Rod Strickland has found himself in trouble again, this time being arrested Thursday morning near the Joe Craft Center for a serious of traffic violations. The most serious offense is driving on a DUI suspended license, which was suspended after a DUI arrest in April 2010. He was also booked at Lexington jail for having no registration plates and failure to signal on a turn.
***UPDATE: UK just released a statement_
"Rod Strickland was pulled over this morning in Lexington on a routine traffic stop on the way to the office. According to police reports, he was pulled over for failure to signal and for driving with a suspended license. According to Strickland, his vehicle was properly registered and he produced his driver's license at the scene. We are currently gathering information on whether his license was suspended due to a clerical error which led to his arrest."

This guy needs a personal driver
That may spell the end for Rod Strickland at Kentucky.
Keepin in fresh since 1986.
It'll be interesting to see what Cal and Mitch do? Rod defintley needs help.
I think it's important to note he wasn't arrested for driving under the influence, but no reason he shouldn't have a driver.
Can you imagine he and Eddie Sutton on the same staff?? Haaaa Now that would've been entertaining.
Thanks for the clarification Matt.
The evidence isn't here to say he has an alcohol problem, but he is exhibiting some judgement issues.
I've been the taxi cab before for DUI-busted buddies. It's just something people have to do when they find themselves in that position.
I don't know, but I would imagine Rod ought to not be hurting for money. It shouldn't be that big a deal for him to call on one of Lexington's three or four commercial taxis. Or he could come on here and ask and probably one of us would come get him for free.
Isn't driving on a license suspended for DUI considered a different (and more serious) offense than a regular driving on a suspended or expired license charge?
Maybe he could hire Gillispie's old driver? Too soon?
Slap on the wrist stuff. Nothing to get too excited over.
H-L tweets out he was arrested for DUI. Ouch.
Well durn. That's not good. Probably the last straw. I hate that.

If this turns out to be a clerical error some clerk will have to move out of state!

Oh man. What the hell was he thinking?

Sounds like it's in dispute whether his DL is suspended or not.....is Rod Stickland gonna have to smack a clerk?
This cop needs to exercise better judgement...you can't go arresting people associated with UK basketball. Someone have the Lexington PD call Knoxville and let them know we need better training on how to handle our state university's athletic department.
Just read that right after my prior post...pulled over for failure to use a turn signal? How many times a day does that happen across the United States? How many times a day does that happen if we just limit the count to law enforcement personnel?
Reminds me of a few days before Christmas 2010....I was pulled over by 2 FL State Troopers for failure to have my seat belt fastened. I wear it 95% of the time, but this was one of those 5% times when I was traveling all of 2 miles from my office to Staples in a 35 mile zone and I chose not to fasten it. $100 fine right before Christmas, plus my insurance goes up even though I've never had an accident, nor ever filed a claim in my 35 years of operating a motor vehicle.
Or the time I was pulled over after midnight for allegedly crossing the center line (never happened...was a made-up reason to do a DUI check). I had not been drinking, passed the field sobriety test, but still ended-up with a traffic citation for failure to maintain lane (bogus).
Wasn't thinking at all apparently.
License was suspended 12 months in Sept. 2010 from the April 2010 DUI, his second in three years (had one in 2007) and fourth overall (1997, 2001 also. One in 1999 was dropped). Very possible/likely Strickland either didn't apply for license reinstatement or it got lost in paperwork netherworld somewhere.
I'd be perfectly willing to accept a job as his personal chauffer if UK wants to hire me! I need a better job anyway. Just give me a good wage and free tickets to games and I'm there!
Appears as though the Fayette District Court never updated Strickland's status as having his license reinstated, which caused an procedural arrest that was in error.
This is why it is necessary to get all the facts on anyone before you pass judgement. Glad to see everything is in order. Now let's get back to our regularly scheduled forum!
