Things changing. Stoops apparently is still in play and UK pushing for a quick resolution.
If hired it is most likely he will go after two guys to be his d coordinator. His brother Mike Stoops or long time coaching pal Jim Leavitt, current LB coach for the 49ners.
Throw in a solid O coordinator and I think you have one hell of a staff and foundation moving forward. Remember Leavitt built South Florida from the ground up, using Mark Stoops on his initial staff to get things built.
The states of Florida and Georgia will ultimatley determine the success or failure of UK football. Florida now being the key IMO. With that being the case, there are absolutely zero candidates that can deliver Florida like Stoops and his connections could. It would take Macintyre 5-7 years to develop the relationships in Florida that Stoops has TODAY. Makes too much sense, folks.

Rumors are that Stoops would bring the OC and ace recruiter from FSU. Supposedly Fisher broke his promise to the current OC to allow him to call plays and run the offense. This rubbed Stoops and the OC the wrong way.
Word is that both Stoops and Macintyre have an offer on the table. Stoops closer to coming to terms than Mac as of this morning. If neither accept, we're effed. UK needs a salesman to tie this up ASAP.
Dont forget Stoops coached at Miami in the early 2000's when the Canes were excellent. He has been recruiting Florida for years.
MB should bring Calipari in to close the deal with Stoops.
I would really like Stoops to come in and take over this program. He has great ties to the south with recruiting and coaches and think this would offset his lack of head coaching experience.
Come on MB make this happen and get this fiasco over with!
Beat me to it.
I would love this. He or Mac would be great. I just want this thing over with
I like these 1a 1b options.
C'mon, I hope stoops pulls the trigger furst just because I think he's already in on bigger recruits (ala Charlie Strong coming to UL) and could help get some looking this direction.
I will be happy with Mac as well, seems to be a solid coach.
I with truecat, ready for this to be over, don't know if my F5 button will last much longer.
I am with you however, I am favoring Stoops over Mac because of what you have just said. He is already in on some big recruits that he could possibly bring with him to UK.
So in this scenario, would it be a first come, first serve basis? What if the opposite happened and they both accepted? just curious...you would think Mitch would prefer one over the other (I'm leaning Stoops)...just not sure how offers translate in a coaching search like this
There is no way whatsoever there is any truth to this. They may be negotiating with each but there is no way they made two offers.

Clever stuff here.
Really like both of these guys. Either one I'm happy with, just ready to see a staff being built.
If it's the guy I'm hearing, that staff is being put together already. A new era should start very soon
