Already love our chances with all these plus maybe we get Washington and Tandy back too. That would be a heck of a start to our 2013 class. I really want to get some of the Trinity kids but think Hatcher and Quick are LONG shots and Clark already picked up an offer from Michigan which will make it difficult as well.
Wish I still had the time to put into this. So glad Josh is around.
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." ~ Emerson
I made time. My time seems to running low lately though.
Speaking of time, you're not wasting any!
Kind of become tradition to roll this out on NSD.
Jacob Hyde looks to be the real deal. Would love to see him sign with us next year.
Obviously there will be attrition of a few players throughout the next year but what are areas of need for the '13 class?
Thanks, Josh!! Great rundown. Hope we can get a few of those to come to the Blue/White.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
The biggest need in EVERY class is DL, particularly DT. UK is getting better, but still needs to add dominant D-line players. It's what separates the truly elite programs from the mediocre ones. It would also be nice to see Joker land an elite, lockdown corner, or two, as well as two great WR that can stretch the field and make plays after the catch. But, in regard to corner and WR, UK has a lot of young talent in both groups. We may see this fall the team possesses corners that can stop SEC passing attacks and WR on the outside that can stretch defenses.
Early indications suggest that the 2013 class of in-state players will be exceptionally strong. Quick, Bivin, and Hatcher are national sorts of recruits, and it looks like Timmons and White may end up with many solid BCS sorts of offers.
To name a few of the needs that I think exist.

Will see at least 4 OL, I think we'll go after some bigger wr's with 4 of them graduating.
Worried that Bivins will be a Lamar Dawson type drawn out recruitment.
Thanks for the compilation.
I hope to see 4 OL and 4 DL every year.
3 LB, 2 RB, a TE, and a QB every year
4 DB, 3 WR, 2 ATH and a top notch player of any position.
Note: some wiggle room with TE, ATH, & WRs, also the 4 LB would include those who might be S/LB hybrids and DE/LB hybrids...
Although I am not exactly educated on this type of thing (see above, maybe it is nonsense past the first line regarding OL and DL...), I would like to see us not needing to load up to make up for big graduation holes. I would like to see roughly the same number of recruits for each position each year.

That effort gets a +1 vote!

To put the early offers into perspective. I counted about 54 offers already. We offered roughly 200 players last year.
By that math, we are roughly one quarter of the way there.
Just looking at the geography of the offers made, it appears that UK is focusing more on Florida and Ohio, which I think is a good thing. Does anyone have an idea of the total number UK will sign next year - will it be a total compliment of 25, or less?
So, from the roster on UKAthletics I find 19 juniors, who in theory would be the departing class making way for the 2013 recruiting class. Of these, some were not recruited scholarship players, but may now be on scholarship? Just trying to think of how much attrition must occur for us to get to the 25 mark. I don't believe Gabe Correll or Jacob Lewellen are on scholarship, could be wrong. Did Coshik go on scholarship? He certainly deserves one IMO, as well as Mikey Benton. If those two are indeed on scholarship, then that means 17 schollys coming available which means attrition of 8 more to reach 25. That seems high to me. As many always say, the numbers always work out. I'm just hoping for 25 rides to be able to capitalize on what we believe will be a banner recruiting year.
Morgan Newton Quarterback 6-4 235 JR-2L
Martavius Neloms Safety 6-1 186 JR-2L
La'Rod King Wide Receiver 6-4 194 JR-2L
E.J. Fields Wide Receiver 6-1 196 JR-1L
CoShik Williams Tailback 5-9 178 JR-2L
Aaron Boyd Wide Receiver 6-4 217 JR-1L
Mikie Benton Free Safety 5-11 204 JR-1L
Cartier Rice Cornerback 5-10 184 JR-2L
Ridge Wilson Linebacker 6-3 243 JR-2L
Larry Warford Offensive Guard 6-3 336 JR-2L
Matt Smith Center 6-4 303 JR-2L
Trevino Woods Offensive Tackle 6-5 281 JR-1L
Jacob Lewellen Defensive End 6-3 244 JR-SQ
Gabe Correll Tight End 6-5 250 JR-1L
Gene McCaskill Wide Receiver 6-0 206 JR-2L
Patrick Simmons Kicker 6-2 196 JR-SQ
Craig McIntosh Kicker 6-0 193 JR-2L
Taylor Wyndham Defensive End 6-4 246 JR-2L
Collins Ukwu Defensive End 6-5 258 JR-2L
At this time last year UK was nowhere near 25 rides for the 2012 class. But, as the old saying goes, the numbers always work out. This fall's SR class has 13 scholarship players:
Boyd, Fields, *King*, McCaskill, *Neloms*, *M. Newton*, Rice, Mt. Smith, Ukwu, *Warford*, *Wilson*, Woods, Wyndham
Walk-ons (7): Benton, Correll, Edwards, McIntosh, Williams
As was just mentioned, there would need to be a LOT of attrition for the 2013 signing class to get to 25. There are no candidates in the JR class jumping early to the NFL. Numbers are always something that I follow, and will continue to follow. You can not sign 25 kids every year. And, next February may be a time we do not see UK sign 25. As Joker mentioned in his presser yesterday, there will be 59 players on the roster this fall with three years or less in the program. There's a lot of potential and talent in that group. I hope we do not see much, if any, attrition in that group.

Alpha wasn't there some discussion of awarding Coshik and Benton scholarships?
Based on some Oh_Boyd tweets the last few days, he may not be on a scholarship for 2012...
I'm not sure how schollies for walk-ons work and if they count against the 85. Presently, not including Brian Adams, there are 85 players slated to be on schollie for the fall. That does not include any walk-ons. Certainly, any attrition that occurs between now and the fall, will allow walk-ons to be placed on schollie.
Not to be harsh, but Boyd has done nothing to deserve to be on scholarship.
Harmon and Delic are both likely to get scholarships once spots open up so our #s are even tighter than what they seem at this point for the '13 class.
And Dakotah Tyler.
I'm counting 91 possible scholarship guys (factoring in the signees) on Matt's roster update. Something has to give with at least six.
Hard to believe they wouldn't have CoShik and Mikie B on scholly after the contributions they've made, but something has to give.
