What happens now? Does he retire? Nah... no way.
What team(s) will come calling? Where would you like to see him go? Being a Browns fan, sure I would like to see him in Cleveland., but I doubt that happens. I'm thinking the Chiefs maybe could be one possibility.... what do you think about that BG?
Another thing... did he get screwed in Indy? How fair was his treatment.... better or worse than what happened to Favre in Green Bay?
I really think he has a few great years left in him.... and some lucky team is about to improve, the second he signs the dotted line.
Dolphins, Chiefs, or Redskins I'm thinking.
I don't think he got screwed but it took some big balls for Irsay to come to this decision. When you think about it, it kinda worked out perfectly for the Colts. Manning gets hurt and the team has a terrible record enough to get them the first pick in a year when the QB is probably the best QB coming out since Manning. Most teams go through year after year without a franchise QB but the Colts are moving into a new era with another great QB right off the bat. Ask Dolphin fans pretty lucky if you ask me.
Manning probably has a few good year left. I don't see a superbowl in his future though. I wish the best for him. I've always respected the guy, his father and his brother.
Crazy to think you won't be seeing Peyton Manning in a Colts #18 jersey. They were talking Texans potentially on ESPN this AM.
The Texans will have a tough decision to make. I honestly think Payton would rather to there than anywhere because they have a great D and running game. He would no doubt have a chance at a Superbowl in year one there. But Matt Shaub is gonna be a really solid QB for a long time. If they would have had him in the playoffs they might be in the superbowl. So what do you do in that situation. Basically screw Shaub over for Manning who you might only get 2 years out of or even worse no years if he injured early or go with Shaub who looks to have a number of years left and seems to get better every year. I don't know, just saying its a tough decision.
I see Miami or Arizona, he wants warm weather or a dome.
I don't always post but when I do, I try to make things interesting
1. The Redskins have a history of spending tons for players, but will Shanny want Peyton there calling the shots? Miami is a potential candidate....good defense, offense just needs a QB to throw to Marshall. I think Peyton would salivate thinking about Marshall. Peyton has had great WR's, but not athletically gifted WR's like Marshall. I think Peyton will be looking for a team that is decent that he can make some runs with. The Texans and Dolphins are interesting options.
2. Did Indy screw him? - I think Indy became a victim of stupidity and inflated costs of players. They had to keep giving bigger contracts to key players across the team. Then capping it off with a huge contract to Peyton. I think they are forced to either dump Peyton and keep some other players.....or keep some key players and dump Peyton. Honestly if you have to clean house and you are sitting on a prospect like Andrew Luck it makes good business sense to completely clean house and start over. Though they could've done it in a more honorable way. I think they kept Peyton in the dark instead of involving him in the process......we're talking about a Colt legend now that may come back there to coach or something.....you don't risk burning bridges like this.
3. As a medical professional I am worried about his injury. He could have nerve damage that won't come back. That could affect his arm strength, feeling, accuracy, etc. He will lose neck range of motion without a doubt. And if he gets hit he could risk paralysis or death. He may not be 100% as some reports claim.
4. Finally. I hope Peyton makes the right decision. I loved Favre the player, though I did lose some respect for his actions off the field. Watching him keep coming back and playing poorly was just disheartening. A player has to be realistic about when they don't have it anymore. I just hope Peyton doesn't go off to a horrible team and just plays poorly until he finally retires out of frustration.
I predict in the end it will be Arizona. They have some nice weapons, play in a weak division, play in a dome. Won't have to compete with New England/Baltimore/Pittsburg to get to the Super Bowl.
Very good points... ^^^ALL^^^
Please let him go to Arizona. I'm not a Zona fan, but I'm tired of drafting Fitz in fantasy only to have him screwed by QB play. He'd be a beast with Manning tossing it (or, even MORE beastly).
Welcome the new generation of domination.
Exactly. I shutter to think what Peyton could do throwing to a crazy WR like Fitz. Peyton has had some great, even HOF, WR's.....but Harrison and Kelley are not the physical freaks like Brandon Marsh or Larry Fitz.
I agree with you completely. You made some great points above, too. +1 Either Marshall or Fitz would be super-studs with Peyton in uniform. It'd probably fix their running game woes too just for the threat of the deep ball. Look what even a guy like Kurt Warner did in the desert.
I think his best bets are either Zona or Miami. Those are great situations for him. He'd basically do to Arizona's division what he did with Indy in theirs: dominate. But like someone else said, at least there he wouldn't worry much about Brady, Steelers, etc.
I think Peyton is smart enough not to go to Arizona, he would get beat to death. LT Levi Brown will be cut & not brought back which is probably good considering he allowed 11.5 sacks last year plus RT Brandon Keith is an UFA & he allowed 7 sacks in only 13 starts last year. There aren't any good healthy free agent OTs available & the Cards don't have a second round pick. Honestly I don't think Kolb is really that bad, he just got hammered back there.
Arizona has too much invested in Kolb. I want to see him go to Washington for selfish reasons and those revolve around one less possibility inhibiting my Browns' chances of trading to the #2 pick. Plus, Dan Snyder has no problem throwing his money around.
I agree that he may not go to Arizona. I was just saying that getting to throw to Fitz is a tempting proposition. Though Peyton has never truly had a great line at Indy. He's used to it. I'd say that the Card line is comparable to whatever he's had in the past. Sure he's rarely sacked, but that hasn't been the result of his line......more of Peyton's ability to avoid putting himself in compromising positions.
Probably the best lines that Peyton played behind were the yrs when Edge James was racking up yds.....even then they probably wouldn't be thought of as dominant. (except Saturday)
I'm already over it, honestly. Miami would be the smart decision, imo.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
Miami is set up to have a real nice season if Manning is on board (and healthy). Really good skill guys and a solid defense in place to be an AFC contender with a real QB.

There was a pic going around shortly after Manning's press conference that showed him getting off a plane apparently in Miami. . .
San Fran would be a monster...
Irony - Harbaugh (former Colt) has Luck in Stanford, then gets Manning from Colts because Luck goes to Colts...
Plus, Alex Smith still sucks.
Arizona for me, but they will need to know by Mar 17th when they have to decide whether or not to pay Kolb a 7 million bonus, I can't see him going to the Redskins, they have ZERO weapons, I think Manning will be looking for someplace he can get a ring, Larry Fitz helps enormously with that, look what Warner did with the Cards a few seasons ago!
My mom would have a stroke if that happened.. a stroke of ecstasy lol. She loves the '9ers.
Dallas. Dallas. Dallas!
"Apparently the University of Kentucky basketball dynasty is to continue forever." - Philadelphia Inquirer, December 23 1954.
I said Denver half jokingly. Apparently Denver has reached out to his agent. That would be perfect.
Miami will find a way to miss on him. That or if they sign him he fails the physical...
He already has a condo in Miami. And I know what you are thinking. There are rumors that typically fly around, "Coach Cal has already purchased a house in Lexington....he's gonna be our coach." Those rumors fly around a lot. No, but Peyton has had a condo there for yrs as a vacation home. He could simply be going there for that reason. Then again I imagine that he'll be visiting a lot of teams here shortly for football purposes.
