On ESPN Rumor it shows as if Kentucky's Twany Beckham might transfer because possibility of playing time. Is there any truth to this or is ESPN starting rumors?
Check out the latest College Basketball rumors and opinions at ESPN's Rumor Central.
If he expected a lot of playing time when he transferred to UK then I have no idea what he was thinking.
I don't know either, I am just curious how this is all brought up today without anyone bringing this up from the uk side.
Beckham transferred to UK and was willing to walk-on because it was his dream to play here. Can't imagine him leaving for more playing time knowing it was probably going to be scarce to begin with.
Yep. Likely pot stirring by espn. Beckham is one of the most popular players on the team and coach cal really likes him as a kid. Also a very good student.
That is what i was thinking is ESPN just stirring the pot. I knew UK was his dream school when he transferred from Miss. St.
True. And his opportunity just increased by at least 50%

That site seems to be stretching for a story. A one liner that could be said about every bench player in America who doesn't get minutes.
Hey guys and gals relax!!! If you make up a story that has UK in it, that story will sell like hot cakes..
As we know it does not have to be the truth, not even close to the truth. Just make some crap up and hope it sticks :)
Very true Espn is losing credit in my eyes with these rumors that really have no reasoning behind them.
Twany chose UK over other state schools that he could probably have played at.
The reasoning he chose this route was because he wants/wanted at the time to become a coach in the future...nobody better to learn from and make contacts with than coach Cal and staff.
Twany cant create his own offense, which is why he wont play much...and this would be a problem at any D1 school he would transfer to. He could be a litte better D2 offensively.
Um, you're wrong. I played with Twany and athletically he can compete with these guys. His problem does not lie in his athletic ability. It's somewhere with more altitude so to speak. Plus, the guy is a PG through and through. Cal has said on record he can't play PG for him because he doesn't understand how to run that position for him.
His chance to play?
Yeah. Somebody else has to play a few minutes in the backcourt. I figure it's between Hood and Beckham.
That's what I thought. I could see him getting some more PT next year, but not anything more than average spot minutes. Might find himself playing extended minutes if the backcourt guys find themselves in foul trouble at the same time.
I would lean it to more of beckham since he is known mainly as a defender and Hood doesn't play that great of defense nor do I think he will be 100 percent.
Beckham dont have to play. Cal got by with two guards last yr(Teague/ Lamb) he will have 3 this yr in Harrow/Goodwin/Mays. I think his chances decreased honestly
I see Hood gettin the minutes between them if either play much bcuz Hood is tall enough to play SF behind Poythress
This is why I rely more on Fox Sports, than ESPN. The last time I made this confession, some thought I was nuts.... I guess I'm still nuts.
Umm youre wrong bud.
I graduated in Twanys class...coached another sport at Ballard and talked with a guy close to Twany on his reasons for transferring.
I didnt say anything about athletic ability. He is athletic, but he cant create his own shot...he is decent at finishing, but cant shoot. He wasnt even the most athletic guy or best player on his hs team, although he was the better prospect.
But to your athletic point, he still isnt as most athletic as high D1 guys because he isnt very fluid.
Oh and if you were wondering...Jonathan Gholson was the best athlete, Johonne was the best player on the team and both Gowers and Stanley were better shooters than Twany.
Twanny doesn't have an attitude problem. He's very well liked and cal enjoys having him on the team. Twanny's problem is the same as any other low sec/mid-major player. He has been playing behind first round picks.
So does anyone know if he is leaving? Just a rumor?
It will be his 6th year out of HS coming up...I doubt he will move to another place.
Guess he could drop to Bellarmine or Cambellsville...something like that...but his reasoning to go to UK was to become a coach in the future. He had a chance to go to either morehead or Murray out of MSU.
Keep in mind that everything changed 6 weeks ago.
Now he has a Championship Ring
....And a chance to get his 2nd ring! Plus, participate more in getting #2. That's #9 for us, but who's counting?
