We are not recruiting Kentucky. That is the real problem. The lie that Kentucky doesnt play good enough football to put kids in the SEC is getting old. The UK coaching staff should be living with these great "Kentucky" HS teams and the players they produce. The UK coaching staff should also look to see what those schools are doing that makes their football teams so good and export it around the state.. No UK football coach since Curci was involved with Kentucky HS football.

Put on football clinics free to the states football coaches. Teach them what they need to teach their kids about nutrition and strength training. IMHO, their is a lot of slacking going on at UK and the committment to Kentucky.

Dude you don't even know the difference between offers and interests when your looking at a recruiting site. Please quit it already.

  • Hey Dude, you don't know the difference between a real football program and a snow job.

And as far as recruiting goes, since offers mean nothing and are as useful as "interest" the bottom line is results. Lets see who signs with UK when it is all said and done and then you can be a recruiting expert until then, Dude your opinion is worthless

  • I will say this but one time. Cursi asked the AD when he got to UK do you want a winner or a avg team.
to win I must cut the corners alot. The AD said do what you need to win. So Fran did just that. Lville is in the same boat and I will say this Lville will have the NCAA at them within 3 yrs. This is Strongs first head job and he want to win to move on. and he will and when the NCAA starts to snooooop he ill leave to take another job.. PERIOD.

. Personally I think it is going to take some embarrassing losses to UL and Vandy to make this AD see the light. Pretty evident he does not care how we recruit or how we play on the field. It is not getting the job done in any league.

That is not the impression I get from listening to him on the pre-game radio programs. He seems to care a lot.

Its like you root against us finishing strong on the recruiting trail. Really everybody is sick of it. Just very uninformed.

Actually you never follow recruiting. . . here is your quote. . .

"Living in Taiwan I never follow recruiting but I do like to see who from Kentucky goes to UK."

    That is F U N N Y ! LOL

This quote shall forever and always be used each and everytime this clown dares to speak (or type, whatever ...) on recruiting.

  • LOD is in full effect in this thread. How the hell do you say in one sentence that you know nothing about recruiting, then bitch about recruiting? I try to hold my tongue and never speak ill of other Marines but that is just flat out ridiculous Hot. Kentucky has missed with some guys and things arent going perfect. Not by a long shot. We are improving recruiting though and its gonna take YEARS to get to the top of the totem pole. I dont think people understand just how bad we were. Not only did we get put on probation but we were a very average team when that happened. Do I know that Joker is the man for the job? No. Does he have my support until he isnt the coach? Yes. Just like the next guy will. I am a fan of UK. Point Blank. All of you incessantly bitching about recruiting and saying we need this and we need that, do something about it. I see you bitching on here every damn day. How about you make yourselves useful and get together, maybe you can become a mega booster and you can have Joker fired. I want a perennial winning team just as much as anyone. The difference is I know it doesnt happen overnight. Every factor that you can name is against UK doing that though.

  • Here are the facts.

    A. Joker will be our coach next year.
    B. barring something crazy happening we will sign one of our deepest and best recruiting classes In school history.
    C. That still puts us firmly In the bottom of the sec.
    D. Our season next year hinges on the uofl game.
    E. If maxwell smith progresses and we find a credible receiver or two we will be in much better shape in that game than most of you want to admit.
    F. If joker doesn't get to 6 wins next year he won't be our coach in 2013. If he only gets six Barnhart may get rid of him anyway.
    G. The constant agenda posting scares away level headed posters. Mods need to do something to stop it.

  • 1. Who cares about UofL? I do not. They're in the Big East. UK is in the SEC. I know UK plays them each year, but I am not a fan of comparing the two.

    2. Let's see if these players make it to Louisville.

What's funny to me bro is the fact that some on here rant and bitch like we were at the top of the mountain and the last 6-8 years we have fallen off and demand that we get to the top tier of the conference right away. But those who expect us to have a top recruiting class in the conference tend to forget (or in Hot's case just doesn't have a clue how it works...his own admission) that these top tier sec schools have YEARS AND YEARS of tradition and winning that has gotten them to this point. It takes time to build a power. Sure, you can have immediate success and win noe but that doesn't equate into building a perennial power. Look how long it took Oregon in a conference with basically only one power (USC) to contend with. Our beloved football program has been terrible for decades. To see "fans" (word used loosely) bitch because 6 wins is no longer enough should be proof enough that we are headed in the right direction. It wasn't too long ago the majority of this fan base literally begged for a program that could win at least 6 games a year and play in a bowl game ...now that's not enough. That alone is PROOF that we are headed in the right direction.

As for recruiting, if someone does not recognize the vast improvement of our athletes now playing football here as well as the recruiting over the last few years then I'd guess they lived somewhere like Taiwan and has no clue what's really going on.

Last year was a set back because of the lack of recruiting going into Jokers taking over, which most of us kinda knew was going to happen. Need proof again? Look at the roster, outside of Danny and Guy, where's the talent? Not seniors or Juniors, freshman and Sophomores.

And that's OK, because its haters like that that made Papa's success so much sweeter as they were the ones screaming for his head. The wins over schools like LSU, F$U, Clemson, UGA, Auburn, USCjr, UofHell (in 07') UT and even ECU as they said we had no chance. I'm glad we have the haters and the clueless...makes it so much more fun to say HAHAHAHAHA SUCK IT!

Burgess is a 4 star according to ESPN.

They've also got 4 Star Army All American Gerald Holliman cleared and ready to begin Spring Practice who will join his former 4 star teammate Andrew Johnson (who started as a true frosh at UL).

They also landed former 4 star Universtiy of Florida TE Gerald Christianson (scored a big TD against UK this year) and 4 star DB (Clarke) from Florida.

In all, they've landed 8 Army All Americans in 3 years- Bridgwater, Butler, Christianson, Clarke, Holliman, Johnson, Dawson and Brown.

Somebody forgot to tell Charlie Strong and his staff that the state of KY is simply too big of a geographic disadvantage to compete.

Contrary to the BBN conventional wisdom, I believe UofL in the easy Big East is a recruiting advantage for them. They can dominate and get to a BCS bowl and we are in a toughest conference in football this side of the NFL. I say it's much better to be in a conference where you are competitive than to be non-competitive in a very difficult league.

Kids want to win and have fun. To me, that trumps wanting to play in the SEC on a team that struggles to win.

  • Honestly I agree with that ajp. Like you said most kids want to win and have fun. How much easier is it do that in the BE? No matter what you do each year you are in the running for a BCS bowl.

That goes away when the big east loses its bcs bid in the next two years.

I think that may be true with some kids, but how many times have you heard recruits say something about the chance of playing in the SEC played a huge factor in their decision.

There are a ton of factors that go into recruiting and each kids recruitment is different. Some don't care about winning, only their potential pro careers, some its about geography and location, winning, playing time, and many more...it goes on and on.

I could have quoted everything that Real Deal 2 said in the entire post, but this pretty much summarizes it. Some of you guys are fired up because Cody Core, Troy commit(!!) is going to visit us. Unless he picks Arkansas State instead. Some look at a one minute video and say "wow, what a player". But no one in the SEC even notices or is even interested. It would be laughable, except that it makes me sad. I love UK, I love college football, I love Kentucky's football program. But we are heading for the bottom of the ocean at a rapid rate.

Why can't we ever solve the football problem?

Agreed....and disappointing to see someone actually bring up the old probation as a continued excuse for todays ills.

When has Joker ever given an excuse about recruiting? Please name one time.

We know your feelings about the subject. But I hate it when people make up shit.

No, I can't say I have heard Joker use this one, but I have heard dozens on this and other internet sites say that Kentucky can't recruit Cincy and Ohio, because all those kids grow up Big 10 and Notre Dame fans, they laugh at Kentucky, will never go here, blah, blah, blah

West Virginia has about 14 kids on their roster from Ohio, and at least three that I quickly counted that are starters and they would smoke us 3 out of 4 years

Louisville has a number of Ohio kids, including those from Cincy that are Josh Chichester, Greg Scruggs, Preston Brown, Dominique Brown. They have two commitments from Ohio kids this year, including an outstanding lineman from Cincy.

UC has a whole roster full of Ohio kids and also would smoke us 3 out of 4 years, LSU's best RB, Spencer Ware is from Cincy.

West Va and Louisville also have a TON of kids from Florida, including both starting QBs.

Apparently, a whole lot of kids in Ohio (and some in Florida) grow up wanting to play for Louisville, West Va, and UC but to hear some on here say it, it is just beyond all reasonable expectations that Kentucky be expected to do the same.

  • Louisville is benefiting from Miami being down. That will continue for a while as the NCAA is going to crush the U. They also seem to be the first one to call a kid that was commited to a team that had a coaching change. Seems to me Joker and staff are not sking the same.

  • Damn, I heard 'Bama, LSU and the BCS have cancelled the Nat'l Championship and are just shipping the trophy straight to UL. I hear they're going to be allowed to keep it as long as they want. Obviously, it's useless to send someone to play against them.

I mean, they are LINEBACKER U now. It's official, I saw it on Rivals. Guys, seriously. Those two freshmen linebackers are going to beat any team in the country.

Holy crap, did you see those offer lists?! HUGE! And the visits scheduled? Man, Brown chose UL over powerhouses Purdue, Illinois, South Florida, and Clemson. UL pulled Dawson from the clutches of former Linebacker U, N.C. State.

I mean, clearly, once UL got involved, there was no way Brown or Dawson wanted to use those visits to Georgia, Bama, Florida, Auburn, or Miami. I bet those schools were calling and begging those guys to visit but just couldn't overcome the lure of Charlie Strong.

Also, if you look at our recruiting class, literally none of them have BCS offers. I think most of the names on our list are actually winos that Joker intends to feed and shelter for four years. Also, all of UL's recruits called Nick Saban and Les Miles the day they heard from Strong and told those guys that no other coach could match Strong's peerless record in the mightiest conference in the nation.

Story goes, when Will Gardner chose UL over 'Bama, Nick Saban threatened to fire O.C. Jim McElwain and tried to commit suicide by swallowing his two Nat'l Championship rings.

  • IMO if UF has another bad year Strong will get a very hard look.
