Does he have a few good years left in him? Maybe he can come in just long enough to clean things up... or at least, head the committee that will help find our next "winning" HC. It's a shame he was never given the opportunity to coach at UK... he deserved a shot. Mitch should ask him to come out of retirement to help turn the program around (in some capacity). Let UK be the final program to write the man a paycheck, before he retires for good... I think we owe him that much.

Keep Calm & Stoops On..
I think Howard wanted the job 30 years ago. If they had offered him the job then things would have been a lot different the last 20-30 years.
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
As an alumnus of UK and a great coach I think it might not be a bad thing to include him in the search process. But he fought at the Alamo. There's a reason Rich Brooks left when he did. Hell, it's the reason Rupp went down fighting. There's an age limit of 70 for employees. He isnt eligible for the position.
I'm afraid that 78 is too old.
Only if he hires the ghost of the Bear as a coordinator.
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." ~ Emerson
Maybe he puts us on a collision course with the Music City Bowl.
His age is against him, although if he were to be on board as an "advisor" of some sort I would be all for it, and it would not be a violation of the age law(which I have to say, I believe is ILLEGAL because it's age discrimination!)
I love basketball, and all our basketball program has done for us, the fans is nothing short of incredible. However, the UKAA and some of our former AD's have done little short of ZERO to help us be competitive in football. Somehow, some way, this attitude against football needs to change.
I honestly believe that if HS had been given the reins to the football program those many years ago that Kentucky football would not be struggling like it is now, and that we might even be in the discussion for SEC & NCAA championships in football.
"Coulda, woulda, shoulda" as Coach Claiborne used to say.
Maybe we could re-hire the Bear. In comparison to Howard, he's not that dead.
I attended a clinic where Howard spoke years ago. He would have never , ever taken the Kentucky job. He said so in the clinic. The reason, the schedule was too demanding. Straight from his mouth. Said he loved UK, his Alma mater, but they could never schedule themselves into contention for a championship...................he is done now anyway. 78 years of football, pipe smoking and whiskey takes its toll at some point.
It helps you take the toll of life. Might not be at 78 without it. lol.
The past is the past I wanna see UK find someone that can embrace the schedule. The great thing about the SEC is if you have a solid year its rewarded and people respect it.
Would like to see UK honor Schnellenberger now that he's retired. Feel like it's been a while since he's been back.
