This isn't bashing Sulaimon thread,
He is excellent freshmen. One of the best.
Actually this is exactly the point, i wanted to make. He is obviously WELL coached. He has excellent surrounding cast. But his first road game against NC state (true this is much better competition, but even then)
his stat line was
0-10, 0 reb, 0 asist, 0 Stl, 0 Blk, 1 PF, 0 TO in 27 minutes.
Imagine if our players did this. Even Poythress who got attacked had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 blk in 23 minutes. Far better numbers.
Haha wasn't sure where this thread was going but wow.
Great point wildmoon. +1
Sulaimon doesn't quite have Poythress' potential. Really not even close. And Poy's been just as ineffective at home at times. I get your point but Poy needs the heat. He needs to wake up.
They all need to wake up.
yeah, you are right, they all do need to wake up.
I think Coach Cal could of used Shabazz Muhammad.
Funny you say that. I was thinking the same thing about 30 minutes ago before I read this.
Not true. Ryan Harrow and Noel are both playing as hard as they can. They are getting no help. Archie is playing hard he's just playing stupid. Willie is constantly out of position. Kyle just doesn't have it athletically. Poy has absolutely zero excuse. He's got the IQ, but can't fight around a pick, can't rebound, the emotion he shows looks forced. He's the one that really needs to wake up. He looked a little better today but can't stop a nose bleed still on D.
I always thought he was the missing piece. Hustling 3, that is capable of defending 2-4.
Poythress i think is more of a 4 than a 3...and i think that's one of the reason why he struggles. He doesn't have ball handling, and speed to guard guards.

WCS is also playing hard.
But he is the rawest of them all. This team can still explode...but it's almost getting too late.
Noel's FT looked GREAT, btw...
+1 for your excellent point.
I'll say this about Kyle too, for a guy that doesn't have it athletically he certainly doesn't try to make up for it with any extra grit and toughness. Basketball isn't about just chucking 3's or having finesse post moves. You gotta have some toughness about you.
You are right!
I actually think, basketball is mostly about toughness and grit. (see Gilchrist)
The other things are secondary, and will come along as long as you have toughness and grit.
If I could give you +5 I would. Kyle has been most disappointing player for me this year. Can't wait for Harrison twins to get here and add some fire to team. Those kids HATE to lose. We need more players like that now

One of the best comments that I heard about the twins from their coach is that "they have the WILL to WIN." That kind of describes the boys that we had last year so these two will define the team next year.
