I think we get timmons, quick because he always mentioned uk in his top 5 but joker dident really recruit him and now we have elite recruiters with us, alexander twins, hytchye, Brisly Estime, eff Badget , Donald Rocker, joe Jones, Austin Douglas.
That is completely silly to say Joker didn't recruit James Quick.
I think he's saying Timmons will comitt quickly, because Joker didn't recruit him hard enough.
I think he did try to get the kid the prob was the kid did not want to come to play for him.
Who would with every tom dick and harry calling for his head. On here and every place else in KY.
No kid wants to take that chance would you. NO
On a difffernt note, if you look at that list, there's only one O-linemen w/ a confirmed comitt. Makes me think they will be replacing Summers, and possibly recruiting a different style of linemen to fit th esystem.
I hope Stoops opts to keep Ramsey Myers and Deangelo Yancey, at least.. I think those 2 have alot of potential to help us out.. We need LBs in the worst of ways,so, a Skai Moore would be a great start and offer immediate help. Even though I think we have alot of depth in the secondary, we don't have anyone the caliber of the Alexander twins, so, they would definately be an upgrade, along with a healthy Faulkner and Caffey.. DE is another big need position.. Not sure if Langston Newton and Alvonte Bell will be ready to contribute much this early in their careers, so, a good JUCO or 2 there would be big for depth purposes.. Even if we move Dupree down there, that makes us even thinner at LB, so, adding 2 LBs and 2 DEs are top priority in my opinion.. The more I look at Reece Phillips, the more I like him.. He's much in the mold of a Smith and Towles in the way he plays and although I don't think he'll ever be a starter, he can definately be a high grade backup and in the SEC, you need that.. I really look for Whitlow to move to safety this year..
I meant to say that he did not recruit him thaaat hard. but he try to.
i meant JAMES QUICK
I disagree with those who think Whitlow should be moved to Safety. You can line him up all over the place on offense. Just to valuable. We don't know what kind of chops the kid has to hit people. We don't even know whether he would move to the defensive side of the ball. He's a pretty good QB and could still play QB at a smaller level. He could start at Western for instance for sure. We saw him as a true frosh. I doubt he accepts a move to the defensive side of the ball but might accept a move as a slash player we've seen that be successful with other guys in the past. He's a powerful runner and will only get better as he gets stronger.
As a testimony to the past staff's roster management we now have 3 QB's in the same class after a few years of trying to play the game with one viable QB in the entire program. I don't think Whitlow is going to accept a position change. The guy can play QB. I think you will see one or two of the 3 QB's transfer after spring ball. They are all very good prospects and we won't hang on to them all.
We'd have 2 sophs had we not found whitlow late in the recruiting process. In a normal year we end up redshirting Towles... These things happen. I don't think you can control injuries.
You don't want a player if you don't think he will ever start. The new coaching staff will find a good QB to redshirt that wants to run the "air raid" system. USF's QB just decommitted so he could be a possible replacement for Phillips.
Id love to get Quick..but I think hes either UofL or OSU bound. We get Timmons..and his speed. Jeff Badet looks like a speedy playmaker. Brisly Estime reminds me of Bob Sanders..the Indy Colts saftey..smallish..but fast, athletic and plays a lot tougher than his size.
We need LB's and DE's..
I just think its nice to have solid athletes wanting to hear from UK. Kids know Stoops name..and its already paying off. Brisly Estime and Jeff Badet may not be 5 star kids..but they are speedy, talented athletes that are a step up for UK. The 4 and 5 star kids will not immeadiately jump on Uk..we may land a couple this year..but 3 or 4 4 star kids are a vast improvement on the usual 1 or no 4 star recruit.
Stoops household name is already paying dividends in the recruiting game..Ryan Timmons eager to come on board..with the right OC, Fla athletes that FSU evaluated but didnt have schollys for wanting to come aboard..Eliot in Fla at Immoakalee's game..scouting the Alexander twins, Senat, and Tumba Johnson.
Stoops and staff WILL bring in much better talent than we are used to seeing come to Lexington. 2014 should be a great class..with a bumper crop of in-state talent...especially on the defensive side of the ball. Once the whole staff is in place..things will go a lot smoother on all fronts, imo.
It's an exciting time for UK football isn't it? Can't remember this much attention focused on our pigskin program this late in the year..ever. It's up to us fans to fill Commonwealth next year..support our coach and team.
Did I miss something? Is there any information that Timmons has said anything like that? Just asking...
I dont believe I would have signed when Curci came calling if this stuff with Joker had been going on no matter how much Iwanted to come to UK or how much I loved the program. I think that the coach needs to be on firm ground before you can get a lot of kids to commit to play for a school and thats what Stoops provides now, stability at the HC position. Just look at all the activity that is going on now concerning recruiting and look at the new attitude of the fans and especially the attitude of the fans on this site, its like night and day from before the hiring of Stoops. GO CATS
He expressed that he wanted stoops to get in touch with him and his high school coach mentioned that he was excited to hear from the new coaches.
He is jumping to a conclusion, but not one completely without merit.
1. Timmons' coach was giddy talking about Brown and how they ran the same offense as TT.
2. I believe he also said that discussions involving school choice with Timmons had been partly dependent upon how he would fit into the system at a school.
3. Timmons has stated interest in Stoops but qualified that with waiting to see who the OC turns out to be.
If we get Brown...
1. Coach will (probably) be in our corner.
2. Will meet a key criteria looked for in a choice by Timmons.
3. He has already expressed moderate interest with growth in interest being contingent upon the OC hired and Brown fits that criteria.
Exaggerated? Yes. But, still a solid foundation.
