According to Maxwell Smith's twitter account the QB had a screw removed from his surgically repaired ankle.

Thanks, Matt. Good to hear. Just curious.....is there going to be a practice report today and tomorrow or have those all but gone by the wayside now that Joker is done, except for the Monday press conferences?
The staff was all in Atlanta yesterday and today so there wasn't anyone available to go to football. I'll be back out there tomorrow.
No problem. It was't a criticism at all, just a question given the current circumstances.
This usually is a really good sign. They only remove the screw if all healing is going well or it interferes with rehab. He could come back fairly quickly......UT is very possible.
I doubt he would be in football shape that soon. No reason to bring him back anyways. It would just keep him from getting a medical redshirt. We don't need anymore blunders like that.
I didn't think he qualified for a medical RS since he played in a few games this season. If he is qualified then go ahead and keep the RS. As far as football shape, a good Athletic Training staff has kept him in tip-top shape. There are a ton of things you do without the foot involved. Also, he likely was doing a TON already over the last month.......cutting, planting, jogging, running, etc. Sometimes they just leave the pin in the bone, but sometimes it irritates and they take it out....recovery time from surgery to remove the pin is about like getting your wisdom teeth pulled.....literally only a few days.
He is qualified for the medical RS. I think you can play in 30 percent of the games and still qualify as long as it is in the first half of the season. If that isn't it it is close. Max made the cutoff.

Well, great. That settles that then. At least he'll be good to go for Spring practice.
No worries man, I didn't think it was. Believe me, I tried to get it lined up to have someone there but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I hate not having someone there when I can't be there. Wish these things were real:
They are. Known as Air Boats
