Interesting look back at Gillispie's UK recruits and where they are now:
When UTEP's Konner Tucker missed a 3-pointer last night with Billy Gillispie in attendance, it got me thinking. Tucker was an ex-Gillispie commit back in the day. Whatever happened to all those Gillispie recruits back in the day while he was at UK? Here's your answer.
Goodman is wrong about Jodie Meeks, he was a Tubby Smith recruit. He played in 06-07 for Tubby.
Oh, wow. That is scary to think about. That was almost our team...
I remember a lot of UK fans screaming for Otis Gillispie to offer Hunter "The Ankle Breaker" McClintock
Hahahaha. You didn't know basketball if you didn't think he was Pistol Pete McClintock in those YouTube videos!
And if I'm not mistaken, McClintock was never committed to Gillispie or UK.
You are exactly right Chris, he never committed to play for us.
Matt, good info but I have 1 disagreement in what you said. It may be interesting but it scares the crap out of me to think they could have played at UK. Just had a cold shiver go up my spine. Just kidding Matt, good link and it was an interesting look into BCGs recruiting prowess or lack there of.

Ohh how lucky we are now. What a list!! I remember everyone thinking Pilgrim was such a beast lol
Wow, scary to think about it. The real scary thing is that at the time we thought we were bringing in good players, only now do we realize how far we had fallen. THANK GOD FOR COACH CAL!
all those NBA players he talked about bringing in talent and he didn't even mention Darius. STILL getting the short end of the stick
But to think some fans are so disappointed in this year's team, it blows my mind.
I will speak for myself and say its not that Im disappointed because Im not but that its concern on at least in a limited basis. That concern will either be relieved or increased especially after the semester break and how much this team has improved and how they play against UL. They dont even have to win the game but if they play hard for all 40 minutes or close to 40 minutes and if they win fine but if they lose I will know they gave it all they had and were beaten fairly by a better team on that particular day. That in and of itself is a victory. GO CATS
I wonder what Cal's first 3 teams would have looked looked like without PPat, Harrelson, Liggins and Miller. Those guys were huge giving us some experience mixed in with our young studs.

I have said that Harrellson, when he finally caught on to what Cal was trying to get through to him became the most important player on that team and made it possible for them to get to the final four. I just wish that they could have slowed down the buzz saw named Kemba Walker just a little then they would have won #8 and #9 would have been in the books last year.
^True. However, it was Cal that fully developed Darius, Deandre and Jorts. PPat was already pretty developed as a player when Cal got here but Cal is responsible for the other 3 getting into the league.
I for one was never on board with BCG. 95% of this state loved him, and said he was this GREAT Recruiter, yet no one could name a single recruit of his other than A.C.Law.
I'm glad the truth finally came out on this sleeze.
No question but they wouldn't have been on the team for him to develop. Granted somebody else would have been. But it was BCG who liked those Big Guards/Wing players like Darius and Deandre. Plus he was relentless in trying to find players and he went out and found a gem like Harrelson. Although it took a coach like Cal to make Harrelson into that gem that he was supposed to be. Cal certainly deserves the vast majority of the credit. Things happen for a reason though. Without BCG maybe we don't have Cal right now.
I dont know if anyone noticed but I noticed how BCG responded to the female on air personality that asked him ?s at halftime in 2 games and he was very rude, crude and condescending toward the woman. He was like that with a lot of people that interviewed him and there were rumors at the same time that the players didnt like to play for him and I could tell that from the way they reacted during the games. But like tWhit said we may not have gotten Cal if not for BCG being here 1st so thankyou BCG

There's probably 1 or 2 still in middle school.
It's Cal's fault that we're spoiled. Heehee!
