It's like "Blood in the Water" now no matter what anyone says about Joker's status. Every school recruiting against UK will basically say, Joker is gone true or false.
Agree or disagree?
The meanest dog in Taiwan.
I thought one of our problems were that we do not get great recruits so why would that hurt?
Easy fix, win some games. A good start would be to looked prepared, improved, and look somewhat competitive tomorrow.
Televised blow outs are not good for recruiting either.
UK has to win 2 in a row to salvage Joker, his staff, and(or) any of the current recruits that happen to be SEC worthy.
We don't get great recruits but you need bodies and since UK never looks at any Kentucky kids to fill spots, the grim reaper is swinging his sickle.
Unfortunately, performance on the field this year is enough to have recruits second-guessing. The only way to salvage anything may be to get the right guy in place as close to the end of the UT game as possible.
Playing like dogrcrap and losing to Western and Ville may open eyes of potential recruits.
Actually had a recruit ask me about Joker's status today.
That, or maybe, many recruits already don't want to play for Joker, but may consider the new coach. It's pretty much (not guaranteed) a foregone conclusion that Joker is gone. The quicker we move on, the better for recruiting IMO.
How bout winning some damn football games?
This is exactly why he should have fired at the end of last season.
Hot Dice we don't agree very often but we do on this. These kind of rumors kill any kind of recruiting. Very hard to overcome.
Just curious Josh, what do you tell a recruit in that situation?
Been a Cat fan since August of '92
Recruiting is dead any way you cut it. Outside of a winning streak nothing is going to fix recruiting. Everyone expects this staff to be replaced and even if UK were to give them another year it won't change things much.
You're a writer not a fan, just had to say nothing is official. Rumors are rumors. There has been no indication that a change is imminent.
If UK had won yesterday, that would help recruiting. No one will remember the half time score, only the fact UK lost by 21 points and the rumor is Joker's gone.
One of the major reasons Joker was hired was recruiting so if that disappears what is the point. You can't learn on the job in the SEC how to be a head coach. No I'm wrong, you can if you coaching at UK.
Think UK basketball would have ever hired a basketball coach with "no" Head coaching experience?
No because they have the tradition and resources to attract a big time coach.
Joker isn't at UK because we didn't want to spend big money. He's at UK because he was recommended from a coach that made us a respectable team.
Josh, I refuse to put the blame on Brooks for hiring Joker. He may have recomended him but it was never his decision. Someone foolish made that call and he is still working.
Call it what you want but the Coach in Waiting might be a good idea in the MAC but not in the SEC. UK is already behind the 8-Ball no matter who coaches and that is why I have always felt that besides Joker not being ready to be a HC, the powers that be should have known that.
IMHO, Joker was the easy call, cheap call, false hope call. Now you see what happens when you have the blind leading the blind. Less than 50,000 in CWS in the SEC opener.
The money lost should be getting someone fired. And would in the real world. Home games UK is losing 2-3 million per game. That is what hiring Joker without any kind of real search gets you.
