If not Petrino then Mitch needs to call this guy. Guy can flat coach. He's my number two behind Petrino. UK doesn't need a retread like Tuberville or Fulmer. UK doesn't need a coach who doesn't care about defense like Dykes. Doeren is winner, high energy. young and believes in playing both offense and defense.
Yeah, I'd take Doeren in a heartbeat. Not sure why he's not getting more play on the message boards. I'll be honest with you though, I think I would take Fulmer with Zook (DC) and Brown (OC) first though.
If UK hires Fulmer and whoever as coordinators, then it's due to being turned down by NUMEROUS other candidates and this was the last resort. I think Barnhart realizes he needs a hire that will both rejuvinate the program and fan base and Fulmer won't do the latter. Secondly, if Fulmer couldn't win big at UT his last several years (a program with a lot more going for it than UK) then what makes you think he can turn UK around??? I remember everybody being enamored with CM Newton "luring" Bill Curry away from Bama and that one didn't work out to well. If you are looking at a proven HC, then the only two who would get folks excited are Mike Belotti and yes, Mr Petrino.
I don't think you read my entire statement. You saw "Fulmer" and put on the brakes. Fulmer has won in this league. Granted he had 2 5 win seasons his last four years at the helm, but he knows the game, and I'm not just talking about between the sidelines. I mean the game that must be played with the administration and the BOT. I think he can get some things done around here. However, I'm not that interested if he doesn't bring Zook along, and some solid OC like Neal Brown.
If you think tuberville is a "retread" the. You are a fool"
Nope, I read your entire post. I'm just not a big Fulmer fan (never was) that's all. He had a great run at UT w/Peyton Manning and then the NC year w/Tee Martin. He was mediocre at best after that. Again, if he couldn't sustain success at Tennessee, then what makes you think he can be successful long term at UK???? I'd rather UK roll the dice w/a young guy than to recycle either Fulmer or Tuberville. Both are upgrades over Joker but I just don't think they will get the fanbase fired up nor do I think they will get UK to a consistently competive level. Just my opinion!
That is a fair assessment. One I cannot argue against.
Niu's coach would be fine but he's probably well below our best options. Tuberville and butch jones are much better options. My personal favorite at this point is tuberville. He's almost tailor made for the uk job.
Fools? Your the same clown that defended joker to the end! Tuberville is a retread! That's the reason ut and Arkansas will not even blink an eye at him! Guy cheated on his wife, abused his assistant, and being sued for fraud for over 17 million bucks! All the while u bash bobby!!! You my friend are the fool!
R U serious? We didnt lure Curry away from Bama..the man had death threats aimed at him from Bama fans. They had Curry mannequins hanging in trees outside his home...and Fulmer went 9-3 the year before he was pushed out..and look where that got UT...Fulmer owns one of the best SEC winning % in SEC history..guy won the 1st ever BCS title as a heavy underdog. Not trying to bash you guy..but you need to check your facts before posting this stuff..at least a little. Fulmers SEc record is way better than your MR. Petrinos 17-15 SEC record.Fulmer was 152-52 for his career..98-34 in the SEC. And Fulmer went 9-4 and 10-3 the 2 years prior to his being let go in favor of Lane Kiffen..Ut thought a younger guy was needed...wow..that worked out well. Im guessing USC is wishing they left Kiffen at UT now as well. Oregon owns them, Sarkesian the guy they should have hired if not Norm Chow..beat them at Washington..and USC was the preseason #1...now look at them.

Dont agree with BP..but man, you are dead on with DD. Doeren is 21-4, 14-1 in conf, 1-0 in bowls. Hes a defensive coach..coached at Wisconsin..grad asst at USC under Pete Carroll..and some of Petes defensive genius must have rubbed off. The badgers d's were nasty under Doeren. Montana was surprising folks while DD was there as well..if you will remember!! Never really considered Doeren..but Id be all for this guy..only 40..young..his teams are tough and physical...pair him with a great young OC and THIS could be the attainable..if not sexy..hire that could very well work!!
MY picks for HC...now...
1: Chris Peterson...no one wants to stay in the Big East now..could be the right time..but..admittedly..a long shot to happen.
2: Dave Doeren...should jump at the chance to coach in the SEC..wouldnt cost Uk 3 mil..great defensive mind.
3: Kirby Smart..my hearts desire..but a long shot.
4: Phil Fulmer...98-34 SEc record..BCS title, numerous SEC titles, bowl wins..and UT isnt the most fertile talent pool...can recruit nationwide..which is a huge plus for any UKcoach..also brings Zook..who can flat recruit and is a good DC, possibly Neal Brown as OC...Pat washington could stay as Wr coach..and look how much our wrs improved this year..I mean..Aaron Boyd..and the youngsters..nuff said!!
Just my humble opinions
So, what you are saying is that four seasons out of nine with ten or more wins and an outright win or co-win of the SEC east each of those times is mediocre at best?
Here are those nine seasons, from best to worst...
11-2 (7-1) 1st SEC east 2001
10-3 (7-1) 1st SEC east 2004
10-3 (6-2) tied 1st SEC east 2003
10-4 (6-2) tied 1st SEC east 2007
9-4 (5-3) 2nd east 2006
8-4 (5-3) 2nd east 2000
8-5 (5-3) 3rd east 2002
5-6 (3-5) 4th east 2005
5-7 (3-5) 5th east 2008
So, in a nine year span after Martin, he won (4x) or took 2nd (2x) in the SEC east six times. That isn't "mediocre at best" during that timespan. Think about this: if after throwing out the previous six seasons with his best players and the legendary Tennessee QBs (Peyton Manning and Tee Martin) , he was first or second in the SEC east six of the next nine years. That is far better than mediocre. If a coach has a record of far better than mediocre when he is being evaluated over a period intentionally chosen to exclude his best years with best players and has that kind of success, I don't see how it can be considered poor or "mediocre at best"..

Once again...heres Fulmers records the yearsafter Tee...
9-3, 8-4, 11-2, 8-5, 10-3, 10-3, 5-6, 9-4, 10-4, 5-7. If this is your idea of not maintaining success...wow..what do you want? Fulmer was among the most respected HC's by his peers during his tenure. IMO..his "firing" was among the dumbest calls in AD history. 2 losing seasons in his career and whoosh...we want Lane Kiffen. I guarantee you nearly everyone associated with Ut athletics..and about 99% of thier fans wish Phil was still the boss on Rocky Top. Myself..Im glad hes not still there..we couldnt beat the guy. If not for wide left Lonas..we beat Kiffen, and we did beat Dooley..

You condemn Perino for cheating on his wife but endorse a man being sued for basically ruining people's life's by stealing their life savings. You are so smart! See below. You fail again!
In 2012 Tuberville and John Stroud, partners in investment firm TS Capital Partners LLC, were sued by seven plaintiffs in United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama for alleged failure to file tax returns and for falsifying documents and co-mingling investors' funds during Tuberville's time at Auburn University. Through attorney at law Vic Hayslip of Birmingham, Alabama, Tuberville denied the allegations and promised to defend "vigorously" against them.
Ok, I've got my timeline from Tee to firing a little off but I'll stick w/his last 5 yrs as mediocre because if they were great he'd still be at UT! Look, I'm not a Phat Phil fan. Never have been. If you think he's the guy to turn the program around then have at it. He'll never get the type of talent at UK to run the offensive system he did at UT. I've already said he'd be an upgrade from Joker BUT I don't think he's the answer for UK long term.
I guess I just think that he may be the answer indirectly as in pulling the power people to where they need to be to take this program the direction we all want it to go. I'll be honest with you, I'm not crazy about a 60-something yr old dude being our coach. But I think Fulmer could really help us long term.
The facts are Phil Fulmer is 152-52...he owns one of the best SEC winning percentages in SEC history. Tennessee isnt exactly a hotbed for elite talent. Fulmer and his staff recruit nationwide...which would serve him well IF he were hired,. He would also bring Ron Zook..who is a great recruiter with ties all over the nation..Fla, Ga, SC, Illinios, Ohio, California , Texas. Fulmer's only had 2 losing seasons in his career..2 5 win seasons in which injuries played a role. Other than that..he regularly won 10 games a year.
That being said..Id rather have Dave Doeren.a young, proven winner thats a defensive minded coach having been the DC at Wisonsin when the badgers were owning the Big 10..and at Montana when they were having great seasons. He also coached as a grad asst under Pete Carroll at USC...might be where he learned his defense.
Id like Kirby Smart...my #1 would have to be Chris Peterson, whos 90% career winning % is insane...if he can do it in Idaho..he could do it here.
All those Bobby P lovers are ridiculous..the guy is 17-15 in SEC..not exactly a great %...Butch Jones has trouble in big games..and the SEC isnt the Big East..glad hes not coming.
Its Ok your not a Fulmer fan..I never was..but I do respect the man, and his HC skill. I assure you that UT wishes they still had Phil. Im glad they dont. We never beat Phil..not many could. He owned the SEC for a decade..won the 1st ever BCS title..won the SEC and the east on a yearly basis for many seasons.
I agree with you stillAD...Fulmer isnt my #1 chioce either..mainly because of his age..but the guy has a awesome SEC win %..and is a throwback defensive coach that demands toughness and fundamentals from his squads..something we need sorely. If you look at the elite programs..Bama, LSU, ect..they play fundamental..tough..hit you whistle to whistle and really just line up and out hustle, out fight, out hit you. UK did this in 2006-2007, when we beat the National champs, and were ranked as high as 6th in the country,
Id much rather have a young, firy HC like Doeren or Peterson or Smart..but, if all these say no..Id rather have Phil Fulmer than Bp, Butch, or any of the offensive HC's were looking at.
The facts on Fulmer is easy to find, he did not go 9-3 the year before nor is the 10-3 record right. In 2008, his last season he went 5-7, 2007, 10-4, and 2006, 9-4, 2005, 5-6. Its on the internet wikipedia.
I see you are still not smart enough to understand how a civil suit works.
PETRINO TO UK!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
