I find it very hard to "root root root for the home team"..... But tonight I must. GO DIRTY BIRDS......Put the squeeze on the big orange....."till the juice runs down my leg."
Um no. Go Cuse.
It's the battle of the 2-3 zone. Accompanied by terrible offensive play.

I must admit that this is the most extensive time spent watching the Orange. I am not impressed. They are very long but can't shoot worth a damn and yet are not bashful of jacking up contested threes. If they are our biggest challenge accordinng to the pundits, I like our chances!
Like you this is the most I have seen of Syracuse.....not impressed. You hope they would want to run with us......
Neither of these teams could score with UK.
I never want to hear another word from UofL types over this great Big East conference. This is hideous and excruciatingly boring. Headed for a score in the 50s, which seems to be the case most nights.
< rooting for both teams AND the crowd to get the hot tamale sh
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Wow Siva was getting a little too friendly with Bohanan's butt.
Is Peyton Siva gay? Not that there is anything wrong with that...but....man..he sure was patting and putting his hand on Chane Behanan buttocks for a long time. Kind of made me uncomfortable....but he is a dirty bird.
I need some advice... Each time I mute the TV and spend more time reading the internet Louisville goes on a run. When I turn it up and pay attention Syracuse goes on a run. With 2 min's to go I can't decide what to do.
Should have kept it muted....... Hope someone got a screen-shot of Siva carrassing Behannan ass!
Turn the damn TV off.
Is everybody in agreement that the L1C4 is very lame.
Don't ever smell his finger.
So many people fall back on the Syracuse zone thing every time they're discussed. While they play it well, it's one of the most overblown things in college basketball. It's a zone... with long athletes. But people act like it's some novel concept that only the Orange use. Just silly.
This particular UK team is pretty well-equipped to handle the zone, IMO. They started off the year a little shaky, but have gradually learned how to be patient and find the gaps. And, as always, Lamb and Miller are big keys to busting it.

Jeff - I think it is interesting that not one college basketball analyst has discussed the Syracuse offense versus UK's defense when breaking down this potential match-up. All the talk is about whether we would be able to score against their zone. Syracuse's half-court offense is not particularly special although they are very good in the open court. Given their half-court troubles at times combined with our stingy half-court defense I don't know that we need to "solve" their zone to win. UofL didn't execute well against their zone and there they were with the ball down 1 with a chance to win.
If not for imploding with those 2 stupid turnovers UL would have won that game. UL should have won that game.
The reason why is that Cal's teams haven't seemed to do super agains the zone. I agree that they may have a tougher time scoring against us, however.
Yes. Absolutely stupid.
I always root against Louisville no matter what the case may be. Its worked for me most of my life because I haven't had to witness a Louisville National Championship which would probably be the worst day of my life.
These two teams barely made it in the 50's. A terrible game to watch.
Never understood that myself. It's a basic 2-3 zone that players have been practicing against their entire lives. It's not like John Chaney's matchup zone he used to run at Temple or I would even argue not as exotic as West Virginia's 1-3-1 even.
If the zone was so exclusive, the Orange would have done better than one Sweet 16 in the last 23 years.
I'm with you. Their defense looked good but Louisville is less than stellar in the halfcourt.
Also what about this stat: Cuse was 1 of 29 in shots outside the paint against Louisville tonight. Whoa.
Not sure they could score enough points to beat UK.

Syracuse shooters are streaky. I've seen Waiters, Joseph, Triche, Jardine and Southerland all have good and bad games from outside.
Against cincy they were cold almost the entire game and as a result cincy was able to hang around despite not scoring much themselves.
Waiters, Jardine and Triche all hit threes in the last 4 minutes though and they ended up pulling away.
Louisville lost this game more so than Syracuse winning it. Missed free throws and throwing the ball away.
If they had managed to do one or the other they probably win comfortably.
I like Dieng a lot but he made several awful decisions with the ball in the middle of the floor. And Louisville in general made bad decisions in the lane all night.
I've seen Syracuse 4 times and think they are a little overrated. I just don't think they've separated themselves from everyone else except UK like so many are saying. They just haven't played the teams that UNC, Kansas, Ohio State, Duke, Mizzou, Baylor and Michigan State have played.
I think most of the teams I listed could very well be undefeated against Syracuse schedule.
Its pretty sad to get beat on your home court when a team shoots 1 of 29 from outside the paint. Thats horrible to still lose in that situation especially at home.
That's really surprising. I think that Boeheim is good but probably gets more credit than he deserves because of his longevity. He does get points for the title with Carmelo, but at a program like Syracuse he should at least be in the title hunt once every few years.
