Wouldn't Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy have benefited greatly from such support? Aren't A'Dia Matthis and others up for women's post-season awards? Does UK really think the men's basketball program needs additional promotion and advertising? Sometimes all you can do is just shake your head at the UK athletic administration and laugh as they contine to shoot themselves in the foot...
It won't let me post the dang link for some reason: http://interactive.ukathletics.com/mbbawards12/

New ideas start somewhere. Did they do this last year? Maybe it is new and men's basketball was the first they did.
To me its not a question of does the men's bball team really need it, but why not put forth the same effort, creativeness, etc to the football program? I don't want to do anything to mess with the bball program but there is plenty more to do to help the football program and to increase revenues from football (which helps the entire athletic dept.).
A point that seems completely lost on whomever runs UK athletics...
