A week away from making his college decision, Top100 QB Drew Barker talked about his upcoming verbal commitment following Fridays Elite 11 Regional in the Chicago suburbs.
National Recruiting Analyst
Thanks again, Steve.
I'm feeling good, but that's me.
I do as well. Those quotes sound positive for UK, IMO. We shall find out for sure soon enough.
Hate to say this, but the quotes are almost identical to what Barker said about his visit to USCe. Articles were written by Steve Wiltong and yesterday he made a Crystal ball prediction for USCe. So, if these are Barkers words, and this is his description of the school he favors, I am now not overly optimistic. Look up old articles on Barkers profile and judge for yourselves. Be kind, I am ready for my first downvote.
I think the experts will be wrong on this one. Barker will be a CAT.
No down vote from me. I wasn't aware of those articles, but he could just be saying the same things to build up mystery.
I won't rehash an entire thread that was just locked, but I will say having him on campus for the spring game as well as many other times recently bodes well for the Cats.
Agree Nate87 and having his announcement at his school and basically inviting the state of Kentucky also bodes well along with his best friend going to UK. Just so many things going on that alot of people never hear about, like these kids recruiting each other and wanting to play together. Here is a clue, Horton and Snodgrass didn't commit without knowing the QB that will be handing off and throwing the ball to them. AND after next friday the gates are going to open. Great days ahead for UK football. Feel bad the national guys who are going to be shocked.
This article makes me believe that Barker is coming to UK and the school that will be tough to say no to is USCe. I am just speculating and have no sources, but hope I am right.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
Hope you are right
I can tell yuo one thing, the national media is not going to give UK any respect at this point. While we see what Stoops is doing, they are going to expect the SEC powers to beat us out everytime until proven wrong. From a national perspective, usc is just the safe bet. That's not saying they won't win, but I would take anything the national media says with a grain of salt.
On second thought, I REALLY LIKE this:
I'm sure it's happened before, but when was the last time a highly recruited KY HS athlete, BB or FB, held an announcement ceremony at his school to announce his choice between UK and another school and didn't pick UK?
Lamar Dawson, IIRC. Or, did he announce somewhere else?
This young man has no scholarship offers according to the available data bases on two sites. To say he is an alternative to Barker is inaccurate.
I can think of at least 2 other 4 or near 4 stars that would probably jump at a UK offer. Unless this guy is superman, there must be more to the story - preferred walk-on maybe?

Hey everyone has an opinion, like you I didn't think we had a real shot 3 or 4 weeks ago but the tweet he sent out, asking everyone to come to his high school on Friday, kind of led me to believe that its us, especially since SC sent their guy Mangus to see him again today. I hoping for a BLUE FRIDAY.
Whole lotta backpedaling going on? NA NA NA AH NA NA NA HEY.
I hope it isn't a "Blues" Friday for UK. I hope it isn't "He Done Gone South For Good".
No singing the "Blues" tonight.
