Cool to have him back with the Cats, but I keep hearing a lot of talk about him moving to O-Line.
Based on this photo of a few Cats on spring break, I don't see that happening any time soon.

if he moves to OL the coaches are NUTS.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
I should say, if that's a recent photo. Noticed that they just posted it on Facebook.
Wo else is in that picture?
Good to see the guy's together. Seems to be a tight group.
Delic is working out with the DLine and coaches have no plans to move him.
I see DT and maybe Coleman but who are the two guys out front in that picture?
DT is in the pic, and so is Raymond Sanders, Ronnie Shields and Maxwell Smith. They were tagged and saw the pic on facebook. I'm friends with Nermin, we're tight
says the picture was taken and added an hour ago from Panama City Beach Jeff. So that's what I'm thinking
Cobble, Trevathan, Max Smith
Raymond Sanders, Delic, Ronnie Shields
That's weird, it seemed like he had a lot of upside as a d-lineman.
oh yeah, forgot Cobble. Don't know how :-/
like Jeff said earlier, it doesn't look from the picture that he will be moving to the Oline anytime soon if at all.
He is leaning away from the camera. I have no idea how big he is but this perspective makes it impossible to judge from this photo.
Isn't he eastern european descent??? Those guys just don't get fat...he'll never be big enough to play OLine.
I guess the bigger picture is we have what 4 OT on the entire roster right now? THat is absurdly silly. On par with where we were when Brooks took over from Morris.
- Trevino Woods (who just gets passed up every year)
- Eatmon (Is he a guard or a OT..did his feet leave once he gained weight)
- Mitchell (Again, he's moved to OG and OT...didn't look to great at OT)
I assume Toth for sure and probably Swindle/EJ JOnes go to OT from this current class.
But to be honest, this is pitiful roster management to be in this predicament to have only 4 kids able to play OT...and there are grave concerns in Eatmon can play OT. The only attrition we've had was Ullinski in the past few years, so this is all on coaching staffs letting this crap occur while we loaded up on safeties/TE in some of these classes.
I saw Delic at one of the baseball games with Max Smith. No way he is an OL. He looked 260ish maybe. Now some guys carry weight differently and he is pretty thick in lower body so he might be 270ish, but no bigger than that.
Great post, agree completely. The lack of recruiting tackles has been awful. One of the 2 starters the past 2 years was brought in here originally as a defensive end. Why we have failed so badly to identify guys who will have the necessary foot speed to block on the edge is beyond frustrating.
But then again it ain't like the recruiting on the entire O line for this program has been spectacular either, when was the last UK OL drafted by the NFL, 20 years ago?
was Garry Williams drafted or was he a free agent? Either way, he's been starting in the NFL. For the Panthers I believe. I know it's not much, but it's somebody
Williams was a UDFA in 2008. So while he wasn't drafted, we have a former OT starting in the NFL right now.
thought he might have been a late rounder, but yeah. Starting OT nonetheless. And from Louisville and Seneca HS no less....
I've said it before and I'll say it again, until we start recruiting draft-able O-linemen on a consistent basis UK will never make out of the SEC cellar. I can't think of anyone other than Warren Bryant and Dermonti that have been drafted since I started following UK football. Doesn't make any sense... Larry Warford better be in the gym right now.
Our offensive line hasn't performed as poorly as we're making out, until last year. Last year, three people in particular performed at a much lower level than anticipated.
In my opinion, Billy Joe never got his strength to the level it needed to be in order to be an effective RT for us. I don't think it was an athleticism issue, his footwork, hand placement, and knee bend looked fine, but he was consistently manhandled all season long. I don't know whether we can put that on the S&C staff or the player, but it looked like he lacked the strength to match up against DIV-I competition.
Chandler Burden could have been an effective LT for us, but his shoulder injury and lack of time at the position really hurt his chance to be effective. Another guy who had the athleticism, but wasn't technically sound, most likely due to playing DE his first two years in the program. Add a pre-season shoulder injury to the mix, and he didn't perform up to expectations.
Stuart Hines is a guy who I thought had a legitimate shot at playing in the league. He had the size, strength, and athleticism, but judging from the fact that he has now given up football altogether, I think his knee injury early in the season was probably worse than he or the staff let on. He was a warrior, though, and played significantly better towards the end of the season.
Overall, the three Seniors from the OL just didn't get it done last season. Darrian Miller and Zach West, if they remain healthy and progress in the S&C program, are two guys who I believe will lock down positions this spring. If we can identify a RT out of Mitchell, Woods, Davenport, or Eatmon, and have all 5 healthy through the spring and fall camp, I look for our OL to be much more effective early in the season against the OOC opponents than we saw last year.
Ideally you want NFL calibur kids, but it isn't always that easy...but I've been fine with solid kids that didn't pan out to NFL..Zipp Duncan, Stuart Hines, Justin Jeffries (even if he was good for an false start a game), Brad Durham was a fine OT with huge body. Even going back to Jason Rollins, Antonio Hall, Christian Johnson, etc...I'm fine with all those guys. Solid players for the most part. We've had some holes at times in past OL at UK, but this year we have 1 sure fire hole at RT, we hope Miller can hold down an LT spot in his 2nd year, OG looks iffy and none of this even addresses the utter disaster we'll face if injuries hit and we need to fill a spot for 2-3 games. This is going back to the crap when Aaron Miller, Gary Williams, etc...were all starting their first years on campus. There is no excuse for this crap at this point.
But BJ Murphy was always one of the weakest OT ever to play in games, Chandler Burden was mediocre at times, and whatever we'll put up at OT is most likely going to be a disaster. Why we are in this position is absurd....WTH have we been doing in the last 4 years of recruiting. Only Ullinski is an OT that we've lost unexpectedly. This is why it feels like UK coaching staff is 'amateur hour' in roster mgmt of OL, QB, etc..

Have to also remember that we lost 2 OL at the very end of recruiting season that would of really helped us ou. K Gates and Nick Martin.
