Two years ago what should have been another high point for UK was levelled by fan negativity, as UK beat Spurrier. Seems things have just not gained any momentum since then. Even with a great win over UT, it's sort of a step sideways since the scheme used does not resemble anything close to the ideal scheme the staff wants to run.
Is it possible UK missed the boat on the multipurpose QB led offense? Was that a ship that UK should have boarded with more determination when Brooks came in? Was the Pulley situation the hole in the dike? Should they have switched over to that when they had a huge playmaker in Cobb, then recruited to that strength for his sophomore and junior years, getting the offense ready for Newton and those to follow?
Will closed practices further deflate the spring game and interest/hype in football, or will it help in any way?
Does it hurt Joker with fans and the media that he said when Brooks was HC, "if it were up to him, ALL practices would be open", then has made spring access less open to the public AND media than his predecessor? Does it not matter because only a few hand-fulls of diehard football fans and the media go anyway now that the hype is nearly gone?
What does it say about the program that UL can put that many fannies in the seats for a spring game, and UK's will be less than an after thought for most?
What does it take for UK to realize that this Saturday hasn't been, still won't be, and may never be the best day to have this "football game? This Thursday evening, Friday night, or even Sunday day would be better than this Saturday. It seems UK always has a real tough time getting all their schedules coordinated and times arranged so that UK sports fans can enjoy 2 or 3 competitions on a single day, instead of choosing between them all.
I'll let y'all get back to your basketball coverage. Sorry to interrupt...
Haha UofLOL and their King of misinformation did not have 17,000 at their spring game. More like 10,000.
As for the rest?
I'll let you get back to your
What an original post. I mean. We haven't seen a post on here like this. (sarcasm).
In all seriousness. Do you just not care about the truth or are you really that misinformed?
obvious troll is obvious
This is what I think of UL's spring game.
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
Wow. Forgot how touchy internet fans are. I didn't know how many were there, and I didn't post a number, but even 10k is more than UK should expect.
I'll let you get back to your reading comprehension homework.
What about my post is not true?
I don't come on these very much anymore, so if it's not an original post, I can understand the overreactions. I didn't see any recent football posts on these topics. Thought there'd be more discussion about it.
I guess it's not something people can talk about right now.
I'll let you get back to "trollin, trollin, trolling down a river."

Charlie is that you?
The whine went well with the cheese, thank you. Don't be such a debbie downer and let this next season play out. It will keep gray hair and an a bad stomach from hitting you all summer. The more I read the more poser comes to mind.

Things have happened. Mistakes have been made. They happen everywhere. So give it a rest and lets start to create some positive momentum. Believe it or not we can create positive momentum on our own as fans. The guys that are in this program now don't need the burden of a bunch of sore butt fans.
^I don't agree. If we beat UL, or even play them close, we create positive momentum. If we lose by more than one score and look terrible doing it, all hope for momentum will be lost. Uk definitely has the ability to creat positive momentum for itself starting game #1, but imo, the fans have absolutely nothing to do with it. It's all riding on the coaches and players.
I understand why some of you get sick of hearing people complain all the time, but I don't understand those of you that ignore our obvious weaknesses and act like everything is all hunky dory in UK football. Trust me, I wish with all my heart and soul that we would become competitive, and would rejoice if it was Joker that got us to become competitive, but to pretend everything is great when it's not is just setting yourself up for dissapointment. The only way to fix a problem is to admit there is a problem. I'm not confident the powers that be have ever really faced that fact about football, and that's why those of us that some of you call the LOD complain.
If what we think isn't going to change anything one way or the other then I choose to be positive and not make myself miserable about it. Personaly looking miserable in the process of losing to Louisville hasn't even entered my mind. I don't think about losing much. I tend to think about winning myself.
By the way whose ignoring obvious weaknesses. Certainly not myself. Just because you tend to focus on the positive doesn't mean that you somehow forget about the weaknesses.
Until the seasons over and we're sitting at 5-7 there is no reason to admit that we've got some kind of problem. If that does happen at that point we can address it. Otherwise what are we talking about.
there alot of people who are misinformed but everonre has the right to say what that want as long they do In a respectful manner, just because they say something you don't like doesn't mean they are liars or misinformed, defenders usually have" a different kind of truth "to coin a Van Halen phrase
Don't bother. Or join in and pump pump pump out that sunshine, to try and blind those who still care from the reality of our present situation.
Meh, maybe they do. When they see that only a smattering of fans care enough to show for the Spring game it will piss them all off to work 2X as hard this summer in workouts and informal player-organized practices. Dupree has already voiced some of that attitude that this team might need, the "nobody believes in us but us!" viewpoint can be a motivator that causes a team to do far better than they normally would.
For sure this team cannot hope to win more than 3 games if this summer's work effort is as awful/terrible/lazy like last year's was.
To paraphrase the most popular/common tweet last summer from those that were "supposed" to be leaders on the team: "where's the pool party at today?"
I have never understood the mentality of "My team isn't very good right now, I'm not going to watch them until changes are made"???? So when the chips are down you quit? Thank God you people aren't defending this Country!
We all see the problems right now and this team has some issues that need attention but that doesn't mean you turn your back on them. At this point all we can do is see what happens this season and go from there. Maybe you feel by turning your back on this program it will help make changes? Sorry but it's not.
I'm sick of this debate between the LOD & SSP4L and I'm upset with the way things have worked out the past two seasons. But one thing is certain, I will be right there Sat. for the the Blue & White game and I'll be there for the first home game of the season. Why? Because I love the Cats and that's my team!
The whole tone of the team is set by the head coach. There is no player on any college team that creates a greater impact on the success or failure of the team than the head coach. All the momentum gained from the Rich Brooks years is gone, so now we have to start the process again once we get a competent head coach. If we succeed it will be in spite of Mitch mistakes.
Literally nobody is doing that. Reflecting on the positives does not equal ignoring the negatives. This is the real problem in these discussions. Misrepresentations about the opposing beliefs. There is not one person who is keeping up with UK football that does not recognize that there are areas of weakness on this team.
This strawman argument, used to designate those who actually see some positives as "sunshine pumpers" is asinine. And no matter how many times someone points out flaws with the team, any opinions other than "teh JOKAR sux lol" get this strawman trotted out.
For JHB, DaCats, and Catmando, if you no longer support this program, why do you continue to post the same tired things over and over on messageboards? If you do support the program, why is your support limited to derisive message board comments and strawman arguments about the beliefs of other fans? If it's not limited to those things, what is your support level? Are you going to watch games and boo the team? Will you go and sit quietly? Email the administration? Attempt to be heard at a Board meeting?
I guess I only see you on the message boards complaining about Joker. Maybe that colors my view.
Randall Cobb disagrees. Tim Tebow disagrees, Peyton Manning disagrees and by golly I do to ;) One player can make a HUGE impact. A huge part of the college game is momentum and you can't tell me the players above couldn't effect momentum. Randall Cobb WILLED the Cats to be better. We have some young talent on this team that I'm willing to give a chance to show what they can do before I throw in the towel.
And please...stop with the Mitch stuff. It was Mitch that kept Brooks to get the momentum you are speaking of. Your very statement contradicts it self. What would help my blood pressure is fans that actually understood football.

Yeah its kind of sad that the players have to hear adults acting like little kids over a kid's game. Hopefully they can play inspired without the backing.
Great insight. You're a real asset.
I guess what I'm not seeing says it all. No one wants to talk about UK football right now. Serious low point for this program when the week before this game has the crickets chirping.
Good news is...No where to go but up! Too long til the real season starts.
Can't speak fo JHB or DACATs, but I've always and still do suupport this program. That doesn't mean I'm gonna lie to myself, and falsely pump it up though. If I owe someone $100,000, and make $50 bucks one night, I'm not gonna brag to my friends about making that 50 dollars, cause it's only a minor dent in solving my actual problems. Many on here though, would pump up our young potential, while downplaying something like losing a 4 star player. What is the purpose of talking excitedly about some positives, if they are not positive enough to offset the actual negatives of the program? I don't generally start off criticizing the program, but when I hear people irrationally pump it up, it makes me want to bring the conversation back to reality. It's like when people I know go to see a band that's "popular", and regardless of whether the show is good or not, talk about how fantastic the band was, simply because they believe that's what they are supposed to do. It's nothing more than groupthink.
