I was reading this story and saw Brandon Thurmond and Deaunte Mason's names. Seemed like the staff had high hopes for Thurmond but I don't remember the circumstances of both departures.
Wow. Had completely forgotten about both of those guys.
Mason left because he wanted to play quarterback. I seem to remember Thurmond having a series of knee injuries.
Thanks for posting and welcome to House of Blue Kocat
I had forgotten about Thurmond. I don't think either would have been a difference maker.
Thurmond had either three or four knee injuries during his time at UK, can't remember which.
In that case, it's pretty incredible that he was able to continue playing.
That's not the same Brandon Thurmond. The kid at UK was a LB and he finished on a medical scholly. Mason was a good looking prospect at of Peal Cohn in Nashvile. His teammate was a good looking LB prospect that transfered also. Just think? He could be playing the Sam Linebacker for us as a senior
Teammate was William Johnson.
Deaunte Mason was not equipped to play quarterback in the SEC and was not a good enough athlete to move to another position.
Poor evaluation of talent by UK on this kid.
Thanks Chris and Josh! I have been on these boards reading for years, only now got around to making a post.
Welcome to the discussion!
