Was curious what you all thought about this game? Seems like a great matchup. Not sure I can stomach either team in the final four though. Do you actually root for one or the other or just watch and see what happens? I would like to say I wont watch at all, but I am a NCAA junkie so I know I will be watching.
Louisville will beat Duke. Too much pressure and athleticism. Especially if the refs let them have that Big East physicality with their press.
I think duke only turned it over once in the second half against MSU.
It's sad, but it boils down to officiating. If brawl ball is allowed Louisville beats whoever they play. They've really take this shameful way of playing to a different level. If the game is called remotely tight and duke makes more than 42% of their shots duke will win going away.
The officis will have as much of a role In this game as any I can remember.
This is going to be an interesting game for the refs. You have a Duke team that typically gets more foul calls to go in their favor than the team they're playing; going against a UL team that gets away with more fouls than the average team. Something has to give because both teams success is in large part due to how the game is officiated.
I do think that Duke needs the refs on their side more so than UL. UL has shown an ability to adapt / adjust their style better than Duke. Mainly because of their deeper rotation.
It is a shame that the reffs can have such a barring on the games outcome, but I do agree with your assesments. so do you have a rooting interest or just an innocent bystander
Louisville v Florida for the Championship has been the way I have seen this tournament since mid March. Nothing has occurred to change my view of that final outcome, Florida delivering Donovan his 3rd championship.
Louisville over Duke by 3
Florida over Michigan by 6
Today, I see Syracuse over Marquette by 3 and Ohio State over Wichita State by 6
I would rather see Louisville win. They are not even mentioned in the discussion of best programs in history. Duke is a legitimate threat to UK's crown. They have four titles since 91( the only program with more than UK). UK has three. If duke gets a fifth that would put UK two down since then. And ten years probably left with coach k. I say root for the cards and then hope osu can beat them. Maybe Michigan will beat florida too. That would be fantastic.
Hop is correct. If the officials let UL play the way they have for the last month and continue to swallow the whistle, UL wins this one by double digits. Duke is just not a physical team.
I remember "the Stomp" back in '92. I hate Duke. I hope to see Louisville dismantle the Bluedevils.
If anyone wants Duke to win over louisville, you are insane.
Duke is legitimate threat for the best program in the nation. If Coach K wins another championship, that would be rather painful. (UNC fans will be crying..)
Louisville is nobody. They are our "little brother." I don't even consider them rival.
We have 8 will have 9 after next year. Duke getting 5th is no big deal. Pitino, our rival, obnoxious uofl fans outweigh duke getting 5th
The thing is if Louisville beat Duke they go on to win the championship. If Duke beats Louisville I'm not so sure.
Good point... Although I think Florida or Michigan could beat either UofL or Duke. Michigan's length on the permiter could give Louisville all sorts of problems. Michigan is legit.
Tahiti has a huge point, I totally agree
Twhit has a huge point, I totally agree
Yeah, except they also have MORE final four.
5 is NOT big deal? WHAT? yes it's a big deal. We just recently won our first NT in 14 years. Winning 1 is a big deal. Duke with Coach K is ALWAYS a threat.
As much as it pains me to say it, I have to pull for Duke. I don't want little brother to ever win any game and definitely don't want them in the final four.
You can take the man out of Kentucky, but can't take Kentucky out of the man. GO BIG BLUE!!!
Twhitt made a great point. Duke is likely UofL's toughest test the rest of the way. If we want both to lose (i do) root for duke.
I can also deal with a Duke championship much easier than I can deal with a uofL championship. I don't see Duke fans. I respect their coach.
I can't stand uofl fans and their coach is a terrible human being.
Louisville is due to shoot 20% from the field and when that happens they keep firing threes and will lose. If you play good defense, stop penetration and don't turn it over you beat UL! Haven't seen Them enough to know if Plumlee can play D and block a few shots - that would help, I think Duke beats them by 7.
Could happen against Duke because Duke will force them to score in the halfcourt because they won't turn the ball over against their press or force bad quick shots on the offensive end which is exactly how you beat UofL. You have to make them play in the half court and limit their easy buckets. They aren't a great halfcourt team. They can beat you that way sure and it will still be a very close game but you can't beat them any other way.
I will never forget the stomp and never want Duke to win! I can tolerate UL winning another NT and then getting a third straight for the Commonwealth next year.
I remember back in the 90's when Arkansas played Puke for the NT. If Puke won, I won some money and I was pulling for the Hogs.
Better the Cards than the Devils!
This is true. Gave you a +1 for that one.
I remember being at the Sweet Sixteen in Louisville, with ticket to the semi's. We skipped it to watch the UK-Duke game. We were staying at the Executive Inn. We were eating Pappa Johns pizza...2 large pepperoni's. We had began to celebrate, we the inbounds pass went to .......it went up and good. The garlic sauce went up and so did the two pizza's. I will never forget the hate after watchi ng.....stomp on Aminu Timberlake's chest. This proved to me what kind of sportsmanship Duke had. People tell me to drop it, let bygones be bygones...NO. The Unforgettables will not be forgotten.
I'd contemplate selling my soul to see Duke win. I just don't see it happening, though. I can't see Duke being able to withstand the pressure and physical D that UL plays.
