If Notre Dame wins the NC this year the paths taken by both Anthony Davis and Manti T'eo will be strangely similar if indeed he wins the Heisman. Both are great defensive players and both would be voted the best player in their respective sports. If ND wins the title both will be national champions and with Davis being selected #1 and I cant imagine T'eo not being taken at the top positin or near it. Both teams they played on finished the season #1 and althogh ND finished undefeated Davis and the Cats came awefully close to that mark. So no matter how you feel about ND and/or T'eo you have to admit its a strangley similar path they both have taken on their journey to being the best player in the the country.

Except AD was an 18 year old kid.
I'm struggling to see how the two situation are similar. First of all T'eo is not gonna win the Heisman. He's not gonna be drafted #1 and he's not gonna win a gold medal in the Olympics. And he still has to win a National Championship and be voted MVP. So basically he hasn't done anything that he would need to do in order to make the two situations similar. And like Nate said he's a Senior and AD was a Frosh. LOL. Keep reaching!
All of the things you said are true and my comment indicated that a couple of things would have to fall into place for this comparison to be valid. You dont know he wont win the Heisman anymore than I know he will. You also dont know that ND wont win the NC like I dont know they will. Their ages have nothing to do with their paths being similar. They just happen to be at different ages when those paths might just align. And finally you dont know if T'eo will or wont win the MVP of the championship game. Oh I agree there are a lot of variables that may make this thread not materialize but there is a chance that this thread will be right on target no matter what the odds.
He hasn't done one thing yet that he would need to do. It would be different if he would have done one or two things. He literally hasn't done one thing yet nor is he really on pace like AD was to do one of those things. AD at this point was a lock for player of the year. He was a lock for the #1 pick in the draft. T'eo isn't a lock or even the favorite to do either. Johnny Football is the favorite to win the Heisman and I'm sure in the end some QB will be the #1 pick in the draft. So right there those two things aren't gonna happen.
I see where you're coming from sleepy, but like others reiterated, Davis was an 18 year old freshman, Te'o is a senior. Yes, he could win the heisman, and yes he has the chance to be the #1 pick, but because of his position, I'd say it's unlikely he is. The heisman though, let's be honest, it should be Manziel, he's earned it more. Funny thing about Manziel if he wins though, is the fact he's going against seniors for it, as he's a freshman, and he did it in the brutal SEC.
Its gonna be a sham if anybody but Manziel wins the Heisman. Seriously it will be only because the kids a freshman and that will be a shame.
Anthony Davis is from Chicago, Manti Te'o is from Hawaii. Check
Anthony Davis was a Freshman, Manti Te'o is a Senior. Check
Anthony Davis is an African American, Manti Te'o is Samoan. Check
Anthony Davis won the POY. Manti Te'o will not. Check
Anthony Davis was the #1 pick in the draft. Manti Te'o will not be the #1 pick in the draft. Check
I don't see a *single* similarity between the two other than they might both take home a national title trophy. And I think it's highly debatable whether or not Te'o is the best player in the country. I'd put him several spots down, behind at least Manziel and a few others.

Anthony Davis has a Unibrow and Manti Te'o has a doublebrow. I mean come one that right there is enough to end this conversation. The two are nothing alike. lol.
I don't completely agree with sleepy, but to say there are multiple players better than Te'o is laughable. Manziel and Klein sure, and possibly Barner, but aside from that I mean come on. I hated Dickie V going crazy over Te'o too, but it's definitely 1. Manziel 2. Te'o 3. Klein 4. Barner
And act classy, you know what he meant, the whole defensive thing aspect, he wasn't comparing ethnicity. Besides, if Te'o is a heisman finalist, it's not set in stone yet whether he'll win or be the #1 pick. You and I both know there's a lot to the draft. Being the combine, and other off-season drills.. Te'o being #4 on the big board on ESPN right now definitely gives him a chance. You may not like the guy, but at least use common sense.
Where they are from is irrelevant:check, The fact that you think others are more deserving of the Heisman is irrelevant, the fact that the game hasnt been played yet and you dont know who will win:check and finally it makes no difference what ethnicity they are:check. The comparison I made was based on a couple of things that would have to fall into place for this thread to be accurate. If it doesnt turn out to be on target so be it. I was just amazed how both young men are great people and their paths to the top of the hill have a chance to be similar. The fact you brought in factors such as: ethnicity or where they are from or their ages really is irrelevant and why would it matter when comparing the 2. It was just a fun thing I thought of and wanted to share and agree or disagree thats what sites like these are here for. So Im encouraging you and others to disagree or if there is anyone that agrees to please do so.
AD was also picked as once in a generation type. They compared him to Bill Russell....Are you telling me Manti Te'o is being compared to one of all time greats of NFL?
Media argued that only players you could trade Davis's pick was for Lebron James and Kevin Durant. Are you telling me that Manti Te'o is such a pick that only couple players can be traded for him? (He won't even be #1 pick...)
He wasn't just the best player past year...he was completely in different level. Davis wasn't just defensive player, he became a major offensive threat as well. Did you really watch last year?
You just made like 10000 if condition.
James young is following similar path as A.Davis. If he grows another 5 inches and gets longer arms. If he wins a lot of games at UK. If he becomes POTY. If he became #1 draft pick. If Olympics decided to have Olympics in 2014 instead of 2016.
...if if if if if if if...
Just because you are indiana fan doesn't mean anything from indiana will be similar to what davis did. SMH
Believe me Im all for Manziel winning the Heisman. I think he deserves it no matter what year he is in. T'eo would however be the 1st defensive player in how many years to win the Heisman? That shouldnt be factored in but it will be in the back of some of the voters mind. Notre Dame is the "darling" of the national media this year and that could factor in also. I want a SEC player to win it and I think Manziel has earned it but that may not win it for him.
Accusing me of being an Indiana fan is really funny. I guess I wasted my time playing football for UK for 4 years and 2 of those years were 2 of the most successful years in UK football history. If we hadnt been on probation in "77" we would have won the SEC outright and we did finish #6 that year and #18 the previous year and won our bowl game to boot. Yeah, Im an IU fan posing as a KY fan. Funny you tend to say the same thing about other posters that you have contempt for. In fact Ive seen you do just that before. Its a handy thing to say when nothing else you can think of makes sense. Please block me from appearing on your screen if you feel that way about a thread I put out to have fun with. And oh yeah, at this time last year none of what you said was true. Only later was what you said bcame true. But I forgot Im a IU fan and not suppose to know things like that.
I tried, I really did, but I don't see it at all.
For the 1st time since Ive been on this site I became angry with another poster. I was battered bigtime during the Harrison twins saga, but never became angry in the least. I dont take things to heart and life is too short, take it from me I know. But when people attack what I say I have taken it instride until I was accused of being an IU fan which that person has used on other occasions on other posters. I take my love for UK seriously and with my time being short I just lost it when I have given a lot to the university both as a student and a player and a fan. I post because I think of things that interest me and I know full well other posters wont agree with me and thats fine, no problem at all.
Please quote me on where i said other posters were IU fan.
I will give you till all next year and year after.
"only later was what you said became true." ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO
Matt, thats fine and I can see why you dont see it. You responded in a way that no one could have a problem with least wise me. No worries mate.
I dont have the time or interest in going around with you about this or litterally not the time. So lets agree to disagree and call it a day.
Hey Sleepy, the fact that you played for UK means a lot to me. I disagree with you post because of AD being considered as a very special superstar that comes along every now and then, but I respect your opinion.
Now thats a post that disagrees with me that I respect and thankyou for responding the way you did. I really mean that and have no problem with people that disagree with my opinions.
Manti T'eo has been named the Walter Camp POY winner tonight. 1 down and 3 awards to go, Heisman, NC, and MVP of NC game. Are you guys getting a litle nervous yet? Oh I forgot, he has won the Lombardi Award also.
I would be my life savings on it not happening. Plus he'd have to go #1 in the draft.
Oh I know its a long, long shot just having a bit of fun, but if he is named the Heisman winner Sat. night then I may be in failrly good shape to be right, although I really think Manziel will win it, he is a heck of a QB no matter what year he is in school. I also found a 4 leaf clover this morning, now thats got to be a sign, right.
I guess brother. Since you played for the Cats I'd be just find with you being right if it made your day.
You do realize
1. he still has to go 1st in draft...
2. he still has to become freshmen again
3. he still has to win gold medal in olympics.......(and...he can't)
4. he still has to win NT
5. he still has to grow 8 inches in high school as a junior. (go from nobody to one of greatest potential player) (went from basically unranked to top ranked HS player)
6. he still has to have a "nice" unibrow
7. he still has to become MVP on a championship team
8. he still has to win the most important Heisman...
Of course, he doesn't have to hit all of them. However, he still has a LONG way to go. Just winning POTY would be fraction of the story line to match davis's crazy story line.
and since all the HS craziness never happened for Manti, it's already a moot point.
