Here we go...
**Said Louisville is 'in a nice mode right now about playing the way they have to play to win' ... said they are a much better team than when they met on Dec. 31. Very aggressive. Great defensively. Doing all the things they need to do to put themselves in position to win.
**Calipari said he hasn't seen Anthony Davis today but 'imagines he's fine' with knee injury scare
**Calipari said the stage-like floors at the Final Four changes things. Said last year he didn't realize that. Teams need to get in there and do as much shooting as possible. Joked they need to practice free throw shooting more. Said travel schedules will be the same.

**Calipari said UK 'wasn't at it's best' when it faced UConn in Final Four last year. Said it didn't play same way it had vs. Ohio St. and UNC. He wasn't sure why.
**On Louisville's defense: Their zone defense and adjustments they make, they are morphing into who they are playing. Said they'll still throw some pressure at people. Said that pressure rattled them late in first meeting. Said they weren't ready for it at that time of year. Said they're really good and terrific defensively.
**Said Doron Lamb has 'been fine' but he 'wants him to be special'. Said if consistently plays he's as good as any guard in the country. Said he's capable of that. Couldn't believe he missed free throws yesterday. Said it's all about motor with Doron.
**Calipari said Louisville will shoot the 3 and if they're making them it'll be a long night. Said very good at the pick-and-roll. Praising Dieng and Behanan in the post.
**Calipari said his team is so steady because they play hard but they don't get rattled. If a guy loses it a little they take him out, calm him down and put him back in. Said they understand being Kentucky everyone will give them their best shot. They've prepared that way.
**Calipari, on people saying UK is unbeatable: 'You can't keep it away from them. They hear everything. That's how it is nowadays. You just hope they're ready to play their best.'
**Calipari said rivalries don't matter right now. It's about winning basketball games. Doesn't matter if that opponent is "12 miles down the road or 1,000 miles away".
**Calipari on the teams in the Final Four: 'I would say it should be outstanding. You'll see a lot of ridiculous basketball."
**Calipari said when Kidd-Gilchrist comes at you he's "like a middle linebacker" ... but more importantly, 'he just plays and are unselfish. That's what makes him unique'
**Calipari said coaching is important, but 'at the end of the day players have to make plays' in the Final Four.
**Said UK has improved 'as you would expect' as year has gone on. Said they're 'lethal' on offense, but 'equally potent' on offense.
**Said Louisville's defense is totally geared toward who they play. Said it's not a 'steady diet' of anything game in and game out.
**Pitino said his team has been a very humble group. Said they know they have a job to do and have a lot of fun. Said he has learned you have to let players have fun with the Final Four.
**Said they played the 1st game vs. Kentucky with some bad luck because of Behanan's foul trouble. Said they'll look at that game plan and tweak as necessary for this matchup.
**Pitino was asked about the 1992 UK-Duke game. Said it wasn't a disappointment on the whole because of what that team and what it accomplished. Said, sure, you want to make the Final Four and win the game, but from the purity of a basketball game standpoint it was far from a disappointment.
**When asked about having won a title and his experience, and what common denominator is he said you have to be ready for the pressure of the game and can't start thinking about things and lose the ability to remember it's a team thing and not by yourself.
**Pitino also says you a huge factor is getting used to the dome environment, echoing Calipari's thoughts on that having been through it last year. Said it's all about depth perception. He said fortunately for them they've played at Syracuse. Said he didn't know about the raised floor at Final Four though.
**Pitino raving about Kidd-Gilchrist. Said he had not seen many high school players play every possession like he's down 10. Said he is one of his favorite players. Said it's an unbelievable quality.
So fascinating to hear Pitino say he has to "remember it's a team thing" and then to hear Calipari talk about it isn' about him but about the players. What polar opposites they are. Pitino's instinct is that "it's all about me" and Cal's is "it's all about them." Explains why Pitino is such a scumbag.
**Pitino said the best thing about the NCAA Tournament is that in the pros, the best teams win 90% of the time but in NCAA, a one shot deal, that's not always the case. Said talent isn't always the reason you win or lose.
**Pitino said Louisville's biggest problem this year was 'everything kept getting disrupted'. Said coaching the team was pure joy but the disruptions were a nightmare. Said they could never get organized.
**Pitino raving about Gorgui Dieng and how humble he is and how eager he is to learn.
Not all what he was saying. He was talking about players remembering they can't do it all by themselves in these type games. Wasn't referring to himself at all.
MKG needs to be careful driving the lane in this game. UL will use their depth to have guys constantly slide in and drive to draw charges. They'll flop plenty too. He's going to be too valuable defensively on Siva too. Teague should go right at Siva on offense because he makes dumb foul and dumb foul every game. Get him out and there is absolutely no way they can hang on the offensive end.
They can play the best defensive game ever seen and still won't be able to put up more points than the Cats
**Pitino said his pregame speech before Florida was 'I know you're going to win this game, but i want one favor in return, when you cut down the nets don't be satisfied with just being in Final Four.'
**Pitino said the Final Four is 'four programs that have tremendous interest in basketball'
**Pitino said Louisville will have to play 'the same type of game Villanova played against Georgetown. We can't make many mistakes.'
I don't see the Cards connecting on over 75% of their shots in the 2nd half. IIRC, Villanova shot something absolutely ridiculous in that game but I don't think that's what it will take to beat the Cats (Usual Pitino hyperbole). That Georgetown team was the defending NC and had a majority of the team back to include Patrick Ewing so this matchup is nowhere near the David and Goliath matchup that Georgetown and Nova was.
I think he's absolutely right about that. The areas in which I think are keys to victory (for either team)... will be in the margins of turnovers, rebounding, 3 pointers and free throws. Win all those margins and you win the game.. but assuming neither team will be so fortunate, whoever manages to win at least two of those margin battles, plays great defense and stays out of foul trouble, most likely, will march on. With that said, I think our talent level gives us the edge in all of those areas, so like Pitino said... the Cards would have to be like the Villanova team that upset Georgetown. I just don't see that happening.
I wonder if UL is missing class again this week and going straight to New Orleans?'
I love the comment about UL's experience in the dome w Syracuse. I guess UK having played the last 2 games in the Georgia Dome won't count.
