You missing something would be an understatement. You claim you dont want a pissing match but yet take yet another chance to attack me a negative or having an agenda against the program which isn't true. Yes there are a number of people reporting on and off the net about Max needing to mature off the field. You see that as an attack versus taking it as face value either respectfully responding or moving on. I much preferred when you ignored me but instead you can't help yourself. You simply can not have any type of discussion that is not overly positive about UK. But not every coach or player is without issues that need and should be discussed. Your opinion of over the line is simply not in line with everyone else so any discussion with you is pointless.
No, I'm not off base on this at all. Go back and read bigcat65's original post in this thread that people started blasting. He purports to be passing along his knowledge of this situation and Joker supposedly having some issues with Smith needing to mature a bit more. A lot of people immediately started blasting bigcat's post as one of negativity, objective opinion (looked to me like he was passing along what he has supposedly heard, but maybe I'm wrong), and lacking details (again, people insisting that you share all details and sources or else it will be condemned as false and stirring the pot).
I agree with you 100% that bigcat65's posts crossed the line with everything turning into a blast of the program over the last few months, but when someone pases along info like "this is not the first time Player X has done _______" or "the staff has had issues with Player X doing _______", I am not going to automatically assume its opinion and start blasting them for sharing. Again, time will tell if the shared info was true or if it was made up...again, just assuming we ever truly know what happened.
In short, I'm just calling for everyone on both sides of the Sunshine Pumpers vs. LOD "war" to give it a rest. Its getting VERY old for everyone else.
There is a difference between posting a rumor that has specific ramifications for the team and drawing conclusions without substantiation.
rumor: heard that Smith injured
The above gives a heads up from a reporter that something (may have) happened. It is NOT an opinion, substantiated or otherwise. It is news.
re: Smith made a bad decision
The above is opinion. It is passing judgment of failure to do the right thing, without substantiation in this case. That is an attack.
However, if you are only willing to have discussions incidents that are reported then don't comment on a thread clearly stated as rumor started by someone most of us respect as a reporter. To that point I add my opinion on the "rumor". I will base my opinion on those I know and know more then you seem willing to even comprehend.
There is no discussion. There is a repetition of a statement that Smith did wrong with no substantiation. There is nothing to be discussed. There has been no substantiation for the claim being made. There is no means to weigh the statement and thus there is no discussion to be made about it.
Either way I'm not going to be drawn into an argument with someone who simply wants to make an issue out of me saying our starting QB needs to make better decisions off the field.
Except that is not merely what is happening. There have been no indications that bad decisions have been made. Coupling that with the above makes no sense. It points out there is no discussion to be had...When the point is made that there is no substantiation to support the claims made, the responses give no substantiation. There is thus, nothing to discuss. Only agreement or disagreement.
But either way I'm certain you will find a way to make it into good news which is your MO.
The point has been repeatedly repeated (redundant statement there...) that judgments should not be made without supporting evidence. Refraining from judgment based upon no available evidence to make a judgment is not spinning something in a positive light. The above is a further attempt to direct attention to a persons motivations rather than addressing the situation being discussed. Stating that evidence has not been presented that Smith made a bad decision is addressing the issue being discussed. Stating that drawing conclusions without evidence is not proper (explicitly referred to by myself as "pathetic") is an evaluation of the discussion techniques used with supporting evidence of that evaluation: there is no indications of their occurrence. Basic logic functions needed in order to actually discuss topics are not present. Asserting that one is trying to make something into good news (without substantiation) when one repeatedly states that more information is needed to pass judgment is not addressing the points being made and is attempting to address a poster's motivations instead.
I'm not going to do this right now. I didn't attack you. I was explaining why I had issues with what you were posting at the time. It wasn't what you were saying necessarily but in the disrespectful manner in which you were spewing it, all over the place, even in threads that had nothing to do with the content you were posting. That is the very essence of spreading an agenda whether you want to agree with it or not.
Another thing regarding this particular incident. I don't see what you said as an attack (especially compared to things you were saying before). I never said it was. I think you may have jumped the gun a little with your comment, but I don't see it as an attack. All I said was that it seems (key word being seems) like you are doing some odd, out of place lobbying for Towels to start at the same time as making (IMO) an unsubstantiated comment. That's all.
As far as me not being able to have a discussion that isn't overly positive about UK, that is complete and utter BS. Again, I have my doubts (some in line with yours, even) and criticism is one thing, but what you were doing was over the line. And my opinion of over the line seemed to be quit in line with everyone else seeing how it was multiple people having issues with your posts, not just me.
Btw BBK just reported D Hall has been kicked off the team. I guess those guys are just anti UK and LOD as well.
Don't pass judgement on the kid unless you know the facts about what happened.
Wow. Come on man do you really not see the difference. Again, I don't necessarily think you posed any harm with your comment, but do you really not see the difference in your comment and them posting actual verified news?
I have no idea what Max Smith did but I don't think we should be judging him without any hard information. In fact, I don't care if he got in a fight. Football is a physical violent game and if you have a 100 SEC football players around someone is going to get into trouble sometimes. This is not a vacation Bible class. I don't think getting into a fight makes him less of a leader. If you don't think college kids drink beer, get roudy, and occasionally get punched I don't think you spent much time around a big public university. Just see what happens. The coaches will take care of it. If you really care about UK football you want Smith to be successful and redshirt Towles. I can see the next crazy controversy in the making.
Sure you attacked me. You take every chance to call me negative and against the program as you specifically posted yet again in this thread. You can help from doing it.
I didn't jump the gun. I base my comments on multiple pieces of information I have heard from coaches players and many other alums. It wasn't harsh or nonsense or BS. I agree the war as it was should end. But it won't as long as you and others insist on keeping it going. I'm not over the line with comments about players as I have never bashed one and never will. Saying a kid needs to mature after many words of warning from the staff isn't bashing him. Like I said Joker called Towels the face of the program. Have you seen him say the same about Smith? I think other coaches are better then Joker in some aspects an have said as much. I think Joker is very good in other aspects and have said as much. Specifically Joker is good keeping his team in line and developing character. I expect he will be successful handling this issue as well.
Passing judgement? Who is passing judgment. Did you see me post anything like assigning punishment to the kid? Geez I said he needs to mature. I have valid reasons for saying it. Nothing more nothing less.
Like any thread where BigCat65 seems to go on and on and on defending himself this thread has turned stupid. Anyway some of us could just ignore what the guy has to say and not start with him. Its like all other post get put to the side once he starts blabbering on and on.
And you can't tell the difference between a blogger and "verified news". It's the age of Internet and message boards. Lots of people have verified news. You simply choose what you want to believe.
When I'm attacked I will defend myself but by all means use the ignore button. It works but yet you are compelled to add your useless commentary nonetheless.
I don't mind reading your posts. Most of the time I do. I just don't feel the need to call you out on your bullshit at every opportunity. Some others do and it gets old because once it starts with you it never seems to stop for FREAKING DAYS.
This is BS:
" I base my comments on multiple pieces of information I have heard from coaches players and many other alums."
It is basically saying as little as possible about what has been told (not saying "someone who witnessed the incident said this" or not saying "a coach told me that he got in trouble before" and not saying that "a coach told me he has received words of warning from us") and instead leaving it so open ended as to have no idea of verifying ots veracity and to have no means about making an assumption regarding the source where one could not be legitimately claimed to be jumping to conclusions regarding the source if one makes a decision.
That is garbage. Coupling that with the repeated claims that people are not willing to accept differing opinions leaves the impression that opinions are being passed off rather than inside information. In fact, in previous posts within this thread, the request for supporting indicators of poor judgment were directed to the OP which did not hold any. Now, there is an obtuse statement that this information has been gleaned from a variety of source with no way to garner what has been gleaned from where much less what is opinion and what is information being passed on.
Being clear and concise on these things is simple to do. It is not happening and that lack of clarity is being used to pass stuff of without clarity.
That is BS.
That judgment passing has been repeated.
It has been enclosed in quotes and reposted, pointing out that judgment was being passed. This pointing out with explicit cases has been repeated.
Saying it is not happening is a lie. Plain and simple.
such and such happened is news
such and such made a bad decision is opinion.
There is a distinct difference between news and opinion.
Last post in this thread. Bigcat doesn't care about facts. He's been caught making crap up and twisting facts before. Ignore him.
You guys need to calm down.
Max Smith is a football first guy. If you follow his tweets and the amount of time he spends with his teammate you would know this.
He also has that California swag to where he is laid back but if stuff becomes a problem he aint gonna take it. His teammates love him. He is all football, looks forward to 6am workouts and leads 7-7 games.
Good people get in fights...good people are sometimes in the wrong place at the wrong time...and sometimes good people get pissed and snap over someone running their mouth. College fights usually happen because you are dealing with a drunk or happen over a girl. I am sure if he git into a fight it was one of those reasons. Bigcat implying that he is a Curtis Pulley with pot problems is out of line.
This is college and this happens. It actually makes me happy that he was sticking up for the WHOLE team when shit was said and then the OL stuck up for him. This is a good thing sometimes and can really bring a team together.
I'm seriously not trying to offend you, but do you feel you have as much credibility as Aaron? He is a credentialed media member that has proven himself reliable time and time again, and runs his own site........your bigcat65. just sayin.
I don't think what you said was that bad really, but to try and lump it into the same category as Aaron reporting Hall being dismissed is puzzling to say the least.
Not going to get in this pissing match, though I am thoroughly enjoying it, but according to Max's twitter, he was going to spend the weekend in Louisville celebrating his birthday. Plenty of opportunity for a UK football player to get involved in some ish there.
I wish you would ignore me just as you do the rest of the facts regarding UK football.
you have not posted a single substantiated fact in this entire thread. except that Daylen Hall was dismissed.
Why was Daylen Hall dismissed? The secondary is looking pretty sketchy next year.
