It looks like they have had enough of Dooley in Knoxville. I thought that Petrino would jump on that job before UK. I just don't understand why Sal Sunseri leaves Alabama to become the DC under Dooley? He left a chance to coach his youngest son (and watch him play) at Alabama. I can only think the new AD at UT (Hart?) had to give Sunseri some kind of promise about the head coaching position.
I have a hard time believing the DC of the first SEC team in history to give up at least 37 points in first 6 SEC games of season will get that teams head coaching job.
No possible way! This is the worse D UT has seen in a long time, and you think they will reward him with the HC job? He left Bama to go from LB coach to be the DC, which probably included a big pay raise. The UT faithful hope he is on Dooleys coattails out the door.
Yeah, not to pile on but that seems about as likely as Randy Sanders being named head coach at UK tomorrow.
Sunseri was promoted to DC at UT, he was LB's coach at Alabama, he moved up the food chain plus got a pay raise, good move on his part. He will not get a sniff at head job, he will be a LB coach again somewhere else in the SEC. His other son is QB for Pitt.
Head coach? Seriously? It's unlikely that Sunseri will even be considered for a DC position anywhere in the FBS after he fielded the worst defense in UT history. He will likely go back to being a LB coach somewhere.
I hear what youguys are saying. I just don't understand the logic. You give up a chance to coach and watch your youngest son play for a couple 100K for one year? They thought Dooley was gone last year? Why leave Bama?
Sunseri's defense at TN is a dumpster fire. Doubt he is going to be the head coach.
Sunseri sucks worse than Dooley, they will both be out at the end of the season. Good luck on your coaching search, UT and UK both definitely need to make a good hire this time. Who do you guys think you will hire?
Do Vols fans want Petrino?
