He didn't camp at uk.
Listen this is just my opinion, I may be wrong, I hope i'm wrong. I knew the moment I saw Battle's name he wasn't ranked that high, that doesn't bother me if he has the skill set... There are a ton of much better SAM LB/Safety prospects out there. I also know you know what you're talking about, i'm not looking to bait or argue. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I think all of you guys are wrong for wanting battle, it just means I don't have faith in him. This kid is very long and tall, I love that but he does not look to have SEC athleticism or strength for SAM LB/SAF... You know that I have praised the staff for landing two O-lineman that didn't even start as JR's on the HS team... However both Boynton and Day have great measureables and are athletic for their position.
I'm just going to be honest (other than about 4 or 5 prospects) this class doesn't compare to the 11 or 12 when those had 8 or 9 commits... I've been on record praising kids that not many had faith in and I would love to praise Battle if he was a hard hitter, played strong at the POA and had good quickness but he doesn't. We aren't even certain if he's been a starter at any position, he may have never played safety, he could be a green horn in coverage... There are so many better prospects and honestly I don't like the idea of taking him and one or two of his teamates and missing out on Drennon since that would give us 2-3 De's/RLB's... We all know these kids look at the number of prospects at their position, it plays a huge role. I would rather have Drennon then Battle and all his teamates... Joker and Co have showed they can land some good prospects late in the game, I would rather hold off and see if some better prospects come open... It's to early to take a kid that IMO falls into the Reach category.
I also think Canady is a better SAM or SAF prospect at 6'1 210, 4.4 speed, 385 bench, 35 inch vertical, combine MVP, much more exp in the secondary and if you were to cut Canady open he would bleed blue. I hope i'm wrong about Battle because a person I trust just tx'd me, he is 99% sure Battle is now a cat...

Agreed. I know they can make mistakes, but I trust our coaches evaluations. I just can't see them making a big reach this early when scholly's are so limited. Especially a reach that is based soley on trying to get other kids commitments. If our staff gave him a commitable offer, they believe he can play at this level, and they are in a much better position to know than us.
Do not know why we are worried about DJ Woods. He is not the one committing. We are not taking DJ Woods over Timmons or Thomas. That is not an issue. I am talking about Battle.
You are 100% dead on but when you watch this kid on film do you really think he looks like a Miles Nash, Rayfield Dixon??? I do not. Dixon is much better. Nash is WAY better. I'm sorry but I don't see it. Dixon is quick, plays strong and has a great motor. Also a much better build... Man I do not see it, I wish I could... Go watch Rayfields video and compare it to this kid, it's not even close...
While it's possible any particular kid may have been evaluated and subsequently deemed a 2 star, it's far more likely it's just a default rating until evaluation due to the extremely high number of players involved and a conversely extremely low number of evaluators.
Dixon and Nash play different positions. Battle is projected to play safety. Both Nash and Dixon are projected to play OLB. This comparison doesn't work on any level.
Todd, at a certain point you have to accept that no-one values your talent evaluation abilities or predictions for positions above those of actual football coaches. Especially not when you start assigning positions to potential players who will clearly play different positions. I get that you like Bloomfield, Dawkins, and Canady as football players, but your assessment of their abilities is not as important to fans as that of coaches and the evaluation services.
Mike Cassity is recruiting Battle. Whether he has seen him in in camp (which Minter says is not the case), in person on a visit (which I believe happened), or on tape, Cassity is in a much better position to evaluate his talent level and projected position than you are.
^^^^^^THIS, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

It smells like microwaved homeless people in here.
I will trust Coach Cassity and Coach Minter on this one IMO they know what they need to make our D work the way they want it to. They had to have seen something they liked about him or no way would he have a committable offer. Surly

I've changed my mind on Woods after watching some highlights, though I don't think he's gonna be a receiver. He's got some wheels and looks like he could be a dangerous return man in college. I'd say CB is gonna be his position. The few clips he has it doesn't look like he shy's from contact and takes the ball carrier down pretty quick. Did I mention he's got some wheels? If UK is in the market for another CB, Woods would not be a bad pickup.
Guys, a 2 star/ borderline 3 star in Florida is still better than a 3 star in Kentucky. All day. I don't think those who have lived in Kentucky their entire lives realize just how different of a world it is down here. As a born and raised 26 year vet of the state having watched over a decade of high school football in numerous counties, I can tell you that the top 200 best players in florida are as good as the top 5 in Kentucky. The next 200 are as good as the next 25 best players in Kentucky. Fact of the matter is, Louisville has sent more players to the NFL because they recruited Florida harder than Kentucky. It was a mistake on our part that we never found the right recruiters for the area, and it is something that I have not understood for decades. That has been righted.
A note on Battle - he played backup quarterback for the majority of his football life, and just switched to defense in his junior year. He had never worked out in the weight room for defense, but is now. He's 6'3" and has a great athletic base. It's a projection, no doubt, but the coaching staff saw something. I'll trust that something.
Q&A coming up. I just spoke with Jalen. Really good kid to interview. Sounds like he's got a great head on his shoulders.

And that's the type of kid Joker likes. Good kid that can play some football.
This is sort of what I was talking about earlier in the thread. This kid is basically an unranked prospect at this point, as no-one has really seen him play his college position. There are what, 5-6 plays on the youtube video making the rounds?
6'3 180 with 4.6 speed sounds pretty good at the safety position, although he'll have to get considerably bigger and stronger if he is going to play the SS/LB hybrid position.
I'll put this kid in the same file as Boynton and Day for now. Kids I haven't seen enough of to form my own opinion about. How he plays his Senior season will tell the tale, as not only will the services have ranked him, but there will be tape and reports about his performance to evaluate.
For me, not a "splash" recruit, but a relatively unknown kid from FL who might get us a look from Internicola or Moore as a bonus.
Just saw on twitter that Internicola committed to Rutgers; but if he can get the others, that's still a good haul.
If Uk offered in hopes of getting one on his two good teammates, that plan won't apparently work on stud linebacker Skai Moore. He is saying tonight its gonna be Vandy, Miami (fl), or Rutgers. Too bad. This kid would be a great lb prospect.

Kentucky Football: If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.
Internicola committed to Rutgers today.
Did Internicola commit somewhere today?

that's what I was saying with my post earlier! Florida is a much different animal football wise
I was hoping this commit would land us his two fairly highly rated teammates Moore and Internicola. Now I'm not even sure why those two were mentioned coming to school with him since they both look to be committed or committing elsewhere the day after. I love this kids size for the safety position though. I hope he's sort of like Roark in that he loves contact. We might have seen with Roark a body type with a type of mentality that really fit what Minter wants in a safety. Neloms is kind of similar to that as well. I guess it remains to be seen if this kid has the mentality.
