Some of this just sounds sick to me.
The news keeps getting worse for Billy Gillispie. Jeff Goodman says Texas Tech players and assistant coaches allege mistreatment on the part of the embattled coach, who remains hospitalized.
Goodman drives me nuts with his WWW obsession but this is some good reporting on his part.
Yeah, the guy has mental issues. Massive failure by Barnhart on that hire and amazing to me he kept his job. Football and other sports aside, hiring that guy should cost any AD his job IMO. I don't care what the guy has done for the overall athletic department.
I know some won't agree with that, but that's how I feel. Grossly negligent in that hire. Even worse for the Texas Tech AD.
You'll never convince me otherwise but I strongly suspect that Kentucky "broke" Gillispie. Not that he didn't have odd traits, personality quirks or a drinking problem before he arrived but the spotlight and pressure were so much that I think he's gone mentally.
I've always said you need two things to survive in the job at Kentucky: Strong ego or strong character. I saw the cracks from the beginning and was never fully onboard. People called me crazy, questioned my fanhood...didn't matter. There was something wrong and "off" about him from the get go and it showed on the court.
Wow. This dude needs a mental evaluation. Quickly. Dude is off his friggin' rocker. (and that might be an understatement!)
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Couldn't have said it better...
Absolutely. The alarm bell for me went off with the Gardner-Webb game. It wasn't that we LOST on our home floor to a team with a fraction of the talent. It was us getting BLOWN OFF OUR HOME FLOOR by a team with the fraction of the talent, all the while Gillispie was squatted down with that patented smirk on his face as if he could give a shat less, and the he knew something the rest of us didn't and the joke was on us.
When the complete "vetting" of the Gillispie Era at Texas A&M finally came to light (AFTER he was hired by UK), it was made clear to all that this maniac had just as many issues at College Station as he did in Lexington.
Geez when you run a kid named Wannah Ball off you've lost it.
This is obviously not about trying to create a winner either. I mean he's screwing over coaches left and right.
Those stories are eerily similar to the ones I've been told about his time here.
Good post.. The guy has some MAJOR issues that he needs to get worked out and apparently there is more to it than alcohol..
I have spoken with several former UK players and ALL of the stories are 100% TRUE.... What a joke of a man, it is kind of funny thinking about him getting the radio broadcasters, etc in the layup lines and making them run the steps. wow....
Good post. Something is not right in CBG's head and here's hoping he gets help which he so clearly needs.
trying to renew. lost my rating, name and amount of posts. this sucks
You already have an account. No need to sign up again. I think I can merge them.
Your team. All the time.
Sent you an e-mail about this a day or two ago. Account is fine and in good standing. No need to renew at this point. Posts are back. Thanks.
Sounds like some mental illness going on. Narcissistic personality, or Borderline personality or just straight up Bi Polar mixed with some alcoholism.
Not to be the grammar police, but, it's Wannah Bail. At least that's what the article said. You could be right though, I thought it was pretty funny, as well. I guess he did want to bail.

Mike Pratt opened up yesterday on matt jones' show. He said it was obvious to himself and a few other highly regarded basketball minds that the Gillispie hire was a massive fail after watching him iteract with people during his very first week on the job. Said it was further solidified after watching Gillispie conduct his first practice. Warning bells were buzzing before the guy ever unpacked his suitcase.
Could not agree more. I think the pressure of Kentucky sent him over the cliff he was standing at the edge of when hired. I thought he was a good basketball coach when hired but just seemed a little "different". I think KY just totally broke him down and he will never be the same.
Yeah it is. Nevermind. Wannah Bail was always gonna bail.
