It was a glitch in "The Matrix". "The Architect" has addressed the issue.
That's crazy. It almost looks fake.
Had to be a ball with not a lot of air. But it looks like a perfect shot that hit the backboard and the rim attachment plate in the exact angle so that they nullified the physical momentum that would make that basketball go backwards toward the shooter or go up. Pretty cool shot, I would bet the odds of that happening are a lot greater than making the shot.

LoL..ups for that ref!! Actually..Neo flew in at the last second and stop-blocked the shot by Agent Smith..all while eating one of the Oracles tasty fresh baked cookies!! that..or the cool lil bald kid that bends spoons tweaked that rim!!
