I mentioned in another thread how I want to see Schlarman's work on the field. Here is a link of some footage against Mississippi State this past season (listen closely to the announcers praise for Schlarman) and here also is a number of quotes from a Troy football forum which I don't think I am allowed to link...
Testament to John Schlarman
I have said for years he is the best on our staff. Great guy too.
I wish more coaches on our staff were as good at what they do as Coach Schlarman.
John Schlarman is an excellant offensive line coach and has been from the day he arrived. It's a testament that not only are the first team players ready to play, but when a first teamer gets injured and the second team replacement comes in, that O-line continues to hum like a well oiled machine. Sure, there may be a few hiccups, but overall, he has that line performing each and every year.
Troy is very fortunate to have this guy. I hope we continue to keep him for a long time.
I thought the O line did a great job last night, no sacks, generally Corey had plenty of time, blew some big holes for Southward against a big SEC defensive front. I noticed that MSU ran a lot of situational plays, subbing on 3rd and short, third and long, and no matter what they threw at us the O line to continued to handle their roles welll.
Now, are you guys wanting to see his work on the field as much as I am?
ESPN Video: Shawn Southward rush up the middle for 3 yards for a TOUCHDOWN.
I think Troy was primarily air raid variant but look at te rushing against MSU...
223 yards on 40 carries for an average of 5.6 ypc with 3 TDs and a long of 31.
We will run the ball this year. :D

Did you see the yardage they gained against Tenn? Wow
Admittedly the UT defense was very porous last year, but what Troy did in Neyland was pretty unreal. They set records for yards, plays, and points for a UT opponent (I'm pretty sure those were the categories). The Troy line dominated UTs line like no one else all year, including SEC schools.
I've had the pleasure of seeing John Schlarman present his coaching clinic several times at the Tony Franklin System Seminar and he is very impressive. The pass protection and run game schemes are actually pretty simple so it allows for lots of practice reps and allows the offense to play fast during games. The running game really only has four plays, stretch, zone, power and draw. Despite that Troy put up some consistently impressive rushing seasons (except for 2011) during Schlarman's time at Troy. I think y'all will be very impressed with O-line play this season. The stats Schlarman's o-line helped produce at Troy are pretty impressive:
2012 - 2007 rushing yards
2011 - 1064
2010 - 2036
2009 - 1939
2008 - 2179
2007 - 2191
2012 - 15 in 509 attempts
2011 - 20 in 531
2010 - 24 in 528
2009 - 24 in 529
2008 - 13 in 524
2007 - 18 in 517
I've heard nothing but good things about JS and expect his OL to be a well oiled machine despite losing our best OL from last year.
Not to mention that UK now has a state of the art training and nutriotion program in place. We could see a huge turnaround this season. Can't wait to see Coach JS's troops in action.
