Do you go with Newton? Or, do you try a Cobbins, Fields, King, Brause..All those guys were QBs in HS.. If you were Jokerin that situation, what would be your plan?
You curse the gods, then hide Andre Woodson is someone else's uniform and play him.
I'd say if one of the Frosh goes down, Morgan Newton starts taking regular practices reps @ QB and you prep Bookie some also (possibly some Wildcat packages to start).
That's easy: it would be Newton. As for Cobbins, until he gets his stuff together off the field and starts showing the staff he can be counted on to do what he's supposed to he's not going to see the field at all, let alone at a position as important as QB.
only at UK, might that actually happen! or UL basketball.
Real easy - Newton. You don't just prep former HS QB's for a week and think they can go.Especially if they are not even on the offensive side of the ball.
What ever happened to the kid that transferred from Eastern Ky?
Jake Russell? He left football and is a walk on for baseball team I believe.
True, it's not typical, but, you know what you're not gonna get from Newton and that's a legit chance to win. I don't know if he's still struggling with his arm from surgery or what, but, he's just too innacurate and too slow to get out of the pocket and takes too long to make decisions.. I wish he were a better option, but, right now, he's just not.. It's not like we didn't do the same thing last year against UT and had some success, moreso than what I think Morgan brings, at this point.
Not for nothin ', but how 'bout we stop pre-supposing further disasters for the remainder of this season? I think we've about had more than our fair share already!
I believe there is a disconnect between Newton and receivers - for whatever the reason may be. And I draw that conclusion from the remarks made by Newton about being post Cobb, Matthews days and pre Sweat, Robinson days. Perhaps I am reading into it, but that is what it tells me. So with that, I am not saying Newton is the best option, but I don't see us pulling off another UT trick like we did last year. We caught a UT down and took advantage of it and had some "luck" on our side as well. I believe they would go Newton before any of these Cobbins, Fields, King, Brause. IMO
