any chance this guy lives up to his 4* rating out of high school and succeeds under the coaching of the new staff, hes gone through injuries and other problems but could be another guy we see have success.
JMO but with this staff I think there is a good chance that he does.
hes 6-2 200 plus pounds, All american..... so i hope he gets it together this year.
He is just a redshirt sophomore, right?
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference (Frost).
He's got all the tangible skills to be good but he's also basically not played any meaningful football in two years given he was seldom used in 2011 and then injured all of 2012. It may take some time. That's a long time away from the game.
Actually when he gets to play under a defense where they don't allow a QB, 5 seconds or more to throw the ball, I think you will see a big improvement in all of the defensive backs.
It was well known the previous staff played favorites and didn't put the best 22 guys on the field. Hopefully Faulkner was one of those guys. I know Douglas and Coleman are.
The previous staff loved Faulkner
i have always been waiting for him to be a big playmaker on the back of the defense. but injuries have set him back
I strongly suggest that we do not judge the players, based on this former coaching staff. It all starts new. Completely new staff, new offense and defense, new attitude, new goals, revived spirit and excitement for many of the playters. There will be sleepers that will rise, there will some to continue as we've seen and there will be some from the past not fair so well. The great thing now is that each and every players gets to start over, get rid of the labels that were put on them by the former coaching staff and prove themselves. We as fans, need to be fair and let this new coaching staff evaluate each player and go from there. I believe that 85% of the players will rise.
I agree with that imo i think the previous staff either couldnt for whatever reason get the most out of each player or they just gave up on the players who needed more coaching.
I wouldn't mind a 2-deep rotation of:

that would be a pretty good rotation, this team isnt use to having depth at any position really.
Faulkner I imagine is pretty hungry right now. You don't get to his level of achievement without being a fierce competitor. He should be ready to shine.
Z Blaylock So
I believe Lowery and D Blaylock will move to OLB and Simmons will move from CB
Not a bad group of safety prospects but McWilson should definitely make the 2 deep.
S Blaylock RSFr
Not too bad either but adding Juco Willis, Hytchye and McClain will definitely help. I suspect the staff would like to add one more to this mix if possible. Walkon Jerry Williams RSFR (converted WR) was fairly impressive in practice as well.

I know it is a bit early to worry about this, but where does Harmon stand as far as scholarship numbers are concerned? Has anyone heard if he officially has one? His size, ability and experience certainly warrant one. With the direction we are headed in this recruiting cycle, I see the chances of walkons, preferred or not, playing any minutes being a thing of the past. Will be curious to see how this plays out now that roster numbers are becoming tight.
"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up."
Pretty sure Harmon can't go on scholarship until his 3rd year because he was a 'recruited walkon'.
You hit it dead on bravesfan32691 !
I thought he was promised one by Joker heading into this year? Hopefully we can get him on SS, kid played his ass off. IMO our best returning DB. Has the size and skill to play 4 positions in the secondary from cb to FS/SS to Nickel back... Harmon is so physical I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops. Go Cats!
I would be interested in knowing who were the favorites that played and who were the better players who were left out? I have heard this statement many times, but have never seen any names of who was getting slighted.
Bear Bryant rule.
Suchy did you not watch any games the last 3 yrs?
