CBS is reporting that UK has interviewed FSU DC Mark Stoops for the HC spot:
That would be a good hire....
2. Defensive minded
3. Knows the SE
4. Strong name (Stoops Family)
5. Success with BCS schools
I can definitely get behind that hire

Would be a damn good hire. Number 1 defense in nation. Big "royalty" name in college football, experience in multiple programs.
That would be great. Never thought about someone leaving FSU for here
That would be a Stoopid hire.
JK... I'd support him.
Why are we interviewing people when BP was hired 2 weeks ago
Stoopid good! He certainly has the lineage and although not mentioned yet he, by all initial appearances, would check many of the blocks for a very solid hire. Bring in a 1st rate OC like his brother did at OU and I like the possibilities!!!!!
It's funny how everyone now jumps on the Stoops bandwagon.... but with that being said, I hopped on too
Been a Cat fan since August of '92
Still ironing out the details. They interviewed stoops a little while back. Plus, like Barnhart said, they want to be exhaustive, so they are going to finish their list, or were finishing their list.
I'm not on the Stoops bandwagon, I'm driving the damn thing!
Stoops would be a monster hire, in my opinion. Red hot DC, Florida recruiting ties, name recruits can identify, family and pedigree for connections in building a staff.
Heres a thought, maybe if Stoops gets hired, he could bring in Petrino as the OC!
For the record, I agree with all of the above regarding stoops.
or maube he could hire his brother Bob to be his HCIW.
this. if he is interested throw every penny at him and to his staff he chooses. then start pressing the bonding issue hardcore with detailed plans of what they want to do with the upgrades.
And if he fails?
I will keep repeating this over and over again: These issues are not about coach's. These issues are about talent, culture and competition. Until one of those three changes all UK FB is doing is spitting into the wind.
All that being said UK fans could do far worse than Stoops. UK needs some damn defensive coaching for a change instead of constant O guys with "systems".

that's why i like Stoops though. great defensive coach, has great bloodlines and connections. the names Stoops means something in coaching circles, and also the ties to recruiting in the south helps.
the second part of my post is exactly what you're talking about in culture changes. put money into the product to excite recruits and fans alike. with suites you make more money. with flashy upgrades and an active coaching staff, you can sell the program to players. we need a good defensive coaching staff first and foremost.
He is still going to have to bring in top talent from other states. This state (KY) has very talent each yr to build around. Now can he do it yes trippppple the recruiting budget is a start.
Give him what he needs money wise to bring in players.
Untill frankfort gives the ok for UK to spend 200mill+ on the stadium.
Also UK must give him atleast 5 yrs.
Guess UK will be doubling the ticket prices to pay for this.
I thought you said it was Petrino that was waiting for the Tenn game to be over so that he could be announced the new HC?
That idiot will not be at UK unless he pays to get in the gate!!!
I'm not neccessarily knocking a Stoops hire, but I'm not sure I buy into the lineage argument. Dooley has some lineage too!
Dooley had never been a coordinator and was a loser at la tech. Stoops has shown his defenses can improve and dominate. I'd say stoops pedigree and resume is far superior to Dooley's.
I like this guy a lot. His defense has been dominate this year.
That's exactly what I'm hearing, and based on what I've heard from a few important pieces of the puzzle, he is the next head coach. I honestly have not heard exactly when it would be finalized. I was just saying that bc they interviewed another candidate at some point does not have any effect on what I have heard.
