Don't know if I would call Tuberville a retread at this point, his Texas Tech team is really playing well this year. Will probably beat Texas this weekend after beating West Virginia and TCU.
He's an experienced coach, one that's been in & out of the SEC...Thus my Re-tread grouping.
I never liked fulmer but he had two bad seasons. Look at the "great" utk job after he left. They have been worse. I believe he had won 9 and 10 games and won the east the year before he was fired. On paper most uk fans would love to have him. I'd much rather have him and say, Ron zook on his staff helping recruit than dykes or another mumme retread.
I agree hoptown. Fulmer with a couple good recruiting coordinators would be a huge step forward. Tuberville with his current coordinators would also be very good.
UK is not going to have a BAMA type of staff, ever. UK isn't going to shell out $8/9 million for a staff.
For those who like Belotti, he is now 62 years old and will not have coached for 5 years by the time next season starts. He last coached in the 2008 season. He's also had NIKE and Phil Knight money backing him at Oregon. He won't have that at UK. I don't want a guy that is that far removed from coaching. He's spent his entire coaching career on the west coast. I'm not sure how well he could recruit in the south.
If we could get Tuberville and staff forn TT I'd be ok with that. My next choice would be Sonny Dykes. I don't want any guys looking for a last paycheck like Belloti or Fulmer. Both of those guys have been out of coaching for too long now.
Belichik? What are you guys smoking?
Anybody is an upgrade at this point. It really doesn't matter if it is Dykes, Fulmer, Doeren, Tuberville, Hudspeth, Leavitt, Taggart, or Belloti. Any of those guys are proven coaches that are a huge upgrade. They will be given more money for their staff and some upgrades to the facilities. Any coach will improve the program at this point. Are we going to be Bama, unlikely? Can we build with any of these guys to push to be USCjr in 5-7 year, probably?
Dykes sounds intriguing.
Exactly! Not sure what makes anyone on here think that Gruden, Belichik, Dungy, Cower are real possibilities. Hell, why not go after Saban? It is all about money anyway right? Throw 7 million a year at him and he'll come! That's 2 million more than Alabama pays him. He has to come here for that. No doubt!
Get serious people. These guys are out of our league. WAY out of our league. Money does not matter to these guys like you think it does. Most have more than they will ever spend anyway.
As much as I hate to admit it, Strong will be at Louisville next year. 2013 is the year he will be loaded and not just Big East loaded but nationally loaded. But after 2013 when Bridgewater turns pro and the BCS is dissolved, then all bets are off.
Hell, if we're throwing money at people why not hire Strong? He's obviously a good coach and recruiter and it would piss off the U of L fans to no end, which I would enjoy immensely.
Yeah, and so does Butch, but what exactly are we talking about here?
Something smells fishy.
Maybe UK should hire Butch Dykes to run the FB program...You know they'd toughen up the players...They're usually hired as security at LGBT bars. Not that there's anything wrong w/ that....
(Yeah, Going to Haites for that one! )
Now that's funny... I don't care who y'are!
Careful my friend... some may accuse you of being a conservative for making such insensitive off-color wise cracks. lol
Trust me... it's no fun being falsely accused or mislabeled as something you're not.
Btw... SORRY GUYS!
I wasn't trying to hijack the thread with off-topic goofy humor... NOW GET BACK TO BEING SERIOUS!
Hey Cats fans, greetings from Hatfield country, Ive been reading your posts on this topic and some of the same names have came to my mind for you guys as well. I think Tubbs would be a great hire but I think UT and/or Arky prob beats yall to him, Dykes would prob work but someone brought up a good point today on radio that he might wait and go Texas Tech WHEN Tubbs leaves ( I personally think Tubbs would kill to get back in the SEC and he is gone from Texas Tech this year), he has history there and his style prob fits better in the B12. Fulmer is interesting and I gotta admit I can see it working, age hasnt stopped Snyder at KState so... who knows? But one I wanted to bring up to the UK fans was Terry Bowden, any interest at all? Or Tommy for that matter? Or both? Just curious, going to be an interesting hire for UK to say the least.
A lot of chatter about Fulmer to Arkansas, but I still think the may go with Charlie Strong. I think the Vols are going to aim higher than Tuberville - Gruden or someone equally surprising.
Tennessee fans are dreaming about gruden. If its such a great job, why did they settle for a losing head coach from la tech last time?
They could have done a lot better than Dooley. Politics were clearly involved in that decision.
If you don't care to educate me---why was that politics? I could see if Dooley gets hired at Georgia. What was his "in" at Tennesee?
I just thought Kiffen left them in a bad position and they made a desperation hire.
I think Strong and Tuberville both make more sense at Arkansas, but that won't make it happen.
I think Fulmer to UK makes more sense that Fulmer to anywhere else in the SEC--UT is out, Auburn has very high expectations (perhaps unreasonable ones), and Arkansas has other potentials that seem to fit better. If he doesn't go to Arkansas, I think we'd have a shot.
A wildcard might be if somebody hires Dan Mullen away which could open another job and/or introduce a new dynamic.
TIFWIW, but I spoke to my father-in-law on Wednesday who is a Bama alum and booster. Also a personal friend of a high-profile agent that works with BCS coaches.
He said to me "what would you think about Mullen as your next coach?" I replied, "no way he'd come here." He said, "well, maybe not but his name has been mentioned in connection with a possible search."
What this tells me, and I have no reason to believe that Mullen's name was not discussed, is that we have no clue what we're looking for.

Very interesting interview by LV
By LARRY VAUGHT Howard Schnellenberger has one strong recommendation for the University of Kentucky if it does decide to make a coaching change. “If they do...
I've heard Mullen to Aubie, but not UK
