I t was reported today that the ACC voted and UL will be ths next among several new members in the ACC. This doesnt surprise me at all because some were saying why would the ACC admit a pedestrian school like UL. Well the answer to that is $$$$. This will be a cash cow for both the ACC and UL due to the TV contracts and other revenue streams. Some may be genuinely surprised at this move by the ACC but it will(besides the$$$) create very good and ongoing matchups between UL and Duke,UNC,NC St., and etc. Whether you love or hate UL this will definately make for some excellent games that I for 1 will enjoy watching. PS: Sorry this is somewhat of a repeat of another thread and I gladly refer you to noooooooooooo, which is the other thread already greatly responded to.

Hope UofL's luck with conferences has finally clicked. Wish them well except when they play us.
I disagree. Louisville brings a very small media market and limited reach outside their small area. There will be some competitive basketball games but that's not the tail that wags the dog.
Louisville is getting this invite because they can field teams in most sports and can generate the revenue to be solvent. There are fewer and fewer athletic departments you can say that about. The ACC is letting them in because they foresee a mass exodus of some of their marquee schools and are trying to maintain a critical mass in a desperate attempt to remain relevant.
I'm not saying this because I hate Louisville--I'd have to say the same thing if it were UK looking to jump. Football and TV markets rule these decisions, and neither school has that much to offer.
The point is the matchups that will created make for very good TV and that goes into the negotiations with the various TV networks and if you dont think that has anything to do with how much a conference ends up getting I dont know how to respond. The fact that Louisville is a small medis market isnt that much of a factor especially with the power conferences. Now adays it a nationwide market when it comes to certain sports and college b-ball and f-ball are 2 of those. Take uk for instance, Lexington is a very small TV market yet they are followed nationwide whether the people who watch them love or hate them the market is there.
Well said, dog. The problem comes when the "match ups" you tout are no longer there. UNC and NCState are both leaving for "greener" ($$$) pastures. It isn't b'ball that drives that, it is f'ball and ACC will NEVER, EVER be able to match dollars with SEC and Big10 football. Sorry... It just ain't happening. Plus VTech and UVA are leaving as well. Someone mentioned the Titanic earlier. Very good analogy. ACC will be nothing more than a glorified Big East with Dook in the middle when all is said and done!
Sorry about your luck...
Im not convinced that UNC will ever leave the ACC but a lot of rumors are around about that very thing. Your right the ACC will never be a major football league but the b-ball part will be very good even if UNC does in fact leave although again I dont believe they will. I think the Big East is done for and has become the dumping ground for teams that want to use the Big East name tho its been greatly diminished.
I could be wrong, and will admit it if I am. But, I have a close connection in Blacksburg who says the four (UNC,NCstate, VT, and UVA) are out the ACC door as soon as next week!!
Ha ha!! You are so wrong. Tell you what.. I will come here and publicly eat crow if this happens, and it won't.
Take it from someone who truly had a resouce close to the situation in the hiring of the nest HC here and it turned out to incorrect. Now Im not saying your info is wrong but just be aware that sources turn out to be wrong more times than they are right, believe me I know. So with that being said I wish you goodluck and keep posting whatever you see fit to.
Would you like mustard and ketchup with that?
