Will we beat Louisville this year? (many think not)
Considering the preseason rankings, I thought it might be interesting to see what people think... is this finally Pitino's year?
Personally, I think Cal continues his winning streak against Pitino and the Cards... but another interesting question is, what team ranks the highest come March? Who goes deeper in the NCAA tournament... who will be better in the end?
I just don't see U of L beating us every again under any situation.
Will we beat Louisville this year? YES
You know Floyd Street U, right?
We only have to beat 3 of their "starters" and 5 of their "reserves" cause Rick will have injured the rest of them in his brutal practices to the point they can't play. Just sayin...
Cal will sag off them and force them to shoot outside shots. Only thing I worry about is them beating us on the boards. If we hand with them on the board we win.
Winner. . .
In games that matter Pitino will only go 7-8 deep. Unfortunately I know quite a bit about the Cards living in Louisville. Pitino is depending on Henderson to be their two. We got that covered. PG, covered. Three, I'll take Poythress. 4 & 5 I'll take our 3 man rotation over Behannan and Dieng. Plus, we have the element of surprise just as we did when Jorts broke out.
I'm calling it now, we're a ten point winner. UL won't win the Big East and will be out by the Sweet 16.
I figured they would start Siva, Russ, Blackshear, Behannon, and Dieng.
And I think by Henderson you meant Hancock. I've been hearing on the radio that Hancock is gonna play the backup point. You can bet that Ware and Harrel will play. Harrel has been getting a lot of hype but I can't see him playing over Behannon or Dieng all that much to tell ya the truth. I guess backing up both he could get 20 mins a game.
I think this is the way the early part of the season will go: KY takes a couple of early hits then starts to learn the system and the defense will be ahead of schedule when we get to the UL game. UK will be down at the half by 6 points then comes out with both Noel and WCS in the lineup and we rebound every ball on the offensive and defensive boards and the 2 big guys will close the paint down by blocking so many shots they will start shooting wildly from the 3 pt line and hit only 10% from there. We get our transition game going and end up winning by 8. Poythress and Goodwin are the leading scorers both with 15+pts.
I could see that.
Yeah, oops. Saw Pitino said their team is dependent upon him. Not exactly endorsing his team if you ask me.
Pitino is full of crap. I guarantee he holds Harrel back this year. How many frosh have had excellent frosh years under him. Not very many is the answer and fans are hyping him big time.
Behannan had a nice freshman year last year. UL will have a nice team, UK will have to work hard to win in YUM center. Will be close game. UL returns essentially their entire starting 5. Go Cats.
Funny you brought this up because I said the same thing to a co-worker recently.
One more thing. Peyton Siva as Big East POY is Laughable. Siva literally does not one thing great. That conference much have literally zero star power this year. I realize he's a key player on the best team in the conference but what can he really hang his hat on. Can't shoot, not a great scorer, passer, ball handler. He's a good defender and he can get to the rack although he can't finish. Thats your POY. I noticed Jack Cooley on the 1st team also. HA HA.
Right. He's not even the best player on his team and it's not close.
UL is a very good team, Pitino is a great coach but in the end, our talent will win.
At this point, I have to see our guys play, and how they play, to get a feel for matchups. This is UL's best shot of beating us in a long time, but that doesn't mean they will. I would give it a 50/50 right now, but my opinion might change after I see 4 or 5 games.
How does UL score vs. UK? UK will be longer than last year at virtually every spot save MKG.
- Siva, Russ Smith, Blackshear, Behannon and Dieng...with a plethora of mediocre crap off the bench. They lost 2 best shooters and replace them with more athletic but again, bad shooters and not playmakers. Secondly, UL loves that 2/3 match up zone and that takes away from their strength which is a very athletic and physical team.
I think it is close game, but UK could very well have Harrow take the game over like Knight did 2 years ago and defensively just suffocate UL to death.
I know it's a scrimmage, but UL doesn't look all that impressive to me.
