I'm glad you agree with my description of Petrino, and FWIW, I have yet to find anyone who directly refutes it. They usually just respond with a question that doesn't pertain to Petrino. I will say this. Unlike many of the rubes across the various UK boards who seem to be "Petrino or slit their wrists"....I will support him if he is hired just like I will anyone else. My opinion of him won't change. He will still be a stupid, ethically challenged, pathologically lying SOB....but he will be OUR stupid, ethically challenged, pathologically lying SOB, and he will have my support. BTW, to ansewr your question, I would describe our football program as down. It's usually what folks in my neck of the woods say when their favorite sports team is struggling.
You realize that footballcat65 (here) and steakcat (CI) are the same poster, right? The only "confirmation" outside of a single poster has been the unbelievable tale that someone talked with "Bob" Petrino on the phone during Thanksgiving dinner with his family.
If Petrino is announced as coach tomorrow, I will patronize footballcat65's business, whatever it may be.
This isn't coming from those guys. wildcatharry and another one are posting info. I didn't know anything about footballcat65 or steakcat so I really didn't think much about it until a couple of other posters have chimed in.
I agree also and you will know how much if you have read my thread on him. I dont put things the way you do but the sentment that I have is the same as yours. He is ethically challenged and will do the same to UK as he has done to the other people that have employed him. An interesting stat that I saw recently is that BPs SEC record is 17-15, if thats true then thats hardly a ringing endorsement of his coaching ability.
17-15 would be a God send to UK
Some guy using Londoncats is saying its all but a done deal.If thats true what about the guy that said his sources told him it was a done deal 2 weeks ago? I wish this whole thing was over with. If my source is wrong then it will be the first time since my buddies and I played ball together at UK almost 40 years ago that they have been wrong and told me something that didnt turn out to be correct. I will post an apology on this site if BP is hired. I got the info about Londoncats on the Rivals site.

wildcatharry on rivals is saying he believes a coach is hired. That guy has been on the boards for a long time and isn't a $h!t stirrer.
This whole thing about BP has been a battle of the sources. Whose source really knows and who is just talking rubbish. I think this will be over by the 1st of the week but that just my opinion not from "my sources". They do say it will be over soon and it cant come quick enough for me.
A coach, or BP? Thats a huge difference?
He said Petrino. Man idk what to believe and frankly I don't want to get my hopes up just to be let down. So frustrating.
Been a Cat fan since August of '92
So you dont think having a clause that prohibits Petrino from hiring administrative staffers like the position at Arky, would take care of it? I do.
Give him ability to hire his staff (obviously) but not the admin stuff.
Maybe if you pretend that sexual harassment claims can only come from hiring practices. Unfortunately, that is not true.
Take a look at each year at Arky - in 2008 his team struggled and he lost a lot of SEC games that year. We even beat them that year.
He took over a program that was not in good shape after Houston Nutt got fired.
Finally, overall records count, but Im more interested in how a coach was doing at a program before he left (whatever the reason) - in Petrinos case he was winning more SEC games than he was losing and Arky would have likely been in the thick of the SEC West race this year had he been there. They were preseason #8 and have obviously underperformed due to coaching.....
C'mon, sleepy. You and your boys need to start texting or emailing. Much faster.
Did BP also side-step state hiring requirements? Which could also lead to legal action against the university (Arky).
Im also not following you - are you saying BP has sexually harassed other employees at Arky? If so, what is the evidence?
I understand the risk with his mistress whom he hired.....but I just dont understand what you mean with your comments.
So what are you saying you'll be one of the lawyers he hires? Joking guys don't take me seriously.
Man, I've done a much longer post on this in the past. Hiring him will hamper, if not completely eliminate, an affirmative defense for the University. This affirmative defense would generally make the University immune in a sexual harassment suit as well as eliminate the vicarious liability of the University.
So: The risk is someone accuses him of sexual harassment at UK and UK is inextricably involved in the lawsuit, rather than being able to remove itself quickly and fire Petrino immediately without having further problem, much like Arkansas did.
All of that is probably true, I know you know a lot more about legal matters than I do. However, I think back to hiring Gillispie. He was a lawsuit of enormous proportions waiting to happen. Any university takes a chance on any employee they hire. I do know that a university the size and power of UK would be covered by multiple insurance policies and also UK being a public institution would be less of risk than a private school.
THIS^^^^^^!!! Man i want to win so bad, & sure BP is not the only coach in the world that can win, but I truly hope we get BP, UK gets alot of press & Buzz (some good, some bad) but he has won everywhere hes been.
I for 1 hope this is true, I had my hopes up, then had worked pass the disappointment of us not getting him, now this. I hope we get him but i want this over soon, my emotions cant take much more.
But you see, the issue with your factual scenario is that there is no allegations or pending lawsuit against BP that puts UK on "notice".
I would imagine that if no lawsuit against BP is filed (what's Arky's statute of limitations for this?) than its really a non-issue.
That said - you still didnt answer my question about having evidence that BP is known to engage in "sexual harassment" (legal definition of that) in the office place (outside of the issues with his mistress) - which you indiectly implied in your original response to me.
Finally, do you think the guy will do it again? Or are you saying that anyone ever accused or is under suspicion of sexual harassment, that they will never find employment again?
Here's my take on the situation and why we're seeing all these crazy rumors. In my honest opinion, I think Mitch wants to hire Butch Jones (or some other coach) but the boosters are trying to make one last valiant stand for Petrino. I think Mitch and the boosters are in a face off right now, and the boosters are telling everyone we're gonna win the battle this time around, that's why we're seeing all these rumors flare up. However, I bet Mitch will win out. Just my hunch.
It does not require a lawsuit to put an employer on notice. The lawsuit (or lack of lawsuit) has no bearing on potential employers because it doesn't require a lawsuit to be on notice.
What evidence are you talking about? Hiring his mistress? Is there some factual dispute as to whether or not that happened? Sexual harassment is not a simple proposition, as there are several things that can be made the basis of a sexual harassment claim. The fact that acts happened that can be (or could have been) the basis of a sexual harassment claim serves as notice.
It doesn't matter if I think he'll do it again. It matters if the person doing the hiring thinks he will do it again, or if allegations that he did it again are worth the risk given his coaching ability. I've never said he was unhireable. I've said that administrators of institutions funded by tax dollars are going to be cautious about hiring him. It is not just trusting him not to do it again, it is the conscious decision to hire him despite his prior problems that can also be the basis of liability or the loss of an affirmative defense.
Again: He isn't untouchable. But there are serious issues that may prevent his hiring anywhere.
