UK - 90
LU - 50
Making my first trip to Lexington in the Calipari Era for this game. Lipscomb is my Alma Mater. Still hoping this is the game the Cats show vast improvement in.
Cats - 94, Bisons - 53
Also a LU season ticket holder. Might come back later and give you a full rundown on the Bisons.
That would be great. I looked up their results for this season and the game by game stats before I made my prediction but any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Sleepy
Back to the top
A quick run down on the Bisons:
Very young and inexperienced basketball team. They lost a lot of talent to transfers and dismissals (Lipscomb has some pretty solid rules about code of conduct). Nevertheless, the Bisons are an athletic team and can score in a number of ways. They can hit the open three and love to run. Where they are challenged is in the paint Oscar Garcia and Stephen Hurt are adequate A-Sun big men, but will be challenged by the length (and dare I say) physicality of the UK players inside. Noel and WCS should have a field day working the paint. Lipscomb strength is at the 2 & 3 positions. They have a host of "tweeners" - guys that are between 6'4" and 6'7" that don't really operate as guards or forwards but can hit an open three and knock down a mid range jump shot. That group is led by Lipscomb's own set of twins Malcolm and Martin Smith.
Potential Starting Line-Up:
G - Deonte Alexander (Sr.) - LU's lone senior, great scorer and play maker.
G - Khion Sankey (Jr.) - Junior college transfer with great athleticism.
F - Martin Smith (So.) - Just behind his brother for leading scorer, can hit shots and make plays at the rim.
F - Talbot Denny (Fr.)/Malcolm Smith (So.) - I'm not sure why Talbot starts, but he does... Malcolm clearly the better player and the teams leading scorer.
C - Oscar Garcia (Jr.)/Stephen Hurt (Fr.) - Oscar is the more mobile/athletic player. Stephen at 6'10, 270 is more of a people mover.
A few other notes: Carter Sanderson is Coach Scott Sanderson's son and definitely plays that "Saul Smith" role in my mind. Lipscomb plays a lot of guys (substitutions are my biggest pet peeve with Sanderson) and can struggle at times in the half court set, again they really like to get up and down the floor.
Looking forward to Saturday. Hope I didn't bore you all.
Thanks for the info. This years team seems to have trouble in half court defense. It will be a good test for the Cats and if they have improved much in the week between games. Last years team would probably win by 60 or 70 with the kind of half court defense they could play, and no offense meant. This could be "weakness vs weakness" type of game although UK will win by plenty again no offense meant. Thanks again. Sleepy
The Cats are going to underestimate the talent of Martin/Malcolm Smith.
Good Ol' Mark Poops
which do you intend?
Is this a joke? Are you a UL troll with your handle?
sorry about that I want to make it the 88-56
no problem, and it has been changed.
Professor, would you change my prediction from: UK-89 lip-56 to UK---97 Lipscomb---62. Thanks Sleepy
We win big but I want to see improvement all around .... GO BIG BLUE !!!!
