Hilarious board. LOL, classic.
I might bump this on daily basis. :-D no?
We got so many coaches here, sheesh I am wondering why Kentucky aren't hiring you guys instead of horrible Xs and Os coach like Cal. ROFLMAO
Oh i know..
1. You guys lack effort or heart, just like to criticize other people, even so you can't even do 50% of the work Cal does. (i can bet you 100% that your current work, you aren't putting as much effort as these players)
2. You guys don't have the basketball IQ to really be a coach.
3. You guys would probably be mentally too weak to handle the pressure anyways.
Why don't we be a fan, that's not so spoiled. We are having a rough start, but fortunately we have a coach that has shown in past 3 years to improve dramatically throughout the season.
We had a good chance to win today, even kellogg said it "Kentucky has taken a lot of good shot, but it just hasn't gone in." That's the reality of today's performance.
There is no doubt there are a lot of opportunity to improve, but talking about that versus attacking our coach are 2 different things. Why we can't just discuss some of our weakness in not so negative and attacking way, i don't understand.
I know I have the record from the Harrison twins threads back before they announced, but maybe I can break that record now.
lol What did you say about the Harrison twins that got you popped?
The only criticism I have of Cal is that he may have over-estimated what Harrow could do. After being here for over a year, you would think he would be better. Cal made a mistake in not signing another PG. That is all.
Wildmoon, I have seen a plethora of posts by you attacking other posters and now you come on here and act like the"Mother Theresa" of the internet, I just cant believe it. I usually dont say things like that about other posters but in this case Im making an exception and apologize to the other people on here.
I just put out the reasons that Maryland may have had a chance in the recruiting of the twins, thats it and you cant believe the reaction even though I repeated time after time I thought KY would get them no question about it.
Good call, Chris.
lol Oh I can believe it. I'm a liberal that posts about politics over in the paddock where 97% of the posters are extreme right wingers. I know all about the rabid dogs feeding frenzy lol
I've seen a couple of comments that Cal is "playing the hand he was dealt". He wasn't dealt the hand, he chose it. Just saying.
Chris is the one repeating that one. And he's right to a certain extent. So are you. I'm sure Cal wasn't expecting Harrow to bail like that. But Cal did pick Goodwin to be his backup PG in case Harrow didn't work out. So ya see? You are both right at the same time.
I havent critisized coach Cal but you are right, although the PG spot was weak in last years players he chose not to recruit anyone else and thats not a put down but just fact. He must have thought a lot of Harrow to not go after a fall back PG and I am still hoping Harrow works out fine but he has a ways to go. I just want him to be the PG that can carry this team deep into the tourney and I dont expect him to be like Wall,Teague etc. just be himself and lead this team.
Moc, I think what you said in the opening was something you should have thought about a little longer. Like someone else said ND and Baylor arent mediocre teams and Cal is a very good Xs and Os coach as well as the best recrutier in modern times. BY no means is he perfect but he hasnt made too many mistakes in the last 3 years since weve been to the elite 8 and 2 final 4s and won a NC. He also has had the last 4 #1 recruting classes in the country. I cant find too many mistakes in that record can you.
The only thing proven in this thread is the correctness of my assertion:
There is no critical thought when it comes to Calipari and the program.
Some folks take it personal and can't separate emotional bias from logic and reason.
You are right about some fans in that they can only see straight ahead instead of being able to take in the full picture of whats going on all around them..

And one of my main contentions is that it is by design. You can't run your program that way and then automatically use it as an excuse for poor performance.
Just for arguments sake let's say that Andy Katz is right: This is a bubble team and it ultimately fails to make the NCAA tournament. In this scenario would you be unhappy and willing to put some of the blame on Calipari or would you just say "Well, we can't be in the tournament every year. We had a young team, etc. etc. etc."
And let me offer the opposite argument: What if the exact opposite happens? What if this team grows, Harrow comes around, the players perform outstanding and we make a nice tourney run? Not the Final Four but a decent tourney run. Will you laud Calipari for the way he brought along the team, the way he developed them into a successful unit?
Each season is a microcosm within its self. Nothing is guaranteed and nothing has certainty. The only thing I look for is trends and thus far I've seen some disturbing ones.
We're far closer to 2-5 than we are 6-0 and there seems to be a pattern developing that is disturbing and I don't believe (and again this is an opinion. An informed opinion but an opinion nonetheless) that all the decisions being made are the correct ones and I don't automatically assume that everything will work itself out, like many others seem to, because of nothing more than an unshakeable faith in Calipari or the relative ability or talent of any of the players.
I don't really see anything you said that was wrong in your original post. I think the problem is how you stated it. It comes off as angry. And I am not a mind reader but I think the anger is more about the rosey everything is perfect in UK and to say anything otherwise is blasphemy fans even more than anger at Cal. I know for sure the bashing you got here was way overboard for what was said. Let's break it down.
"Calipari isn't perfect and he doesn't walk on water". What's wrong with that statement? I think we'd all agree that statement is 100% correct. Can't we?
"He's not the greatest coach in the history of the game and he's not even the best x's and o's guy in the state." I think we'd all agree with the first part of this statement. The 2nd part is debatable but as much as we hate him I think we can all agree that Pitino is a very good x's and o's coach. Being 2nd to Pitino in x's and o's isn't really that much of an insult. I can see both sides of that argument. Certainly not a statement worthy of the bashing received.
"No excuse for the last two performances against mediocre competition and one of the worst bench coaches (in my opinion) in America." How can you not agree with that? Or if not agree with it at least understand where it's coming from. 4-3 when we're used to winning for awhile you'd think people would understand the frustration if not be frustrated themselves.
"Youth? This is the way Calipari wants it and he should live with the criticism he gets imho" Now this is where we run into trouble lol I understand what you're saying but this is the statement I disagree with the most and what I think people might find the most insulting. Of course people like me that disagree with it might say, "well Cal is just playing by the one and done rule. It's not his fault the rule is how it is." That would be better than the mouth frothing bashing.
So for these statements he got 11 down votes and counting I'm sure, told he should be banned, and I'm pretty sure I saw someone call him the offspring of Hitler and the Antichrist lol Ridiculous.
I agree. I should have worded the message far more diplomatically. Reading it, the frustration and disappointment of the last two games most definitely affected how I worded the title. It was far more inflammatory than I intended.
But I do not, in any circumstance, back down from my stance or the argument itself. What I would have loved is a logical, disproof or some valid counterpoints other than "It's Calipari", "You're a horrible fan", "We won an NC last season!" or "We're young".
I feel that no one did that and just feed into their emotions. No one likes to be challenged or questioned. They take it as a personal affront.
And as to the last point you brought up I'm in total agreement with Calipari: He's using a rule not of his own invention or design to the best of his ability. But on the other hand no one's putting a gun to his head and making him do it either. No one's stopping him from recruiting a handful of guys he can develop (he had those guys in Memphis. He had those types @ UMass...his whole program was built around those guys) over the course of their careers and be key, veteran contributors.

C'mon.. can't we all just be friends??? It all boils down to we can't stand losing, but we hate people pointing out the obvious even more!!! I'm just so happy to be past the Tubby and BCG crap we lived through... I'll bite my tongue while this team matures (I hope!).
Yeah I didn't even mention the title. That title got ya off on the wrong foot for sure.
I agree with everything you said with Archie playing off point. But at point guard hunting his shot all the time is a detriment to the team. That and rushing in with the ball running into 4 defenders throwing up an off balance backward shot instead of kicking it to an open man. Playing off the ball though he could be a superstar.
hahaha, interesting. So defending coach Cal and his players are not okay but being critical of the posters who over react is out of line.
Sleepy the Hypocrite? or does truth hurt you?
The fact that you felt the need to "defend" anything is a huge part of the problem I pointed out. In fact, most aren't "defending" anything. They're "protecting" from anything that would countermand or disrupt their beliefs.
Here is my contention. Name me any team that won it all, then, lost 95% of scoring and rebounding. Those guys all left together because honestly, how much hotter is your name going to get if you come back and fall short. Then brings in a completely new set of players that many people expect to be good enough to compete for another Final Four.
Most teams are truly in a rebuilding mode like Florida after they lost their entire starting five.
You can't. The circumstances are, that had we not won it all Teague is probably back this year. He's not though. Also, Harrow got cold feet or whatever happened. So taking all that in account, when, not if but when this team clicks Cal will be praised for getting them to play together and hard every single play because that is what he does. But it will take time. Right now they are flat out young.
I mean when Cal says he draws up a play out of a timeout and the guys completely forget it and end up jacking up an off balance shot, what else can he do? Take them out? Put in Jarrod Polson? Hood? When these guys finally get it. Wrong will be tough to beat.
Questioning somebody you watch on tv's effort proves a lot about you.
