Let's not do that stuff IB4UK7... that's a little ridiculous, imo.
Set me up with the UK2K badge please.

Not nearly as ridiculous as some of the posts I have read on this board over the years! I was just trying tp add a little humor. I guess you thought otherwise. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers. GO CATS!!!!
When you see that a new post has been made and check it and it's
Sorry for the bad timing, Mike. Take advantage of our special offer that's pinned at the top.
Your team. All the time.
Comin at ya. GIve me a second.
However, I will give my opinion on the issue if you so desire to know it. I don't think there should be a minimun post requirement. I have paid my money for a long time, just like lots of others and was even a member prior to the switch. I am on this site at least once a day. I don't think I should be penalized for not posting. The main reason I don't post is because there always seems to be someone attacking the poster or the contents of the post. Not everyone will have the same opinion, or there would be no need for a message board, but just ridiculous attacks. I would think 247 sports would want lots of people wearing a badge for free advertising. Why was the majic number of posts chosen at 2,000? I guess I will just go back to lurking. Sorry if any others were offended with my attempt at humor. Please remove my name from consideration for a badge. Thank-you. GO CATS!!!!
I agree that if you are a paying member for x amount of time that you could be given a badge. I have no problem with that. Thanks for sticking around!
Kevin made it very clear in the original post that this was just the first badge we're rolling out and that others would be coming and we welcomed people's suggestions for ways to earn badges. It might have been more prudent to offer a suggestion for those who don't post as often to have some sort of badge honoring their loyalty to the site. That said, the whole point of a 'community' is to foster discussion, not simply lurking.
I can tell you one thing for certain, while I don't always agree with the way some people choose to express their opinions on this particular message board there is far less of the attacking and whatnot than there is on the site TCP was previously partnered with. That's one thing I have definitely been pleasantly surprised with since the move over.
We'll have other badges, and my guess is we'll have some "loyalty" type badges that will be more focused on time as opposed to posts. Started with the UK2K to encourage more discussion on the boards. We have a ton of members who just read and don't participate in the discussion. That's fine, but I think everyone would like more interaction/banter/discussion/comments on threads.
As Matt mentioned, we really try to crack down on personal attacks, name-calling, flames, etc. Think we've done a good job of that and a much better job than the other network where I used to be Managing Editor (rhymes with Divals).
"Why was the majic number of posts chosen at 2,000? "
Because when UK was the first basketball team to reach the 2000 win total, UK2K became something of a slogan. So, it was chosen as a badge. Since 2000 is a part of the badge, the post count of 2000 posts was chosen for this particular badge. The number was not arbitrary.
