This is the last sentence in the "Open Letter" that Mitch Barnhart released regarding the firing of Joker Phillips and the coaching search that has begun. Please tell me what you think of this statement. Thanks
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart Nov.4th 2012
"Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC."~Mitch Barnhart 11/4/12
Either open mouth insert foot or open wallet dispense cash. One or the other.
My take on Mitch's last paragraph...
"The search for a new head coach will begin immediately and will be managed internally." (translation: It's all in my hands, bitches!).
"I understand the challenge and significance of finding a new leader for our football program." (I have a list of people who'll say "No" & some cheap MF that'll say "yes"!).
"It will be done with great concern for our student-athletes, students of the University of Kentucky, the Big Blue Nation and the citizens of the Commonwealth." (You have no say what so ever!). "Kentucky Football needs to be and will be a championship contender in the SEC." (UK FB needs to be as profitable as possible for my non-revenue sports to have championship facilities.)"
Jesus, Barnhart could go a long way in improving his handling of several issues and the administration as a whole needs to demonstrate a higher commitment to football spending, but the bullshit you just wrote looks like the ramblings of a loon.
Get a grip.

You better not read the rest of this guy's posts. Unless you want comic relief....
I think the first part of that sentence is the truth and the second part of the sentence is what he desires.
What remains to be seen is whether or not, collectively, the UK administration, boosters (to use the term loosely), and the legislature will make the financial commitment necessary to actually make progress towards the second half.
