Not unexpected, but it hurts our efforts. Going to be a rough year in-state.
win 7+ games and maybe we can sway him to our side. If not, best of luck to the kid.
Ya know, let them go and get the ones who wants to come.
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
the mindset that has this program where it is. UK will never be what people want it to be without keeping a majority of the elite in-state players. Huge blow to Joker Phillips and this program. A win vs UL and/or a bowl is pretty much a "must".
Look who came out to play!
This is one of the major challenges that face UK in football. While the 'Cats can not field a competitive team with KY kids, it must land the elite players the state produces. More often than not, these players head elsewhere.
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." ~ Emerson
And more often than not those players leave the state and never do anything more than add to a depth chart.
Very, very true.
great player, really liked ky last summer, UK is going to have to get what is left over in state and out of state
With all due respect, that is a BS attitude. Hell, lets just not recruit anyone in state then. No doubt Brandon Deadrick, Rob Smith, Chase Minniefield, Keith Tandy, Aaron Pettrey, Luke Stocker, et al, would not have made any difference at all in our record the last few years. Lets keep going down to Florida and Alabama and get all those sleepers that no one else in the SEC or ACC wanted that will ensure our 1-7 or 2-6 SEC records remain intact for the next 30 years or so.
Grew up a Notre Dame fan. UK was in for an uphill battle even being the in-state school.
Shouldn't you give credit to who reported it? The way it's posted gives the impression that it's your work...... Just saying.
and Cory Peters grew up an Ohio State fan.
and Tim Couch grew up a Tennessee fan.
Until we get a coaching staff that can at least lock down the vast majority of the admittedly rather small pool of top instate talent, we will never rise past the 2-6 mark, and maybe the occasional 3-5, with the every once in a while (ten years or so) 4-4 mark in the SEC. That is a fact.
and Mike Bush grew up a die hard Ohio State fan.
and Brian Brohm grew up a die hard Notre Dame fan.
UK simply must land more of the high end guys from the state. Still need to do very well out of state as well, but UK's best shot of landing true difference makers tends to be with the in-state kids. UK did a good job last recruiting class with Towles and Chapman. But they whiffed on Davis, Dawson, Parker, and Nichols in the previous class (did sign Miller and West). Things certainly aren't looking good for the top end guys in this next class (though happy to have Hyde).
You are absolutely right. Credit goes to Hunter for RTing everyone that congratulated him on committing today.
Had ND not offered I believe Hunter would have commited to LSU.
As the old saying goes: "Sh*t happens."
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
UK should have offered his brother earlier. He would have come to UK and who knows if Hunter would have followed but I think it would have been a big help. These are nice people who are very famly oriented. Even two years ago everyone knew that Hunter was going to be a big time recruit. Stupid move by the cats back then.
Ok, so we lost an instate player. Move on. Why all this the coaching staff cant get the good players in state and we will never win. Looks like UofL missed out on this one too. Why is nobody pointing out that out.
UK WAS NEAVER EVER GOING TO GET DAWSON FOR A FACT. I KNOW HIM AND HIS FAMILY VERY WELL. HE WANTED TO LEAVE THE STATE FOR A PERSONAL REASON. NO COACH NO ONE WAS GOING TO CHANGE HIM FROM THAT. SO DON'T USE DAWSONS NAME GUYS. HE GREW UP HERE BUT HE WAS NOT GOING TO STAY HERE. EVER EVER EVER EVER.
