Who is UT's #1 choice? I would expect Strong to be Arky's #1 choice but he may or may not leave Da Ville. I think he will but he may not. Smart is the hottest coordinator in the game, he's a defensive guy, and he's a great recruiter. He makes sense for SEC programs. He's a young up and comer who's been tutored by the best football mind in the game today. If you don't think he'll be highly sought after then I don't know what to tell ya. I agree that he may not be #1 on the list for either but I doubt both get their #1 guys. We shall see I guess. I sure as hell hope we end up with him. I think its gonna be a tough sell though.
I dont see UT going a coordinator route this time. Id say theres a good chance Louisville makes a hard run at Taggart which hasnt really been talked about. Strong will leave. His dream is to be in the SEC. Smart going to Auburn would be very interesting but I doubt they will go the coordinator route also, atleast at the college level. These 2 programs (UT and Auburn) cant afford to grow with a coach they need immediate impact. Id say they will go after a successful head coach elsewhere or someone from the NFL. Just my opinion
We are actually more well suited for a 3-4 right now. We have virtually no true 4-3 defensive ends right now. Dupree and Forrest could play the olb spots in 3-4. Cobble at nt, rumrph and Coleman at de's in 3-4.
