For preseason rankings! Kentucky the unanimous No. 1 for 2013-14 by a number of outlets:
A national champion was just crowned, but we're already looking ahead to 2013-14. Jason King has his very early Top 25 for next season.
USA TODAY Sports' college basketball staff previews what the top 25 will look like in 2013-14.
A team from the Bluegrass State will enter 2013-14 with a target on its back. Only it's not the one you think.
Top 10 conference breakdown: SEC 2, ACC 2, Pac-12 2, Big Ten 2, whatever the new Big East is called, two
Cal is very motivated but you have to believe after last night, he is even more motivated. As he said, he was humbled this year. Can see him not just wanting to win next year but wanting to beat teams into submission. Sounds like this group of guys will have that mentality. You are right....never too early.
It's very difficult to make any sort of assessment on a top 25 at this point as you just have no idea who is even going to be around. Surely Luke Hancock played himself into a lottery pick, right?
these lists are ridiculous at this point and i don't give a rip how great our recruiting class is going to be, if Michigan doesn't lose anybody to the draft (although i suspect Burke will go) they should be number 1 but having read the authors assumptions unranked makes sense.

In theory, Michigan could lose Burke, Robinson III and McGary to the draft. Maybe even Hardaway.
maybe its just me but i think that Hardaway shoots too much and Robinson3 not enough.
I hate that national outlets all race each other to post these 12 hours after the season ends. I get why, but I wish they could let the just completed season breathe a little bit first. Wait and see who officially declares, who signs where, who transfers, etc. but everything has become about number of clicks and not necessarily quality of content.

We were rammed third this year so take it for what it's worth. Should not bee any rankings for first month of season anyway.
Ranking can be thrown out the door. Cal will be motivated after a subpar year. He will have the single best collection of talent on one college basketball team in NCAA history. If a team stays within 20points of UK next year Cal should consider it a loss and treat the players accordingly. If Wiggins comes..we will have 9 potential NBA 1st rounders on our squad. All 9 will be NBA starters barring injury. WE will brutalize teams next year.
so what is your preseason top 5?
DO people not realize the talent gap?
smh, these aren't some scrubs we are recruiting. We are talking about multi high level people that could be NBA all-star. Not just NBA, but NBA all-star. That's the insanity of our recruiting class.
Yea I'm at the point where I want Wiggins but wouldn't mind him going elsewhere. If Wiggins goes elsewhere Alex and Mr. Young can pick up whatever scoring he would give us. I think Wiggins would be a bigger impact defensively at UK and thrive in the open court. Saying that I feel Alex and James could excel the same as Andrew.
Andrew Wiggins will be nightmare on defense.
I have hard time that either Young or Alex can compare to Wiggins' defensive potential.
We are going to see all sorts of idiots declaring for the draft this year because it is so weak. Cough, cough....Russ Smith.......cough, cough.
Hell, Dieng is probably gone and I bet Behannan declares as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see Spike Albrecht declare after that one good game, lol.
Not really stupid for Russ Smith to declare.
Let's be honest chances his stuck drops is about 100% next year. LOL.
Louisville fans finding out what it's like to lose their starting 5. Hey want to share something that a lady told me today at Shiners Hospital my daughter has 27 percent scoliosis and the lady said to us "Louisville finally done what UK did in 1951, they won their third championship". I thought that was so funny and just showed me no matter where you go there is probably a UK fan close by.
And the comment I made about not getting Wiggins I didn't mean Poythress or Young would be great defenders but they could probably score the same amount of points. Don't know if anybody could defend like Wiggins at the small forward position.
2 players I want to see bolt- Dieng and James McAdoo. Rumors floating last night that Dieng is now saying he's coming back for senior season. I hope not. If McAdoo bolts, UNC is simply a 3 guard team with zero post presence.
This year was an incredibly weak year as far as I'm concerned.
How are the top teams going to rebound? Bring in elite talent? Oh wait, seven of the top thirteen are headed to Kentucky.
Honestly, I see Ohio State as the biggest competition next season maybe Michigan depending on who comes back. Louisville would be next unless Dieng leaves.
I consider it stupid for someone to declare for the draft if they aren't at least partially guaranteed to be a first round pick. Smith could have picked up his degree at U of L, for free, made them a very good team and had another year to learn from Pitino. He's headed for the D league or Europe whenever he comes out.
One guy that I think actually has a shot to stick with a team (the right team) is Ryan Kelly. That guy is lights out for an almost 7 footer.
Florida will be good.
Yes, they will, but they continue to be one of the most inconsistent teams out there.
Also, they lose Erik Murphy, Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario.
I completely understand why people think Russ Smith leaving is stupid, but he will find a team and stick. If he can learn how to play PG under control he could be a very serviceable backup.
Please let Liggins know you think he is stupid.
Thanks (luckily for him, he is making living)
I can't stand when people say that.....no offense but I like rankings, even in the 1st month. No matter how ridiculous it was that we were number 3, they still give the best measure of how good teams are for the most part.
Florida will boil down to how well Kasey Hill plays. If he plays well they will be a very good team probably top 5.
