Jon Hood has played behind some INCREDIBLE talent during his tenure. Would Kyle have seen nearly the same amount of PT at UK as he did at UL (rhetorical question folks)?? Hood's main problem has been his confidence more than anything else and when he's made it on the court, he's played EXTREMELY TIGHT! I've never had a problem with his athleticism and in fact, always thought he was a bit underrated in terms of athletic ability. Bottom line is Kuric has had more opportunity on the court than Hood so his numbers impact everybody's perception he's better than Hood. In all honesty, Kuric would probably be in the same position as Hood over the last couple of years had he played for UK. He's a man to man defensive liability and UL's zone allowed them to hide this deficiency.
same as mine, he will definitely contribute now that I know this!
And just to highlight about what I am talking about; not saying this defines and athlete but I mean come on you can't say that Hood has done this on the collegiate level (yet!) :
Louisvilles Peyton Siva finds Kyle Kuric who throws down the monster jam over Scott Martin of Notre Dame.
This is a silly argument. Who cares how athletic he is? If he's good enough, as a basketball player, he will play. If not he won't. Much of this will depend upon his defense, I assume, and I believe that he's been a bit of a liability when he's played in the past.
Was offered by Duke, Florida, UT. A lot of good teams wanted him. At one time he was the 18th ranked player in the class according to Rival. He's 6'6 at least and has nice length and leaping ability. I think he can definitely be a shot maker for us. I worry about him a little on D but thats okay when you've got the best shot blocker since Bill Russell erasing mistakes. I look forward to seeing how Cal can develop Hood.
Thanks Matt, but your post will probably get overlooked in all the commotion going on. lol
Fixed that for you.
Kuric was a nice player for UL but the truth is that he would not have gotten those minutes if UL hadn't suffered a ton of injuries. Jon is a much better prospect and athlete in my opinion. He has been looking at a lot of talent in front of him as a true freshman and sophomore. No player in America has been behind better talent. I think we need him now and he can fill the role that Miller did this year and Liggins the year before in helping steady a very young team and hopefully help our scoring from the perimeter. If I were him I would find two spots on the floor (corner and 45 degrees from the midline) and shoot 500 3 pointers from each every day.
