Each and every fan is biased toward his/her own opinion.
But the fate of the Big12-2 and the ACC will be decided in the next expansion discussion. The $50mil buyout of the ACC and the GOR of the Big12 really is nothing more than lawyer speak.
It will scare some folks, but Maryland is in the red as a college and athletic program yet they still are making the jump. Why? Because they know it can never be collected and the whatever the settlement amount is, they will recoup it in a year or 2 of B1G money.
The same for any other school. The ACC can become the fourth mega-conference if it makes a move for WVU. Regardless of the argument, that would crush the perception of the Big12. Similarly, any conference can go after VT, FSU or Clemson and it will bring down the ACC. The Big12 is just as likely to go after Kansas as it is UV or UNC.
No conference is going to after any 2 of UNC, NC St, or Duke. It is a duplication of market share.
No one knows what is next to happen. I personally I do not see the reason for "hatting" a university. If Louisville gets left out, it truly hurts Kentucky (the state) because the funds that are shoveled to UK would have to be prioritized to U of L. And similarly if UK were unable to pay its bills.
A simple question: is your butt jealous of the amount crap coming from your mouth?
Why are you guys still trying to argue with us? Why do you even care what we think? You really are our little bro.
Been a Cat fan since August of '92
You realize Under Armor is paying the 50 million don't you?
In terms of Duke/NC State. It's not the same market. Duke is a a national following and a national viewing audience. NC State is the larges alumni base in NC...
What does "hatting" mean?
UL going to the ACC is a good thing for the ACC BOTH IN B-BALL and F-BALL. Both sports at UL now is prospering but for football they will have to prove they can maintain this resurgence before I will be convinced this is a long term advantage for the ACC. Now I know this wont be popular but as long as Pitino coaches the Cards they will be a top 20 team thus a boon to the ACC.
They won't be a "boon" for the acc. They'll be a nice addition. It's been damn near 30 years since UofL won a title. How many schools in the new acc have won title's since UofL did? Several. UofL is one in a crowd. They don't stand out in either sport.
UL would at best been 4-4 in either division of ACC this year.
Though I do think that they could have a good introductory season if Bridgewater is still there, TB is what makes Louisville hot right now.
Recruiting has fallen off since that class, just like UK it will always be hard to sustain success at for extended periods of time.
Recruiting has been excellent since TB's class. Will only sign 14 or so this year because of schollies. And you forget that most of the starters are freshmen and sophomores.

It's pretty funny how out of touch uofl fans are.
You haven't had a top 25 class since bridgewater.
Hatting is an inside joke for us Louisville board members.
Brandon Bender blew up one day because people were ragging on him and he asked folks to stop "hatting" on him.
You never know what the record would have been. Maybe 8-0 maybe 0-8. Until the game is played each team has a chance.
For me it is simply great, becaus eI am a basketball fan that hopes football does well.
The BIG EAST was the best and deepest basketball conference - with Syracuse, Pitt and Louisville as part of it. Going to the ACC makes that basketball conference unbelievably strong.
As one poster said - lots of teams have won since Louisville's last championship. That is a testament to the depth of the league. The challenge will be great.
I disagree with the statement that UL hasnt stoodout in either sport. They of course arent in UKs league but UL has had success in b-ball in particular and they will be an asset to the ACC in national exposure which will come in handy when TV contract negotiations come around and the rivalies when established will be a major "BOON" to the popularity of the conference as a whole. The f-ball program is also an immediate asset to the ACC and like I said before it remains to be seen if it remains as such in the long term. Remember UK had an 18 year drought between the 1978 and 1996 NCs and KYs nationwide appeal suffered some but not substantially. UL was in the final 4 last year and has been more than relevant before that recently. I really dont like to have to defend UL but I must in this case.
BIRDSEAT, I thought it was a mispell and thought the word was "hating" but I would like tosay this once and only once that I dont hate UL or Pitino although I dont follow UL I do pull for them to win as long as they arent playing UK. I do this not for ULs sake but for the state of KYs sake so I pull for all schools that are located in KY but UK has my heart and always has. Pitino really made me mad when he left UK for Boston but after the initial period of adjustment I was fine although I wished he had stayed. But as it turned out we got the best coach in the country in Cal. I know that a lot of UK fans dont agree with my not hating UL and Pitino and will of course say so.
Uofl and national exposure don't go together. Uofl hasn't and doesn't have star power and they have virtually no branding outside of pitino. Frankly pitino is an afterthought for the most part now unless he is in trouble.
Again, uofl is a nice addition. But make no mistake, Maryland for uofl is a net loss in terms of tv ratings. Maryland, as proven in Brooklyn, has a heck of a fanbase that far outnumbers Louisville's.
Again, uofl is a nice substitution for Maryland but i promise the acc would much rather not be in the position of having to dip into the pathetic big east to replace members.
This won't be the last time.
Birdseat, sorry but I do hatting ul, I have been on your board when you are hatting us too.
This is hilarious. They now have a division foe who makes a BCS bowl in a conference in which they played no a single ranked team. And that foe is usually a team that has a losing record except for when they get lucky and hire a decent coach. Not to mention that foe can't fill up a 50,000 seat stadium. But they are completely happy now. LOL.
