schollie now instead of having to pay his own way at first? Any other known REALISTIC options?
"Hidden Gems and Under the Radar" players will not get the job done if you ever want to have a legit football program at UK.
Cross chooses Nebraska over UK.
Nebraska is to football what UK is to basketball so it should be easy to understand the lure of being a Cornhusker football player. Being close to home and playing in the SEC appeared to be no big deal in his recruitment.
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
This is shaping up to be a very underwhelming signing day. No playmaking reciever, no bruising rb, dlinemen going Juco. I really like a bunch of the kids we have but once again, we're failing to close at the end and take it to the next level. I sure hope Joker and Tee have something last minute up their sleeves, but I am very douubtful. This is a huge dissapointment.
Don't panic yet. With Henderson and Madaris visiting this weekend, a lot could still happen. I am writing off Core, though.
Just hang in there. Lots can still happen. This one did hurt.
I realy loved his kid. UK does have depth at RB and maybe that scared him away. Neb is not the program it use to be. OH well
Oh Jesus .
dville, you're exactly right. If UK has depth at any position, it's at running back. I would have loved to have had this guy, but, Mobley is a heck of a back in his own right and with Clemmons, Sanders, Williams and Coffey already here, we're in very good shape there for the next couple of years.. Plus, Nebraska had no RBs in this class and were in serious need there, so, it's a good situation for Cross. I wish him good luck with his future..
He's a spiritual guy. I question why we didn't send Coach Summers. Ron Brown was the key for Nebraska landing his commitment.
Because you don't just trot out your "religious" guy to close on a recruit. This kid has shown himself to be very bright and I would imagine that would be pretty insulting. He had established a relationship with Brown, that wasn't going to be undone.
Insulting? I don't know why he would be insulted. It's a guy that shares similar beliefs. Coach Summers is more than religious. It's not like he would only go there to talk about the Lord. He's a football coach, not a preacher. lol.
Insulting because of the appearance that you are playing the religious card to sway him. You understood perfectly well what I was talking about.
The only thing I disagree with is that I don't believe our depth scared Cross away. We do have good depth, but a player like Cross doesn't care. As for the rest, Nebraska, while still a good program with tremendous fan support, is a far cry from what they were in the mid-late 90's to early 2000's.
I am not sure I would compare Nebraska football to Kentucky Basketball "at this exact moment". Nebraska is a top 25 and possible a top 15 team, but no where near the run Kentucky is on from a recruiting perspective or on field success for that matter.
Now, I agree that NU football has the allure from a tradition perspective and its certainly an "I-back" school... Now that NU is in the big 10 (or whatever the hell the name of the conf is) and a bruising back is a necessity there.
Clever stuff here.
