10:20 a.m. from UK: Last night's X rays negative. Scheduled for MRI this morning. Further updates later.
Excellent xray news, keep fingers crossed concerning the MRI results. We are with you Nerlens.
Good news so far ... although X-Rays can't diagnose ligament injuries or tears. At least it sounds like there's no bone damage or bone fragments in the knee.
So far so good but you're right. Hoping for the best.
The way he twisted the knee (to the side and not a hyperextension) usually means a patela dislocation or patela tendion rupture. A sympton of the patella tendon rupter is major displacement of the patela. That would have showed up on the x-ray (patela displacement). So, I'm holding out that he just scared the heck out of himself and maybe tore some cartlidge.
Did anyone see the picture that was posted up.
It looked bad. I hope he is okay. I say we shut him down for the season and make sure it goes #1 in NBA draft.
I saw the picture on the Herald Leader. You can actually twist our knew like that when you stand up. It looks bad but where knee injuries usually happen it's when the knee hyper extends or when it's hit from the side and completly displaced. I'm not saying he didn't ravage the ligaments in his knee. But it's not as clear a situation as when somebody hyper-extends the knee.
No way you can do that to your knee when you are standing up from a chair, unless you are Gumby. Just looking at that picture, I'd predict MCL is 95% likely torn with likely ACL tear just from the sheering force. Glad to hear the X-rays were negative as I was worried about a Tib Plateau fracture. Terrible either way.
Thats a significant valgus loaded injury. I agree with you the MCL is most likely damaged. I am holding out hope that its isolated to that ligament but ACL/medial meniscus with that force concerns me.
If you put your knee in exactly the same position as Nerlen's knee, take a picture and put it on the internet I'll give you 50 bucks.
As a South Carolina fan I watched our star player (Lattimore) suffer a season ending knee injury. I had the same sick feeling in my stomach last night watching Noel's injury. I will be hoping for the best for him.
Gator fan here to wish Noel a speedy recovery. Peace.
Thanks for those sentiments-I believe all true fans put the interests of the young men (and women) who provide us with so many thrills and so much excitement first and foremost...regardless of the uniform...to us, it's a game...to them, their lives and livelihoods...
Thanks, Gator and Spur. Really appreciate the well wishes.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Yeah, my wife went to USC for undergrad. It was pretty heartbreaking to see Lattimore go down this year.
Just heard the confirmation on the torn ACL. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and represents your University well in his NBA future.
I believe the NCAA should provide some type of insurance to star athletes that have verified draft prospects.

Louisville alumnus and fan here. Just want to wish the best to Noel. Will be praying for a speedy recovery. He seems like a very classy, good kid. And he's a beast when he's healthy.
