Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Great first drive. Let Townes throw the ball some more.
No kidding... what kind of play calling was that crap on his 2nd series? The guy was 5 for 5 and you come back out and call 3 damn run plays... WTF?
You might want to watch him play more before you crown him a Manning.
All I ever said was... Towles is as ready for the SEC as any freshman I've ever seen and that he deserved a shot,... not an automatic RS.
If Smith was still healthy, rsing Towles was the right choice but Smith is done for the year and playing Towles now is the best shot we have left. Looks good so far besides protection and play calling. Whitlow needs to move to a slash role
I don't always post but when I do, I try to make things interesting
With Towles out for the second half we now will see if Whitlow can step up.

It has been a hard transition for me to go from such a Joker supporter to being ready for him and this ENTIRE staff to be gone. I am so ready for a change from Mitch all the way down to the football team's water boy.
Well, Towles had a good run this season.
He will go down as the most accurate passer in uk history. Good job by the cats playing a top 20 team 7-7 in the second half though.
That's on Towles. He should have checked to another play. The 9 man front was pretty obvious. That's the problem with playing freshman. He'll learn.
His arm is ready...his mindset is still too high school oriented. In the SEC, a QB can't struggle to get out of the grasp to avoid a sack (as a big kid like Towles could in high school). Your mind has to be conditioned to GO DOWN or you risk injury. When the coaches said he wasn't ready, it obviously included his mindset as well as his physical tools and too many fans overlook that aspect. If he comes back quickly from this injury lets see if he goes down voluntarily the next time he's being sacked (showing he's learned) or if he still struggles.
I can't understand the skepticism underlying most of the comments here. For by far the greatest part of his playing time, Towles was simply SENSATIONAL. His attitude was exactly what we need and his talent was clearly evident.
I think we played well today given the current injuries. Both towles and whitlow looked good to me. I just think sanders needs to be back in the qb coach role, or on his way. The play calling drove me nuts today more than usual. That, and giving up 156 yards on 3rd downs lol
Dear God the kid comes from the scout team and gets one week of practice and looks like that. Wow!
I don't think anyone is knocking his ability, potential, and the way he actually played. I think many posters were wanting him to have a "shot" and not have him be automatically RS'd. This puzzles me. He did have a shot. The staff determined that Smith knew the game better at this point in his career and that he'd be the starter. They determined that Whitlow would be 2nd since he has the ability to run.
Why not RS? It's the logical choice. Towles has the most potential of all our QB's, but he wasn't the most ready for this yr. So how do you maximize his growth and potential? When you have a better option for right now, you RS him. Now that Smith has gone down, then you play him. But you be realistic about it. He is never had to read defenses, he knows very little of the playbook, and what he does know it is going to be slow in thinking/reacting. Do to his ability he is going to have awe inspiring moments, but he's a freshman that is still learning.......he is going to make terrible mistakes.
With all that I just said, I am really impressed with our QB's. Smith, Whitlow, and Towles have all been very, very, very impressive......and the oldest is a true sophomore.
And we will have 3 quality QB's in the same sophomore class guaranteeing that 2 will transfer and leaving us with one in the program.
Petrino would make Towles an AA at UK.
Problem is Joker will be confused about who to play at UK because he can't understand that their are practice players and their are gamers. Towles is a gamer and Joker will ruin him.
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
Maybe it wasn't about Towles's talent, maybe it was about the team that was going to be around him this year.
