Just saw that. Wow, that's a tough deal. If he commits to UK the anti-Cal nuts will slober on themselves with the thoughts of what they can make up...
These questions are going to linger no matter where Shabazz lands.
Adresses and sheds some light into the adidas rumors and innuendo I was referring to in my Inklings a couple weeks ago ...
Its the A.M. edition of The Inklings.
Not from the NCAA, if he chose Duke he would be cleared within weeks and nobody would hear another peep about it.
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
I hate to say it, but if Bazz wants a shot at playing, he might not want to come to UK (See: Kanter, Enes for insane UK NCAA bias. See: Newton, Cam for comparison).
Welcome the new generation of domination.
This would be more like a Boatwright situation than it would be a Kanter type situation, correct??? Kanter took money from a Professional team, neither Boatwright nor Muhammad have done that???
This really doesn't seem like that big of a deal, imo. If they filed the paperwork with the NCAA stating that he was paying for the expenditures, then what's the big deal? Or maybe I'm completely missing the point.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Honestly, unless he'll be allowed to pay back the monies, I'm not sure I can see UK continuing to pursue Muhammad.
The guys that paid for the trips and support the AAU team with money are saying they did so because they have been long-time friends of the family, which would make everything perfectly legal with the NCAA.
The NCAA is saying hold on, we think they may have done it strictly because of his potential as a basketball player and in order to have some influence with Bazz either now or later on with agents or promotional aspects when he is a pro.
The NCAA needs to move quickly one way or the other on this (which they won't) otherwise I don't see how you could take the chance. . .
UK should probably go ahead and stop recruiting the kid. I agree that IF he signs with Duke or UNC this will all go away and you won't hear a peep from the NCAA. Their double standards are notorious and absolutely can not be denied nor ignored.
That will probably end our recruitng with Bazz. That is, unless the NCAA clears him to play...and then he elects to sign with Kentucky! Then we wind up either winning it al or going to the final four....
Then the NCAA would go back and say he was ineligible...strip UK of the title and/or final four and vacate the wins we would have gotten as well as smear Cal for good.
For some reason, this all sounds familiar. But my guess is that Kentucky won't risk that happening to them and he will wind up going to Duke, UNC, Kansas or worse...Louisville and he will be cleared for good.
I got ya. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
The good news is that this is coming out now instead of this summer.
Or 2 years from now. . . lol
I like that Thamel and the NCAA are looking into kids earlier. Dont need any headaches. everybody wanting a quick resolution to this should still be wary. the NCAA can still come back at the end of the year and say he is ineligible.
Wonder what Cal does knowing this
WE ARE UK
Yeah, also is it true that Thamel is poking around with Nerlens Noel?? Anyone know??
The money was for him to go to see dUKe and UNC. The financial guys were from North Carolina so it figures all will be fine in the NCAA's eyes if he picks either of those schools. Don't you just love the NCAA?
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
Cease and desist IMO. This is (was til Noel reclassified) the ONE guy I really really wanted outta the class but now I think we should cut our losses and move on.
I'm actually not nearly as anxious to land this kid as I was now that I truly believe MKG is going to return next season.
We don't need this headache. IMO, we should stop recruiting him.
Not necessarily. Cal has never shied away from a kid if he thought the kid was not responsible for the issue. If it's something that can be worked out where Shabazz or his family aren't at blame, I wouldn't expect him to back off.

Those rumors are floating around but I haven't heard anything substantial.
I do not understand this point of view. Kentucky is always going to have rumors and drama surrounding the program as long as Cal is coach. UK and Cal have their haters and they are a dedicated following and whether we recruit this kid or not they are going to be digging for dirt. Not only that but even if UK stopped recruiting Bazz the haters would still sling poo at us just because we were involved, so we might as well keep recruiting him.
i'd absolutely quit recruiting him. no more of these Knater or Rose or whatever risks
Thanks. . . . Any clue what they would be looking at, if true??? I know he's at a prep school and they travel all over the country, would it be how that gets paid for??
